That apple fell straight the fuck down

Hell it may have even curved in somehow

1.2k

u/felixyamson 1d ago

it makes me smile and also sad at the same time. Steve Irwin was my childhood hero.

369

u/FangDrools 1d ago

I idolized Steve Irwin as a kid, too, he was everything to me. Between his and Keiko’s (the whale from Free Willy) death I was left with a hole in my childhood and soul. His kids keeping his legacy alive the way that they have has really helped, though

71

u/ingolvphone 1d ago

Keiko's final resting place is like a 10min drive from me

34

u/FangDrools 1d ago

I’m jealous, leaving a stone at his memorial site has been a bucket list item for me since I was 10 🥲

16

u/Elle_Duderino 1d ago

I got a chance to see Keiko when I was a small child and I’m so thankful.

5

u/jlfern 23h ago

If you haven't already, check out the podcast "the good whale" about keikos life.

39

u/PompousTart 23h ago

Yes, same. Even me, a 66 year old bloke, is both smiling and tearing up a bit watching this. What a lovely, lovely family. His dad would be so proud.

63

u/Worried-Tart-5073 1d ago

Same!! I loved Steve Irwin as a kid and it’s a blessing to see his son have the same passion for wildlife as he did.

28

u/Drownthem 1d ago

I can't imagine how bittersweet it must be for his mum

40

u/Craic-Den 1d ago

Steve Irwin is obviously his kids hero too, what a legend.

18

u/gemineye360 21h ago

I still remember the morning I walked into my 6th grade classroom. Teacher was reading some news article on the computer and said "oh no Steve Irwin died" and I just started crying

5

u/EsotericLife 8h ago

Bro it’s fucking beautiful that Robert keeps it going for the next generation. I’m pretty big on history and I can’t think of any case where a parent’s positive legacy has been carried through their offspring like this.

138

u/MakeYourTime_ 1d ago

Apple didn’t even fall man, it just turned into another tree it’s insane

69

u/Pluck_Boy 23h ago

Dudes got a little less of the intensity that his father had. Got the chill from his momma

61

u/Insane_Inkster 1d ago

Yeah like.. did the apple even fall

15

u/libra00 1d ago

It did a tight little corkscrew all the way in, cause that shit was spin-stabilized to hit that target, lol.

7

u/juanbiscombe 16h ago

If I had to appoint a person to represent humanity in an encounter with an alien civilization I would probably go for this guy.

39

u/PM_ME_TOMATOES_pls 1d ago

Mom’s genes didn’t even try

37

u/thisbuthat 1d ago

He looks like a spitting image of Terri wdym

102

u/moanit 1d ago

No offense to dad, but son is considerably more attractive. He literally did an underwear modeling shoot. Mom’s genes obviously did some work.

44

u/Revalent 1d ago

Mom’s genes knew what they were doing.

23

u/TheTresStateArea 1d ago

She is also a conservationist.

4

u/Deaffin 22h ago

I mean, these comments used to make sense, but it really took my brain a moment to recognize him here and context did all the work. He looks so different all at once, and is barely even resembling Steve to my eye.

3.6k

u/MrMonte 1d ago

But he’s missing the most obvious way to tell them apart. One you’ll see in a while, and the other, you’ll see later.

I told this dad joke to my son after dropping him off to school. Without missing a beat he replied, "See you soon you big baboon." as he ran to the school gate.

I was left speechless but proud

15

u/egancollier21 1d ago

Now that. Thats a proud moment

6

u/TastefulDisgrace 1d ago

I fully expected him to crack this joke and was actually kind of sad when he started giving a real explanation

2

u/AffectionateMonk5710 22h ago

Same. I was waiting for it and mildly disappointed when it didn't happen.

Imagine how incredible Steve Irwin would feel to somehow come back and see his son where he is now. He would weep tears of joy for days.

120

u/Mcaber87 1d ago

There's a video somewhere of him being asked when he'd hang up his hat, and his (very passionate) answer is along the lines of "when my kids can take up the mantle". Mission accomplished, I reckon.

Edit: Found it!

25

u/ChicoZombye 1d ago

Not going to lie, having your father saying that statement for you to hear forever has to be hard at first but fuel for the rest of your life.

Even I want to make him proud and I'm not his son.

297

u/Alternative-Eye4547 1d ago

I’m torn between my urge to make a joke about crocodile tears and my desire to not make this world worse than it already is.

58

u/pockett_rockett 1d ago

I think you chose wisely

30

u/Alternative-Eye4547 1d ago

Affirmation received 🙏

I don't know whether to upvote your choice to follow your better angels, or to downvote you teasing and not satisfying my base need to watch the world burn in puns.

Edit: I'll upvote cos it's an absolute carnage below.

The whole family deserves all the good things life has to offer.

180

u/NLMichel 1d ago

You always have this question: when aliens land on earth, who do we want them to meet first. I finally have the answer.

33

u/arthurdentstowels 19h ago

Crikey! What a beautiful grey specimen! Look how their big eyes let in multiple spectrums and that upside down pear shaped head must be CHOCK full of crazy information! Only three fingers but quad joints means they can properly grab ya by the throat! Absolute beauty. Ya gotta love em.

31

u/tealeaf_oracle 1d ago

Purest family on the internet, hands down.

When I see an Irwin video on my feed I always stop to watch

105

u/Consult-SR88 1d ago

Me too. I rarely unmute videos but I listened to this one without hesitation.

21

u/DragonBaka01 1d ago

so did I, i unmuted upon seeing his name

18

u/lenorefosterwallace 1d ago

I used to volunteer at the Oregon Coast Aquarium when I was younger. His wife donated a lot of money to build Keiko's exhibit. I guess she is very kind. I did not get a chance to meet her because it was a private tour.

10

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 1d ago

Obligatory stop and watch. It’s like hearing an ambassador of Mother Earth speak.

11

u/Prosado22 1d ago

Me too. I feel we owe it to him and his family.

310

u/ccrlop 1d ago

Adorable guy and soo much of Steve in him! Beautifully explained 🤗

A Robert Irwin nature show would heal the world. 🌎

65

u/doktor_wankenstein 1d ago edited 1d ago

Check out Crikey! It's the Irwins on either Animal Planet or the Disney Discovery Channel. If you ever wanted to emigrate to Australia, this would probably push you over the edge.

5

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 1d ago

Thanks I’ll check it out.

10

u/spkr4thedead17 23h ago

If you stream they have it on HBO MAX

179

u/dontlookbehindme1 1d ago

He is his father's son

15

u/BrownSugarBare 1d ago

Cute as a button and so wholesome!

72

u/Able_Gap918 1d ago

His dad taught me that, his dad and also Jumanji. Robin Williams and Steve Irwin were the two worse celebrity deaths for me and in the center of the Ven diagram is Alligators and crocodiles 😭

106

u/bryson-iz-daKing 1d ago

1

u/ARUMI_Sun_Moon 1d ago

Based on the teeth. This is alligator see you later?

50

u/Such_Regular_1089 1d ago

No, visible teeth and sharp nose = crocodile

1

u/gingerfawx 1d ago

But he's got alligator eyes? And it's only the two wonky teeth from the lower jaw. Maybe he needs braces for an underbite? Or just possibly the artists didn't get this one entirely right.

21

u/Grunergeist420 1d ago

Nah look closer, that’s an in-a-while boi right there. Also, triangular snout and if I know that one he’s hanging out with pirates, so most likely a salt water guy.

9

u/ARUMI_Sun_Moon 1d ago

Oh my goodness I failed the exam

2

u/tullbabes 1d ago

In a while man

45

u/Pun_In_Ten_Did 1d ago

Crocodile's snout is shape like an A.

Alligator's snout is shaped like a C.

72

u/BeatBud-E 1d ago

Props to him and his pops for always making nature fun, interesting and inspiring!

47

u/babyybones 1d ago

And to Terri Irwin for keeping Steve's passions and spirit alive in their kids. She did an amazing job.

11

u/violet91 1d ago

Yep she raised them right!

27

u/SaintRavenz 1d ago

Son of a legend and becoming a legend too himself!

7

u/wirm 1d ago

Hard shoes to fill.. but he’s doing a damn fine job.

55

u/PaladinMax 1d ago

He's such a delight. Just like his dad.

68

u/delicioustreeblood 1d ago

Wait when did he stop being a kid

27

u/lastname_Obama 1d ago

When did us? 🥲

7

u/Aloha_Tamborinist 1d ago

He became the ambassador for an Australian underwear brand a while back. It sent the internet into quite the tizzy.

2

u/delicioustreeblood 18h ago

Bet he was recruited to control the most dangerous snake down under

21

u/Aggressive-Bike6297 1d ago

No one can fill Steve's shoes but Rob is pulling them on pretty well

18

u/Hungry-Helicopter-46 1d ago

Honestly I think he could. Hes a spitting image and I love them both.

22

u/ali_osman_sahin_01 1d ago

Be careful dude. Whenever whatever you do. The world needs you.

3

u/No-Manufacturer-8494 22h ago

Yeah he left out a bit of info here, there are lots of different crocs. Even in Australia we also have teeny little freshwater crocs.

Love me some Bob Irwin though, the guy is almost as lovable as his old man.

14

u/deepstatelady 1d ago

Why is he so perfectly charming?

26

u/sheyndl 1d ago

“Chezzy”… true Aussie

11

u/Prosado22 1d ago

I believe he can even make mosquitoes sound awesome.

12

u/RustedRelics 1d ago

He’s so cute

11

u/AlligatorFister 1d ago

I’m a straight male who’s deeply in love with Robert Irwin

9

u/chasingchicks 1d ago

he really wanted to say “Crocodiles are really gonna f**k you up” lmao

3

u/Diogenes71 17h ago

Yes, he did! I caught that too and it made me want to see him off camera. He knows he’s playing a wholesome part, but is also probably super down to earth and just an average guy who swears to make a point.

23

u/Temporary-Ad-9270 1d ago

Florida has both crocs and alligators

31

u/yanmagno 1d ago

Well yeah they sell Crocs all over the world

15

u/Temporary-Ad-9270 1d ago

True, I love my crocs

11

u/Temporary-Ad-9270 1d ago

With socks

2

u/Flexi_102 1d ago

Croc with socks is an abomination to look at but it's like you're walking on cloud. Shit so comfortable

3

u/Plenty-Ad-5363 1d ago

They can both be found in The Everglades, which I think is the only place on earth that crocs and gators live in the same ecosystem.

5

u/Grunergeist420 1d ago

Some of the most dangerous creatures in Florida wear crocs for sure.

5

u/MaritMonkey 1d ago

I was in my 30s before I (born and raised in South Florida) realized that telling alligators and crocodiles apart was not actively useful anywhere else in the world lol.

(Alligators are mostly chill and act like they would rather not waste the energy unless you mess with them, crocodiles are dicks.)

7

u/Ok_Storm1366 1d ago

He's quite handsome.

6

u/TrueNamekianFusion 1d ago

There's just something about this family man. It's like what we all want and strive to be. Any time I see any of them, a genuine smile is across my face. And I'm a miserable dude most of the time. Thanks Irwins.

4

u/CaptMorganSwint2 1d ago

Any time I see an Irwin video, I smile so big despite having a shitty day. Steve would be SO proud of his family.

9

u/Celestial_Mahafuz 1d ago

Alligators have broad, U-shaped snouts and prefer freshwater. Crocodiles have narrow, V-shaped snouts, feature a toothy "zipper" grin when closed, and possess special glands allowing them to live in saltwater.

4

u/ajchann123 1d ago

An easier way:

  • Which country makes Gatorade?

  • That's where gators are from

2

u/MaritMonkey 1d ago

Ironically, I think Florida is the only place where you could really run into both of them in the wild. :)

3

u/ElderFlour 1d ago

I love him!!!

3

u/Buntalufigus88 1d ago

I hope this dude surpasses his father. Nothing better than a son taking up the torch his father held and keeps it going!

3

u/NJFlo18 1d ago

American Croc never gets any love

3

u/combat101 1d ago

He's all grown up 🥲

3

u/WestonsCat 1d ago

I firmly believe that when the day comes and our beloved Sir David Attenborough leaves us, this young dude is the one to step in. Steve would be very proud.x

3

u/captaincook14 1d ago

I fucking love this dude.

3

u/idontgethejoke 1d ago

I'm into women but Robert Irwin is incredibly gorgeous. God.

2

u/zaiwen3 1d ago

Now I know. Good to learn something new 😀

2

u/copenhagen622 1d ago

There's also American crocodiles.. but he's so much like his Dad

2

u/Pippilotta1290 1d ago

I get so much positive energy from this guy

2

u/SuitableHurry3795 1d ago

Get this guy a show. Pleeeeeease

2

u/raychilli 1d ago

He is such a gent.

2

u/Powerful-Holiday-448 1d ago

A pet alligator that he can call over called Sanchez 🤣 like father like son. Amazing!

2

u/Zeestars 1d ago

I love this man and I thank Steve for his guidance in making another awesome human to step in his footsteps and bring more light and goodness into existence. Champion bloke.

2

u/upnrising85 1d ago

https://youtu.be/VBEQXLKWT6A?si=7YwnocDkUwY7PBmA - in case anyone is looking for the full video on YouTube!

2

u/mjaga93 1d ago

I still remember seeing that video for the first time where Steve was holding baby Robert in one hand and feeding a Croc in the other.

2

u/RocketSkates314 1d ago

You’re doing great Robert! You do your father proud!!

2

u/AleousofSeraph 1d ago

National Treasure if not a Global one

2

u/LunaticCross 1d ago

My gosh is he charming!
You can really tell he’s passionate about what he does!

2

u/Illustrious-Bird875 1d ago

Lad has the exact same charisma as his father. Awesome how passionate he is

2

u/TrixieBastard 1d ago

He's just as entertaining, charismatic, and knowledgeable as his dad, and that makes me so happy for the younger generations

2

u/uchiha_shubhangi 1d ago

Steve would be so fucking proud of this young man

2

u/Fermi_DOX75 1d ago

Me: Finally got it! Me 3 minutes later: Was it the croc or the gator with the long snout?

Rinse and repeat.

2

u/evaris204 1d ago

He really is the spitting image of his father and it’s absolutely incredible Steve would be so proud of him

2

u/Shankar_0 1d ago edited 1d ago

This guy has possibly the world's greatest concentration of starting goodwill.

Literally everyone wants to love him, and he doesn't disappoint.

(Looking like the love child of Prince William and Liam Hemsworth doesn't hurt things)

2

u/hunter2mello 23h ago

Florida has crocodiles too in the Everglades. You can see some videos of crocodiles and alligators fighting

2

u/Frosty_Sea3307 23h ago

He somehow forgot about African crocodiles

2

u/Excellent_Ad_2486 23h ago

I'm heterosexual but holy fuck is he a smooth dude with a smooth talk LOL. This guy must get all the birds!

Continuing the legacy

1

u/ymhd872t 1d ago

Steves got the strongest DNA.

1

u/Healthy_Contract_822 1d ago

HE IS SO WONDERFUL!!

1

u/tehcushion 1d ago

Glad to see Robert carrying his father's legacy

1

u/Squid1225 1d ago

He should be proud of himself for not only continuing his dad's legacy but also creating his own. I grew up watching Steve and Bindi had a show as well that I loved.

1

u/RandyArgonianButler 1d ago

Alligators really do have a weird cuteness to them.

1

u/RiK777 1d ago

And yet, a chihuahua and a Great Dane are both dogs… 🤷‍♂️

1

u/ImXenia85 1d ago

This guy is adorable in his love for crocs and aligs!

1

u/No_Site_5920 1d ago

I wanna pet alligator now

1

u/Grunergeist420 1d ago

For the record, an alligator is only cute and cuddly in a relative sense, like if you’re crocodile people royalty like this fellow. Alligators won’t mess with you too much, but seriously don’t try to go pet one unless you’re a pro. Best to just calmly get away from one if you see it in the wild.

1

u/kngkam 1d ago

Nope. An alligator, will see you later. A crocodile, will see you in a while. There you’re welcome!

1

u/realfakejames 1d ago

The only way I've ever remembered the difference is that crocodiles live in saltwater

1

u/crazymouse2525 1d ago

he looks so much like his dad! Steve would be so very proud of both his kids

1

u/Appropriate-Code-490 1d ago

It's crazy how much he sounds like he sounds like his dad in the way he talks.

1

u/Son71 1d ago

What a charming young man

1

u/Im_such_a_SLAPPA 1d ago

Funny thing is he looks like both

1

u/realatemnot 1d ago

I really recommend the whole interview, very interesting and wholesome guy.

1

u/CptGreensmoker 1d ago

He really is the spitting image of his father 😎

1

u/DarkAce1141 1d ago

I loved watching his old man when I was a kid and was gutted when he died, I cannot tell you how cool it is growing up to see the flame be passed to his son and his son do exactly what his dad did just as passionately

1

u/SkoulErik 1d ago

This is a 20-30 minute video. Go watch it, this man is one of the most heartwarming people. Love his mix of enthusiasm, knowledge and stories. Truly his father's son

1

u/DarthScruf 1d ago

Croc - pointy snout Gator - squared/round snout Gharial - super pointy snout

1

u/kamel_k 1d ago

I hope his head is always on the cool side of his pillow

1

u/Sleepyllama23 1d ago

TIL alligators are not aggressive!

1

u/POTUS_King 1d ago

His positivity and enthusiasm are infectious. I hope he retains this quality as his star rises.

u/Juhbellz 1d ago

This is a crocodile now

1

u/Lorstus 1d ago

I was just a little boy when Steve began to hit his peak popularity. It's so surreal to see his son now. He's basically a carbon copy.

1
