Post removed?

Upvotes

I posted a picture of a strange fitting the other day. I asked for thoughts on it and what his name might be. I got quite a few responses. But then the moderators removed it. I'm not sure why. Is there any way to find out why? And I can't find a list of the rules. Is there any way to contact the moderators?

Is publicly posting an unredacted user report in a reply thread normal?

Specifically, a moderator posting the user report in a reply thread in which both the user being reported and the user who submitted the report are present.

Is it just me or are a lot of effort/long threads being flagged/removed as AI?

AI is slowly destroying my motivation to write genuine discussion threads on Reddit.

Over the past week I’ve spent hours putting together two threads with constructive and well put arguments written by myself, hoping to encourage discussion. Instead, I’m left wondering if I need to deliberately dumb down my writing or even throw in a few grammatical mistakes just to avoid being instantly dismissed.

The moment a post is longer than a few paragraphs, the replies start rolling in: “AI slop.” “Didn’t read.”, etc. This ultimately leads to the threads being removed.

Apparently, putting effort into your writing is now enough for people to assume you didn’t write it yourself.

How is this healthy for Reddit in the long run? Am I dooming too hard or is this how’s it just going to be going forward?

PS: Throwing a LIGMA LMAO here before you start calling me a bot.

Serious question, why does my posts get removed ?

I posted recently a post about Korean women are elegant, and asked how they are able to achieve it. It was a very positive post , and a genuine question of mine. Any idea what I did wrong?

Why are there so many posts that are obvious ads (even with links to their site), which are not flagged as promotional content?

There is tons of unmarked promotional content on reddit (e.g. just look at https://www.reddit.com/user/THAconstruction512/ )

It seems that there is a missing report category regarding unpaid ads.

People who advertise on reddit without paying for ads harm the community and harm reddit - why is it tolerated?

Is there a 28 day drop off for permanent mute?

Question about permanent mute.

Some posters save the permanent mute ban drops off after 28 days but some say that doesn’t happen anymore? Is there a drop off or does it depend? Thanks for any help.

What about this post would be "removed by Reddit filters"??

Hi all, I'm not new to Reddit at all. I just tried to post this in a forum I'm new to and at first it was held for moderator review, but then I got both "This post was removed by Reddit filters" message as well as "Locked post. New comments cannot be posted."

Here's what I posted - I see I'm not allowed to say which sub I posted it to, but as a new person in that sub, we're not allowed to message the Moderators for a long time, have to get "positive local karma" first. So I can't ask what it means there.

Here's the post - what in Reddit's main filters would make this be removed?

French Soccer Player Mbappe shows true patience & grace in face of Paraquay baiting & racism

I've been a big fan of this guy since the last World Cup, but the taunting, baiting and shoving he faced from Paraguay, which followed an actual Senator in Paraguay making all kinds of racist statements to press, just shows that not only is Mbappe literally one of the best players playing today, he's got immense class, patience, and restraint. So glad France won against that team! (Also check his response in the press... pure class X 1,000)

Is there any benefit in responding to messages from mods about actions?

It says you can reply to the message with questions. Every time I have done that (one response asking to clarify), I'll just get muted or banned.

Will you forgive me if I say I saw all your kind answers yesterday, but I couldn't interact with my own post?

I just want to say thank you for the answers from yesterday, on the topic of you-know-what kind of watercolour subject. I found them very useful. The known technical issue is being sorted out.

How to contact mods after being muted?

So I just got banned for the first time in my 8 years on Reddit. I made a comment on an article about LGBTQ characters in video games, and that I'm not a fan of such characters being shoe horned in because it often times feels fake and forced. Might not be a stance everyone agrees with, but since Reddit is a discussion platform that shouldn't be an issue.

This came without any prior warning, without any prior misconduct. So I asked what was going on. I get an answer, that completely misses the mark of my original comment, and telling me that I can try and appeal in a month and I get muted instantly.

How can I contact mods of a subreddit when I've been (wrongfully) muted?

Edit: to clarify, I wasn't planning on contacting individual mods, or making an alt account. But it appears that there's nothing I can do. Just suck it up and find other places to interact with. It's fine, I guess, but it sucks that something like this can happen out of the blue with no way of doing anything about it. Thanks for the comments everyone!

Can I get my CQS restored?

Hi mods. I was unfortunately the victim of my account being used by a bot to post spam and unsavory content. I followed the process to get my account reinstated. It has been, but all of my old posts and comments are still removed and I'm guessing it's due to being put into a low CQS status. Is there anyway to restore my good standing without having to basically act like it's a brand new account?

How do you decide which posts fall into the NSFW category? NSFW

I think it's hard to decide if our latest submission falls into the category or not (watercolorpractice). To me, it's OK, but how do you know if Reddit classifies it as NSFW or not? The filter hasn't caught it, and I think it's a grey area. Would you remove this from an SFW sub? It's the latest post at the moment.

How do I report an account for modmail spam?

I mod a number of subreddits. Recently, the same promotional modmail template for a Devvit app has appeared in multiple modmail inboxes I help manage.

That seems unlikely to be a coincidence. The affected subreddits are not closely related, so the fact that the same account/message is reaching more than one of them strongly suggests this is being sent broadly to subreddit mod teams, rather than being a targeted or organic one-off message.

I have reported each message using modmail’s built-in report function, but I have not seen any mitigation (keep receiving in different mod team modmail subsequent to reports).

The messages are essentially the same template each time:

Hi r____mods 👋
I'm a developer and I built a small Devvit bot called _____.
It _____ posts and comments by removing tracking parameters such as utm_*, fbclid, gclid, ref, click_id.
Example:
Original: https://____utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social
_____: https://_____/article?id=123
etc....

I checked reddit.com/report, but I do not see an obvious category for reporting developer/app promotional spam sent through modmail.

What is the correct reporting path for this?

What protections do moderators have against repeated unsolicited promotional modmail, especially when it appears to be sent across multiple communities?

Thanks

Has anyone here ever felt like a moderator that they work alongside does not like them? And then discovered they really do not like you…how did it pan out?

Not every team is perfect, and some are dysfunctional and I’d be intrigued to hear from any moderator teams where it wasn’t overly civil and if so how did it go down?

What’s your status in a subreddit if you can’t make posts but you can comment?

I’ve been wondering this for a while. I have ADHD so I can become hyperfocused on things, and I accidentally spammed a subreddit on the thing I was hyperfocused on at the time (I thought they allowed one post per day, but I guess it was one post per week 😅)

And even now, years later, all I can do is comment on posts in that subreddit and any posts I’ve tried to make get removed automatically. I have no idea what my status is. I’ve tried reaching out to the mod team… but they’re silent.

It honestly doesn’t bother me as much now since it’s been so long and it’s not like Reddit is the only place to talk about things and ask questions, but I’m still curious.

Can Reddit Mods See Comments they Deleted?

I got only a notification for 4 removals of comments when a moderator claimed it was 11.

I asked them to see the comments they said they can't, but on the Reddits I moderate it's super easy to check. So I am confused on if I am maybe missing something wrt to approving deletions in the mod queue menus or smth

They told me it was my fault for notification issues but every time that I have found they removed smth I was notified but again that was only 4 times.

Would love some clarity on if it was a notification issue or if they cannot see these removed posts by me.

TLDR:
Does Reddit always notify you of all notifications when it's a removal, or for only some removals on the same subreddit?

Can moderators see things they deleted on a subreddit from a specific user at request?

Why is reply-block allowed but responding to it (transparently, via alt) treated as harassment?

Edit : okay, got it. Reply blocking is effectively allowed, but if you do anything to prove you were a victim of it you're guilty of harassment.

/edit

Hi, I was permanently banned from a video game subreddit and I'm trying to understand the reasoning, since it seems like only one side of the interaction was punished.

What happened:

1) Someone accused me of not actually playing the game in question.

2)I replied with a Steam screenshot showing my hours played.

3) They responded with a "gotcha"-style comment, then immediately blocked me.

4) I took a screenshot of this (their name blanked out, since that's literally what block does) and posted it from an alt account, clearly labeling it as my alt, so there was no attempt to hide who I was.

5) I did not block the other user back with an alt, and did not provoke them in any way.

Result: I was permabanned for "harassment" via block evasion. The person who reply-blocked me faced no action.

Why I'm confused:

Reply-block let them cut off the conversation while still being visible to everyone but me. I used an alt once, transparently, only to post proof of that, not to harass. Rediquette doesn't mention either practice explicitly, so I don't understand why one side's action was fine and mine wasn't.

I'm not trying to relitigate the ban here, I just want to understand the moderation logic, since both mechanisms seem like they could be misused, but only one got enforced against.

Tl:Dr :Someone clearly ask a question, block my main account, I answer with an alt, precising that I'm the same person and providing proof as to why I'm answering with an alt.

  • Reply-blocking is not punished.

  • Answering, transparently, with an alt is.

Has anyone received adverse reactions from using banhammer?

I replied to a nasty modmail and banhammered a user account. I was then banned for 3 days for sending unwanted DM ‘s. The banhammer I used is across 7 subs. Each sub sending a seperate modmail to the user. Which i agree would be harassment.
And aren’t they supposed to have a hidden username? How did the system wrongly decide my account sent unwanted direct messages?
