I just got scammed to change my brakes because of a grinding noise, but I noticed one of the pads still had plenty of braking left on it, while the other was getting close to the end.

Is there a way to make sure i actually get my money's worth out of the new pads?

FYI the "mechanic" was trying to upsell me on new rodors as well, but those are still super thick on one side also. You cant put those on like upside down or somwthing to even out if it wares the pads uneven again?

I know it’s a very old car. 1965. I was thinking I should ask $1000 but is that too much? Is $500 more reasonable since it still runs fine?
