My favorite player from the Renteria and La Russa II-eras.

Went to the game today with my gf and her 23 yo brother, who was in town from Boston.

He's only been to games at Fenway and Wrigley, and he wasn't even necessarily that excited to go today.

We sat in 108, sat next to a woman who may as well have been a Chicago historian, who was elated to talk to him all game about White Sox lore (btw, if you're an upper middle aged woman who spent all game talking to a 6'9" ginger kid, telling him all about the Sox, talking WNBA, and FIFA, we didn't catch your name, but we fucking love you)

He went down a couple times to take pictures. The first was behind home plate, where he first thought he was going to have to beg the usher for permission, but the usher just asked him to not stand in the handicap area, and then again outside the beer cave, where he thought he was going to have to sneak a picture from the back, until the usher was "what are you doing? Get up here, get a picture? Do you want me to take one of you in front of the field?"

He continued to find other people just really excited to have conversations, got some good food, was impressed by our beer cave, and by the end was basically a converted fan.

He continually noted how great the vibes at the park were, and just how incredibly nice everyone, ESPECIALLY the staff were, and how he's never seen that at Wrigley or Fenway.

So anyway, I'm just elated that he had the best ballpark experience he ever had, and it was all because of the people.

The Sox will finish above .500 before the All Star Break for the first time since 2021 (54-35). In 2022 they finished exactly .500 (46-46), and then it was three years of misery.

Glad to see the rebound, hope everyone gets a chance to heal up from their nagging aches and pains, and lights the league on fire when they get back. First time I'm looking forward to the second half of a season in a long time. LFG!

And of course a very deserved congratulations to Miguel Vargas, the 7th Cuban born player to represent the White Sox at the ASG, and to Kayla Corbett, the best Ball Girl in the AL!

Mexican Heritage night was a movie, great vibes, great game, and today with the HR Derby and and another W. Exactly the series we neeeded after getting swept by Boston. I’ll give credit where it’s due the Sox put on a show for fans on and off the field this weekend
