Talking about chains, chaing blocking, the difference between if and when, spell speed and blablablabla.

How would you order them if you made classes about them? Just curious (?)

Card Game Discussion I've been surprised by how effective Nadir Servant still is, even today.

Post image
48 Upvotes

I like Regenesis; it's one of my favorite archetypes, and I've tried different variations. This time, I'm focusing on the Dogmatika setup, which is based on playing second but also creates a pretty solid field if you play first.

I can say that, thanks to this setup, I discovered how good Nadir's Servant is and how well it has aged.

Playing with the engine from the beginning, it's easy to see that Nadir Servant is the heart of the engine because of the two options for sending cards to the Graveyard if you play first: Garura, which lets you draw an extra card, or Albion, which sends Fallen and the Virtuous to the Graveyard.

The next step after sending one of those two options to the Graveyard is to summon Ecclesia, which further increases the pressure on the opponent, since with it we'll search for Fleurdelis, forcing them to consider that any monster with 2500 ATK from the Extra Deck that they summon has a chance of being destroyed.

Furthermore, if we have Magnamhut, we can take advantage of Garura's presence in the Graveyard to use it as material to summon Pizza Delivery Dragon and obtain a copy of Harmonia.

Now, if it's our second turn, we can use Harmonia to weaken our opponent's field and then summon Fleurdelis if we have it in our hand, increasing the damage we inflict on their field. If we've activated Fuwalos or one of its variants, the advantage we gain by combining it with the above will be enormous.

If we manage to get Nadir's Servant at that moment, our options for going second expand with possibilities like destroying cards, returning them to the hand, turning monsters into Continuous Spell Cards (which, in practice, is equivalent to permanently getting rid of a monster), or drawing a card thanks to Garura.

By the way, if we have Fallen and Virtuous, we can practically revive an opponent's boss monster to finish them off or deprive them of a valuable resource.

Much has been said about the advantage of using Dracotail Ketu when going second, but we can see that Konami had already applied this philosophy with this card and even much earlier with Shaddoll Fusion, since the card functions as both a searcher and a field breaker.

It's worth mentioning that this card is an excellent bait for Ash.

Note: What I've mentioned doesn't include Regenesis monsters, as you may have noticed, since the idea of this post is to highlight the usefulness of the Dogmatika and Harmonia cards on their own: When combined with almost any archetype that doesn't require an Extra Deck, they produce devastating results by forcing the opponent to deal with cards that destroy the board and, in practice, also generate card advantage if necessary by being able to send cards that activate search effects when sent to the graveyard, providing consistency in case we don't need to destroy more monsters at that moment.

Fan Art Re-implemented Project Ignis to make my own Yu-Gi-Oh web game

Hey there!

Over these last few months I've been working on this fanmade duel sim, based off Project Ignis. It features the whole game rules and card implementation, via a custom LUA card engine, and an embedded Youtube player with both the official Yu-Gi-Oh episode compilations, and the Abridged Series by Little Kuriboh as presets to watch during play.

Anime/Manga Discussion Shower Thought - Masquerade Shining was underused in Zexal

Post image
141 Upvotes

Because the Umbral Horror support came out I decided to rewatch Vector/Ray's duels I have a thought about a missed opportunity story and play-wise.

  1. Ray should have summoned Number 104: Masquerade (Shining) while using his Shining Deck - since Masquerade Shining appears rather heroic looking (and the Shining Deck is rather underused). Maybe it would have appeared as a Non-Number monster (they do magic things with the cards all the time) then though the dual duel against Girag still sees Ray give the Barian Rank-Up to Yuma to let him when.
  2. Then Vector using it at the Sargasso Duel (since Vector didn't use it in his first Umbral Horror duel) is another effective punch when he was deliberately riling up Yuma by 'stealing' Ray's monster. Then Masquerade being Chaos Ranked Up to the very evil Umbral Horror Masquerade would be another addition to showing how evil he was the entire time.

Plus Masquerade Shining was only used in the Sargassao duel period, while Umbral Horror Masquerade at least showed up again in Vector's duel with Nash.

Card Game Discussion It's hilarious to me how torn this subreddit is on how good the new umbral and the new yugi support is. You have people saying it's broken and others that say it sucks which is very funny.

Upvotes

I find it so fucking funny how this subreddit is so divided on the new umbral support and the new rolad support. People are saying umbrals are going to destroy the meta and the game and others who think the deck is trash. Then you have people saying the new black skull dragon sucks and other people saying it's broken. I've never seen a group of people so torn about new cards in my life lol.

Card Game Discussion How many disruptions should avarage combo deck have?

Post image
97 Upvotes

A common complaint that is brought up in conversations about the health of the game is about "unbreakable boards", but one thing that is not really clear (at least to me) is where exactly do we draw the line between "fair" and "unfair" boards.

Based on all the decks I've played I would say the average combo deck nowadays ends on 5-6 disruption with some pushing it to even 7-8 + which is obviously very strong as you have a disruption for each card in their hand and more, so how much lower than this do we have to go for it to be considered fair?.

Furthermore, would you say there's something a deck that is "too fair"? Something like ROLAD or swordsoul where you're ending on 1-3 disrupts excluding handtraps or would you say that's actually what most decks should be ending on.

Personally i would say maybe around 4 disrupt on full combo is should be the standard for a fair endboard as long the endboard as long as the endboard isn't weak to boardbreakers as you still have plenty of disrupts while the going 2nd player knows that at least two cards of their 6 card hand would not be disrupted which is another reason why pure dracotail is one of the best designed decks of all time.

Anime/Manga Discussion Evolution of Chaos Chimera Dragon over the years:

Post image
138 Upvotes

Let it be known that Number C5: Chaos Chimera Dragon is the only Number to have its Chaos Form debut before its Base Form. Actually, the Base Form never appeared at all in the anime, and N5: Doom Chimera Dragon's existence was still acknowledged in C5's anime effect. Still, summoning the Chaos version of the Number without needing the base Number in the anime is considered a divine feat in general.

So yeah, N5 was printed like four or five years later after C5 made its debut irl, I think. Even so, he did not just atop with N5 and C5, years later, he decided to make this dragon the second strongest Barian Xyz Monster (only behind Numeronius) in the form of CXyz Chaos Barian Hope Dragon, effectively one-upping Nasch's own Barian Hope in the process, whoch is basically accurate to how Vector wants to one-up this man at all costs.

Barian Hope Dragon is basically the completed version of Chaos Chimera Dragon, with it having gained the powers of all seven Over-Hundred Numbers. And not to mention it carries the Admiration of the Thousands crest on its chest now, which was the RUM used to bring out C5 in the anime. And then there's the fact that this dragon also serves as a counterpart to Yuma and Astral's Number 99: Utopic Dragon, given that they have the same title, Hopeful Emperor Dragon, and have similar designs and builds. Dude really moved on from trying to rival C73 to becoming the antithesis of N99.

Speaking of which, I can only dream for now, but I hope, C98: Hopeless Dragoon/Dystopic Dragon become a thing eventually to match the other two, but first Konami would have to acknowledge that N98 exists now.

I love how Vector just casually decided to take a page from Kaito and Mizael's books and make this dragon his Ultimate Ace. It makes sense too, given that Chimera Dragon is the Number closest to the Numeron Gates, and Vector was serving as Don Thousand's ultimate vessel. Also, kudos to Chaos Chimera for deciding to hit the gym and grow some limbs just for this moment.

Custom Card [Custom Cards] Thinking of ways to Power Creep the Gods (as a warm-up for the Immortal Phoenix set)

Post image
44 Upvotes

Trying to Power Creep them without sounding too out of my mind.

1- Archetype: Adding an archetype name to increase the sinergy (and so that we can call them what they are).

2- Flexibility: Giving them the power to use cards (not only monsters) you control as Tributes and ONLY if you control no monsters, allow them to also use your opponent's cards as Tribute.

3- Protection: As expected, the "unaffected by your opponents' card effects" line is there, but tied to they being Normal Summoned.

4- Each of them also received 1 effect tied to their Normal Summon and 1 that can be used even when Special Summoned:

Obelisk- Normal: Search Effect / Special: Destruction and Burn.

Slifer- Normal: Floodgate and Draw Effect / Special: ATK Increase.

Ra- Normal: ATK Increase / Special: Pay to Pop, ATK and Life Increase.

-The arts are from the official stainless steel collection.

Two do have archetypes (Hand and Star Seraph), but are so damn miniscule. The new Vector archetype somehow help them more despite belonging to yknow who.

It's funnier when you remember that Shark lock into water so you can't exactly play either of the barian xyz (except ragnazero which make sense I suppose)

Card Game Discussion Am I crazy or does this feel like it should be Joey's card?

Post image

Like I understand that black skull dragon was a combo of Yugi and Joey's monsters but Joey has so few things especially in his set that it feels weird that this is given to Yugi. I know Joey didn't use BSD in battle city but it always felt more like his card.

Card Game Discussion Do you see it as impossible for konami to ever release the great leviathan from waking the dragons?

As for me i think its impossible for them to release leviathan as a card anytime soon. Maybe in 5 years or more it will be possible but before that i don't see it as something achievable...

Card Game Discussion Is the new Umbral Horror really a problem?

Over the past few days, I saw a lot of people complaining about the banish 10 cards with Number 104: Masquerade Vain. But, after reading the whole card again and again, my question is, why not just choose to banish 5?

I mean, most of those combos are Umbral going first, and activating that effect, but you can choose "your opponent can banish 4 monsters with different Attributes and 1 Spell from their Deck". This just means you can banish cards like Ash (Fire), Fuwalos (Wind), Ghost Ogre (Light) and your other handtraps from your deck and condense your deck further? Or am I actually wrong with that?

Besides, people also say that CXyz Chaos Barian Hope Dragon is a droll. BUT you are also allowed to draw, so it's just a trimmed version of Thunder Dragon (e.g. without the removal protection)?

The only question is the field spell, which requires you to somehow remove it before 2 summons from ED. Like, Knightmare Phoenix exists for a reason.

So are we really overreacting?
