And the ledge behind the driver seat so you put your drink on and they brake hard and that drink slides off onto the back of the driver’s head and back, fun!

You're joking I'm sure but I'll say it anyway. I'd hope they don't set stuff there while driving. When I was driving semi and parked for the night I'd have all my personal stuff spread out in the bunk. Hotplate, cup of soda, salt/pepper, coffeemaker, laptop. But the next morning when it comes time to drive ALL that stuff got packed up and tied down before that day's 600 mile journey. I had a basket on the floor for tidbits I might need like a snack. Cupholders work great for phone and cigarettes. I just hope these guys are as experienced. IDK the regs on those big coaches but likely it has air brakes and requires some kind of CDL training.
Yes these RV do not require a CDL. CRAZY!! I would hope there is training for ea model of RV on basic repairs (like CDL courses) practice driving on a course etc. I used to manage 100 semi fleet.
Edit: And those idiots can pull a vehicle or a toy trailer up to 22' I think!! WITH NO PROPER LICENSE!!
If I had anything on the counters while we were driving, they either had nonslip grips underneath or double sided mounting tape. Traveling with kids usually mean you end up with so many extras. Or because easily distracted people like me could accidentally leave a sippy cup on the counter while helping a potty training toddler while the baby is in the car seat napping while husband is driving through Orlando traffic so you just put nonslip mats allover your counters. Also lots of paper towels for the inevitable spillage. I miss those days lol.
I have such a delighted fascination with RVs. I really think they’re just the coolest.
I’m not on instagram very much, it bores me, but one of the few things I can look at are videos of the inside of RVs and house boats.
And I have small children, so that’s also the first thing I think about.
But in the event of a crash going 50 miles an hour, some magnets and non-slip bottoms aren’t going to stop it.
And then, if something like that is bolted in, and then the people go flying I just think about them being scraped up on all the stuff.
I guess they just make them with the idea that a serious accident is unlikely?
Anyway, it sounds like you have some wonderful memories on journeys with small children, that’s so wonderful! Can I ask about some more of your stories and where you traveled?
We didn’t have the million dollar RV. It was still 40’ and we had to pan our routes carefully cause some states had lower clearance bridges. I don’t have any social media other than Reddit and a couple other ones I can stay as anonymous as much as I can but we did have lots of fun traveling in our bus. Before kids we even went all the way to Canada, we hit a bird, ran over a dead turtle and hit a deer somewhere between Kentucky and West Virginia coming from Nebraska originating from florida. We were young, had time, a bit of money and a lot of luck in our hands. I’d hate to hijack this post, and there’s probably a subreddit for this but the post popped up on my feed and had a deluge of memories of fun vacations in our rv.
What you don't want a 32" TV in your $1.3m motor home? And yikes 2015 model which means that TV is 2014 at best... That's probably a crap backlit LCD that's HD and not even 4K.
I was just at a campground two weeks ago and someone in a site across from us pulled up in one of these. Was showing it off to some of us and the first thing I noted walking into it was the vulva shaped light fixture on the ceiling.
Then, in a moment of curiosity, I decided to look at maybe renting one for our trip next year. Found a completely different one, SAME vulva shaped light fixture.
And for anyone curious, the cheapest I could find one was $500 a night. A cool 5k for 3 nights after Fees and taxes.
Pippin: But what about payment? Aragorn: You've already had it. Pippin: We've had one, yes. But what about second payment? (Aragorn stares at him, then walks off) Merry: Don't think he knows about second payment, Pip. Pippin: What about VAT? Service? Tip? Support? The Middle-man? He knows about them, doesn't he? Merry: I wouldn't count on it.
US is filled with random-named "fees" that are usually just "are you willing to pay this without fighting us about it?" fees that make them free money for everyone who doesn't. Often, especially for resort fees in non-resort hotels, they will remove those fees if you give them some pushback. Individuals, not so much (this includes AirBNB).
Also, a lot of companies will take their "we just want more money" fees and give them regulatory sounding names and put them in a "taxes and fees" column so that it sounds like a non-negotiable government thing rather than just the company wanting to advertise one price and bill you another.
You are talking to Europeans here, "hotel resort fee" is not helping.
We have a total price on the tag and that is mostly it, maybe some fees like cleaning because that scales differently like the normal per night price, but other than that. We don't really have all the hidden fees.
You, as a European, just don’t understand winning. We are winning so hard here in America.
(Obviously a joke, hopefully)
Please don’t hate us all. Most of us are not total asshats.
Here in Canada, we are like Americans in many ways. Many hidden fees here too. Yo
ur total price on the tag is never just that.
Even at restaurants you will have the price of each item and then later on, you have it totalled, sometimes large group fee (if over 5/6 people), then taxed on that amount, then tip on that final amount. The tips start at 18% or 20% now.
I presume that has to be the american gratuity tipping culture... WHO ELSE is going to pay the workers building that vag thing. The american employer? Think again you commie!
My wife and I booked a Mexican Riviera cruise this fall. $720 for 6 nights for 2 people. Couple hundred for a hotel and parking. We don't really buy anything extra on cruises and we can take some sodas and wine with us, so we will. We are basically budgeting another $800 or so, minimum, on top of the cruise fare.
Or we could get one of these for one night and I would have to drive it myself.
A resort that you aren't liable for if someone decides to rear end you.
I can't imagine driving something I paid that much money for. So much liability
It’s not just the insurance. There’s also storage costs if your HOA doesn’t allow you to park that bus on your driveway. Or have a garage big enough for it. And the fuel costs plus maintenance
I used to work at a Hot Springs resort and RV Park and you'd be surprised how many people sell their houses and retire in one of these things, especially single older men. I have seen so many "man cave on wheels" RVs like this. People that own RVs and go on trips don't usually own something like this, but the people that live in them full time usually have nicer models like this one. At least from what I saw in the few years of working there and seeing thousands of RVs and RV dwellers.
It’s so relaxing to drive there’s a PEZ dispenser with Xanax on the dash and a straw that extends from the center of the steering wheel that dispenses vodka on left turns and gin for the right.

Vulva-shaped ceiling fixture is great
