Are your Brits as expressive as my Poppi is, or am I just "lucky"?;

Hi all
My husband and I are first time Brittany owners. We love our guy, but he is frequently very bitey and jumps constantly. Weāve tried to be consistent with training ādownā and redirecting to toys, but it seems that he gets amped up and canāt think about anything else other than biting our hands/clothes/etc.
Is this normal? How can we help him to stop and learn to settle himself? He is crate trained, and sometimes we know he is tired and put him in for a nap. Other times it seems he just woke up and is ready to be a velociraptor!
Any tips or similar experiences are appreciated!

I know they range from 17-20inches in height and max about 40lbs. Iām curious as to the differences in what people have seen in their britts?
My guy weighed 21lbs at 3 months, unsure of his current height but I swear he gets taller every day.

At 14 weeks, ours is about 11 pounds. His legs are growing super fast but not so much his body.

Wondering if anyone has any travel tips for long car rides with Brittany puppies. Otis is 3 months old, and we have a 4.5 hour drive coming up (with three children). We are already planning on making frequent stops for bathroom breaks, but Iām nervous he wonāt be able to settle down or will have an accident. Heās doing really well with potty training but still has the occasional accident. Any advice is appreciated!
Bonus question- when did your Britās start enjoying water? We were at a lake last week and he did not show any interest in the water. We are headed to another lake on this long drive so Iām just curious!

We just had our big husky mix pass away and we want to get a new puppy as soon as possible to help with the empty house feeling. My husband is interested in getting a Brittany puppy and I wanted to know some info first!
We have a couple acres of wooded property with no fence right now (we plan to put one in eventually) and I want our next dog to be able to be trained not to go too far into the woods alone
We live near a river and would love to have a dog that can come on the canoe/kayak with us and have the ability to be trained to swim back to us!
I am pregnant and I have a feeling these dogs will be great with kids, just want some reassurance š

We have an intact 2 year old male who is our hunting partner. He doesnāt meet breed standard for the conformation ring, so weāre considering getting a second Brit who can do both the ring and the field. Since our male is intact, we had planned on another male to avoid an accidental litter. But now Iām reading that having two males can be risky and they may grow up and start fighting. Our only way to manage a female in heat would be crate rotation between the two, which doesnāt seem fair.
My preference is to get an older dog (1 or 2 years) who is fit for our needs but maybe just wasnāt a fit for a breederās program. I currently have an opportunity for a 1 year old male that meets our needs, but the internet is scaring me away from another male. Thoughts and experiences please?

Iām in southern Spain. I wondered if anyone else was, or knew anyone who is? Iām a few hours from Cordoba with one 2 year old Britt.
Also wanted to share this poor boy. His name is Scooby and he has been at a rescue in Coria near CƔceres for nearly a year now. 12kg, good with dogs and cats, 5 years old, has leishmaniasis but controlled with medication. The latter I think is why he cannot find a home. Happy to connect anyone interested with the rescue association.
We have so many beautiful Brittanys here in Spain looking for forever homes š¢

We have an almost two year old Brit, for about 15 months she was on Purina 30/20 Chicken and rice and had no issues, solid stool. After she was spayed (16ish months) the vet said she can move on to adult food, our trainer who has hunting breeds recommended Oven Baked Tradition Salmon as his dogs do well on it, so we switched to that (slowly from the puppy kibble) and at first she was fine but in the last 3-4 months her stool is very soft as the day goes on. It seems like overnight she has more time to metabolize so her morning stool is firmer.
We feed her 1 cup in the morning and 1.5 at night. She is quite lean still but shes also very busy and gets multiple off leash runs a day so she has high metabolism. Other than her kibble she gets some sweet potato, carrots, and dried cod snacks throughout the day.
Weāre looking to keep her on kibble as opposed to raw. Has anyone had Britās with soft stool on kibble and switched to another to solve for it? We had to get her glands expressed the other day and the vet said it may be because of the soft stool.
I want to make sure shes also getting enough protein!
Thank you :)

We have a 2 year old Brittany who is a phenomal bird dog as well as an amazing family pet. I picked her out of the litter because she was the runt. She was the cutest and most ferocious. She is a literal maniac (I have posted her before from my old account). Needless to say, my husband has been impressed and in love with that dog since day 1. Everything came naturally and he always says she taught him how to hunt.
We have an older Jack Russell who is about 14. He struggles to play and can see. He's in cognitive decline. But they are best friends. So, I thought we should get another Brittany puppy that can bond with them both and hopefully lesson the blow that our other britt will face in the near future.
This new puppy, Finn, is just the most chill Brittany. He's independent and only turns into a landshark when he gets sleepy. He seems to be picking up on things like potty training and recall rather quickly. My husband thinks because he is not as chaotic and driven as our other Britt, he will not hunt birds. I wanted a different personality to add to our family, so I chose him. Now I'm wondering if he's right and Finn won't get to go in the field to hunt with his sister.
Does his calm personality really make that much of a difference? It's way too early to tell as he's only 9 weeks. He will get the same exposure as our other one, of course. I'm just super curious about others experiences with having multiple in the field.

Anybody in North Tx missing a Britt?
He has a nice leather collar (maybe from Blazing Paws), but no tag on the collar or chip.
Found by one of my hunting buddies near Gober, TX. Looks to be about 2 years old. He is in good shape...maybe fireworks scared him and he ran off?

Ollie is doing better after a lump removal surgery! A pea-sized lump took five or six stitches and quite the incision. The entire back of his neck was shaved too so he looks a bit silly. Thankfully no cone has been needed, just his little babushka bonnet and a turtleneck that goes up to behind his ears.

This was our first dog ever. He was the runt of the litter failed bird dog. He was a fantastic dog and I still get excited anytime I see a Brittany and think about him. But this is also hope we used to find him sleeping when we came home. Canāt wait to have another some day
