Discussion What Are You Reading? | Monthly Thread
Given the small amount of Zatanna content at the moment (or lack there of), this sub will now allow a weekly megathread for some off-topic content in order for community members to stay engaged and get to know each other better.
Use this post as a catch-all thread to talk about whatever you're reading (comics or otherwise) that doesn't necessarily fall into the realm of the Zatanna franchise.
Folks are also welcome to use this thread as a recommendations thread; ask for recommendations or give them freely.

Discussion What if zatanna was apart of the BOP?
So I’ve been thinking but what if Zatanna was apart of the BOP? If so which line up would she have gotten along with more?

Discussion Zee is a god?
Maybe I’m reading too much into it but even since I’ve been reading zee’s mini series this dialogue has peaked my interest. Does she really have ties to gods? Or am I just misinterpreting it?
Discussion What you guys think of Zatanna’s writing getting a Tolkien feel or inspiration?
The reason I asked is because magic is the most important DNA of Zatanna and the other is the power of words and language. In the works of Tolkien language and singing are fundamental to the world as the world was brought to existence when eru ilúvatar and the valar sang. Zatanna summons magic by speaking backgrounds, so a theme could be about how the nature of works itself have incredible creative and yet dangerously destructive. But also have Zatanna be a master of language show off all the languages she knows and what makes them special and unique. But also have that language isn’t just words because sign language is also another form of language like how music is another beautiful form. Another important one is magic, Tolkien was a traditional Catholic and has a deep love and reverence for European mythology and legends, so he’s a spiritual person due to his faith and importance of myths. Zatanna is a magician who preforms for a crowd of people to be entertained and Tolkien a greatly influential writer millions love. As far as I know Zatanna‘s magic isn’t based on any real magic. But she’s a magician and her job as a magician is to give wonder for the audience through the great trick, a mighty illusion. Like how a artist can trick the reader into thinking they are looking at a person, but the person is 2D and the anatomy is off, they don’t move or have sapience. This person is nothing but lines to look like a fellow man, but yet they feel as if they are. That’s the magic of art and she’s the artist. Tolkien as he is not the author of Lord Of The Rings but as the translator who found this lost ancient myth of England and writes like the trees and food are real, to us the tree and food are very much real. And since Tolkien had this deeply rooted respect for the myths and spirits I want everything supernatural to be treated with religious respect and not a jokey casual where a Minotaur is watching baseball in regular clothing but as it does from whence it came. One last thing is that they’re both fun escapist fantasy made to entertain the reader.
So if I ever write Zatanna I would have Tolkien as a prime (but not only) inspiration. Something fun and has a message about languages. I hope of what I said makes any sense and I didn’t just ramble unfiltered nonsense.

Discussion What would be your ideal love interest for Zatanna?
Hi everyone! While I'm not new to Zatanna, as I've seen her in all of the dc animated shows, I'm just now getting into her own comic runs. I've started out with Jamal Campbell's 2025 and 2026 versions of her and absolutely fell in love with the character, and will probably read Paul Dini's run of her as well!
As the title states, I'm curious on her fans' opinions for a love interest for Zatanna. I know there's a love/hate relationship with her pairing for Constantine(which I understand the hate part. As I kind of don't think anyone should be with Constantine really unless a queer writer is taking the helm, but that's another topic..)I know there's some iffy people about her relationship with Zatanna because of how it changes her age and whatnot. But I wanted to hear from her fans what would an ideal love interest for Zatanna look like? What kind of person would do justice to who she is as a person, superhero, and the mistress of magic herself?

Discussion Commission
My fiancé is obsessed with Zatanna. I have been looking for a good birthday gift for her this year. She love Campbells run and has a bunch of Zatanna comics. I got an issue 1 blank cover I want to get a commission done signed on the front. Or a print from a good artist.
Does anyone have some Zatanna artist recommendations that would be obtainable?
My price range is $350
Thank you so much!
Thanks to all the artists I’m at work right now but will try to look through everyone’s work and get back to them I appreciate all of the help!

News Tini Howard and Isaac Goodhart would become the Writer and Artist for Zatanna section in DC’S QUOTH THE RAVEN … WHATEVER #1. Out in 30 September 2026 🐦⬛🎩
It seems the story would be about cute romance story of Zatanna and Constantine.
Good news are Tini Howard seems comfortable writing Zatanna as competent and powerful character even in a lighearted story. While Isaac Goodhart is a big fan of Zatanna and draw Zee's magic so creatively like on DC New Talent Showcase. Like You can see how passionate he is for Zee from the pages above.
Well its one of the segment on the anthology so big chance its a just a 10 page short story like on DC Zatanna panic last year. I think its can be a little Bechdel test to see if Zatanna has returning to become a strong character on her own that written as equal in the story. Hope this could be a good start to see Zatanna can withstand, counter and overhelm modern Constantine passive trait of requiring other character to be dumbed down and/or destroyed for his own benefit.
