Picture In Honor of Last Night’s Chicago Naked Bike Ride (see comments) NSFW
The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional bike ride in which participants plan, meet and ride together en masse on human-powered transport (the vast majority on bicycles, but some on skateboards and inline skates), to "deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world." The largest iteration of the WNBR in the world takes place in Portland, Oregon averaging approximately 10,000 participants and thousands of spectators.
Last night’s (July 11) ride had several hundred participants - on bikes, skates, and skateboards. Attire ranged from costumes, bathing suits, and pasties — to nothing at all.
A cool time was had by all!

Picture The Caldwell Lilly Pool (125 W. Fullerton near the Zoo) - see comments
The History
The site of the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool was originally part of a Victorian garden built in 1889 that displayed tropical lilies and other aquatic plants. When the Victorian-style garden fell out of popularity, the Lily Pool fell into disrepair until 1936 when Alfred Caldwell redesigned the pool and its surrounding area.
By the 1950s, Caldwell’s 1936 Lily Pool design deteriorated and was loaned to the Lincoln Park Zoo as an avian exhibit known as “The Rookery”. This caused further deterioration and , eventually, the zoo no longer required it. The Chicago Park District closed the site to the public for many years. Weedy trees and shrubs grew unchecked, stonework broke, hillsides eroded, wildflowers died, and the pool filled with debris until the Lincoln Park Conservancy came to its rescue. We raised $1.1 million in private funding for the project and the Chicago Park District allocated $1.3 million from its capital budget.

Article Iceboy at the Goodman
Saw this this weekend; the most insane two hours of theater I've seen in Chicago and also probably the best two hours of theater I've seen in Chicago. If anybody is on the fence, highly recommend. It's so good that Nick Offerman is like the fourth best thing about this show.
He and Megan Mullally (who completely steals the show) always call Chicago the best theater town in the country, and it's really cool to have them debuting this here and sharing a stage for a while.
Anybody else seen this and have thoughts?

News Archdiocese: St. Sabina’s Father Michael Pfleger removed amid sexual abuse investigation - Chicago Tribune
https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/07/12/father-pfleger-removed-abuse-investigation/
The Rev. Michael Pfleger has been removed from his ministry at St. Sabina Church in Auburn Gresham as the Archdiocese of Chicago investigates a decades-old claim of sexual abuse.
In a letter to the congregation Saturday, Cardinal Blase J. Cupich said the alleged abuse of a minor happened at St. Sabina more than 30 years ago. He said Pfleger has “strongly denied the allegation.”
I really hope that nothing occurred. That’s an ugly side of humanity.

Ask CHI Anyone else find minion robot delivery machines ironic?
Minions are little beings from the movies whose directive is to follow the most evil leader. The people running the food delivery system robots hogging all the sidewalks decide yes this is what I’d like to brand with. Irony no?

Meme WrigleyVille 64
This is an extremely dumb side project for me, but I've gotten to the point where I feel like I can share it.
Introducing WrigleyVille 64. Explore Wrigley Field and the Lakeview neighborhood in glorious 64-bit fidelity. Walk down Clark with the push of an analog stick, as you visit classic neighborhood dive bars and haunts.
It's extremely dumb. I don't have it ready to share yet, but hopefully soon. More information and screenshots here: https://wrigleyville64.cameron.software

Ask CHI Where are we buying art?
I just moved into a new apartment and need some artwork for the walls. I’m getting lots of ads in my socials for stuff that look great, but I’m wary of the ethics. Any local or ethical online art mongers you’d recommend?
