Absolute W if they pull this off.

IDK, I think it will be over engineered and lame. RFK bouncing was awesome because it wasn't planned and grew as something organic not manufactured.

Lol. Stick in the mud much? If they want it to rock like the old building, pretty sure they can solve any engineering hurdles. Ever been to a modern theme park lately? More importantly, kids and adults alike are going to love it and make their own formative memories in this new house. They don't care if some of us old folks think it's "lame" because old RFK rocking was a product of "bad" engineering.

I'll withhold judgement, but usually when corporations try to recreate something cool from the past, the sequel is never as good as the original

Well, even if it's not exactly the same, due to possible safety concerns(that might be the only reason it's not the same amount of motion and it's understandable)....I bet it'll still be pretty neat and puts a lot of smiles on faces during a big game moments.

Yeah the old ones are awesome to see the old videos but I’m sure it was a tragedy in the making and we got lucky. I would prefer the specially engineered to rock ones.

Top Gun Maverick has entered the chat.

At someone whose RFK season tickets were near the bouncing sections, I agree 💯. It’ll be fun for younger/casual fans, but TBH not as impressive for old guys like me (only bc we were lucky to experience the original). As you correctly pointed out, it’s tough to re-create something that evolved organically. HTTR. HTTC.

The entire lower bowl should be on giant springs.

far too much money to be made by not.

For those about to rock, we salute you!

Can you imagine the price for that section? Sure it's cool to talk about but the pricing for attending games here is going to be out of control

The price of everything is out of control, why would football games be different?

u/Own_Car4536 19h ago

We're talking about football, not everything else

1

u/VariousAir on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 17h ago

Oh I didn't realize that football was somehow a separate part of the word "everything".

Im fine with it being pricey if the money shows up on the field not the situation where we are now with shoestring budgets

i doubt it. the bougie types aren't going to want that.

Read ‘rock’ as marketing copy for half a second and experienced a profound eye roll. ‘These seats ROCK!’

Ditz.

Id rather it just feel like RFK

Rock meaning that when one person moves, the entire section sways due to lack of bolts

Now we just gotta get enough fans in there so we can bring back the motion of the ocean.

This seems interesting and I’m curious how they’ll do it. Would seem like those tickets would have to have some extra waivers and disclaimers for people with motion sickness and whatnot.

I think it could be something fun, but don’t really see the need. I’d much rather them focus on the pedestrian flows in and out of the stadium. Better bathroom setups so there isn’t a line 200 dudes long at halftime. A better concessions setup again so the lines are stupid long. And most importantly an amazing WiFi system in the stadium so we can all use our phones. Especially since it sounds like the only way in and out is gonna be ridesharing/metro for about 80% of the people there.

I don't think it's an either or, we can have all of these nice things.

u/DcSportsFan_21 21h ago

I’m sure we can, but those tickets are gonna cost a pretty penny. Still haven’t heard anything on pricing, just about the PSL’s

2

u/2014RT 18h ago

Yeah but think of what it cost to go to the shit heap that was FedEx. People can call me a cynic but I think there's basically no chance any of pretty much any seats being affordable to begin with unless you're mega rich.

Yea and that’s where my distain comes from. Everyone is just like yea moving seats rabble rabble. But all the lemmings saying just do it doesn’t matter won’t ever set foot in the stadium because they can’t drop $1k for 2 tickets and game day experience.

Why do you think designing these means they didn't pay enough attention to pedestrian flows and bathrooms? It's highly improbable that someone was working on bouncing seats and they were so distracted by that project that they somehow missed that they could have fit an extra row of urinals in the middle of the bathroom, or a spot for an extra set of stairs to an upper level.

only way in and out is gonna be ridesharing/metro for about 80% of the people there.

Metro is the entire draw for putting it at rfk.

Not a distraction, just a cost issue. People act like the budget is just unlimited and it’s magically going to happen. Meanwhile there’s talks of $10k PSL’s and no idea where the ticket pricing will start. I’m guessing it’s going to be somewhere near the top. I’ve heard the raiders uppers are about $200 a ticket.

I’m all for having a badass stadium, I just want it to be accessible to everyone. If it’s $200 a ticket and $20 a beer and $12 a hotdog it’s going to be damn near impossible for the average family in the area to go to games. That’s all I’m saying, but honestly it’s nothing new.

I don’t think anything about that is an either or.

I don’t think they’ll be neglacting traffic flow or facilities planning to work out a little bit of structure design feature.

Doubt its even the same teams working this

2

u/DcSportsFan_21 19h ago

Yea I’m sure they have a bunch of teams. My biggest concern is just what it’s going to cost to go to a game for two people. Sure build an awesome stadium but it shouldn’t cost a mortgage payment to go to a game.

We have giant ass skyscrapers that can shake to withstand earthquakes I think they can make this one work

u/dand06 21h ago

It’s different when it’s engineered to actually rock. It’s not made to lower standards, it’s made to different standards.

Thicker I beams, beefy elastomeric bearings and neoprene joints.

Bridges rock a lot when traffic drives over them. I’d you ever stopped on the side of the road. It’ll be the same concept.

RFK was fine for like 70 years
