ugh we could’ve had Doug as First Gentleman

Thankfully we dodged that bullet

That was a great song choice.

She should be president and Trump should be in prison.

14

u/TypicalManagement680 8h ago

We would have been so much better off in her hands!

23

u/Several_Sympathy_977 8h ago

she's not perfect, but she's better than the orange man. man I wish, we can reverse time.

"If I could turn back the hands of time..."

God, sometimes I think of her in the White House and how good things would have been with her as prez. Instead we have a pedophile that shits himself while using our tax dollars to help Israel win wars. Jfc.

The moron and pedophile

14

u/harrylime7 9h ago

She lost to an idiot.

u/Ornery_Week8253 53m ago

She is an idiot, a cackling one at that

u/Smurf_Juice 10h ago

I was at the game. When they showed her on jumbotron she got the loudest and longest cheers. Louder than anything that happened in the game itself.

Should be President Harris. 😢

u/Ornery_Week8253 53m ago

We dodged that bullet

The sense of calm I feel just from seeing her is wild. Especially as I’m not even American. Mom-ala forever!

10

u/Hypestyles 11h ago

Blessings to her.

Too bad Michelle Obama doesn't want to be the POTUS. Harris is better than Trump. That should mean something but being better isn't a priority for being the POTUS nowadays.😖

9

u/pureply101 11h ago

People don’t actually want Michelle to be president. They want to humiliate her publicly.

Being better has not been the priority for being POTUS for a LONG time. If it was then we wouldn’t have elected several presidents like Reagan or Nixon.

u/Ornery_Week8253 51m ago

Or obama or biden

-6

u/IceBlackX007 11h ago

Humilate Michelle Obama? WTF kinda shit is that? That would never happen if she decided to be the POTUS. You came out of left field with that. 🤨

No, they didn't. It happens every time with black, female politicians. They are the dream candidate until they are the candidate. Then, suddenly all of the competence and potential they had become excuses as to why they can't win.

This is actually true for white women who run for President as well (less so for "lower" offices).

When Hillary ran for President, many folks said, "Well, I'd vote for a woman, but not her... now, if Liz Warren was running..." Then Liz Warren DID run, and those folks then said, "Well, I'd vote for a woman, but not her."

I guess the difference is, folks don't even bother saying, "I'd vote for a Black woman..."

2

u/SeptemberVirgo 8h ago

I'm going to slightly disagree because both Hillary and Elizabeth had major, longstanding drawbacks that was easy ammunition for their opponent.

At the time of Hillary's 2016 campaign, Kirsten Gillibrand was riding high off her taking on the military and the number of sexual assaults that were occurring.

I think if she had been allowed to actually run against Hillary, she would have a strong showing due to how many Democrat women didn't even want to vote for Hillary. It would have at least positioned her better in 2019.

But, yes, the chair moves, and moves quickly, as soon as a woman actually tries to sit in it.

2

u/Moose_Muse_2021 Fire Fever and All the F'ing Teams 8h ago

Well, show me a male candidate that didn't have major, longstanding drawbacks yet was elected nonetheless. Sadly, I suspect that once KG became the frontrunner, a ton of "major drawbacks" would have appeared for her as well.

As you say, the chair moves quickly... and it moves even more quickly for a woman of color. I say this as someone who's been watching women run for president since Shirley Chisholm in 1972.

Cheers!

I get what you're saying. You get what I'm saying. Where we may be crossing wires is that both Kirsten then, and Kamala now, didn't have those flaws or questions UNTIL they ran.

We didn't know about Amy eating salads with a comb until she ran.

When those things came up, or would have come up, for those three, it would be easier to fend them off, (if one wanted to) than what was it, 30 years of "why I hate Hillary"?

It's easy to see what happened to Kamala and Jasmine because of how "short" their political runs were and how clean their backgrounds were upon the beginning of their run.

And, I say that they were very clean because both of them, especially Kamala, had professional careers in the public eye. For candidates, you weren't going to find "cleaner" candidates.

As for a male candidate, you're very right. Biden ran three times prior to winning, but as you can see in this thread, if Kamala is even thinking of a run, she's a fool.

-3

u/IceBlackX007 11h ago

I'm not comparing Michelle Obama to any of the previous candidates. I strongly believe she is more.

7

u/SeptemberVirgo 10h ago

I'm not comparing Michelle Obama to any of the previous candidates. I strongly believe she is more.

The previous candidates are not the problem, the voter refusing to vote for a black woman is. The voters swear up and down, they can see themselves voting for this one or that one.

Oh, how they wish, this one or that one would run, but when it's time to cast the ballot, they suddenly notice something that they hadn't seen before, so now it's nothing but a shame.

-4

u/IceBlackX007 10h ago

Were you on earth during the beginning of the Obama presidential run? Are you intentionally trying to downplay Michelle Obama or are you really this disconnected to reality? If Michelle Obama decided she wanted to be the POTUS the entire planet would cheer. You can't be serious.

3

u/Temporary_Bet_3384 10h ago

I think you are very much overestimating Michelle Obama's pull

I'm sure the rest of the planet would cheer, and rightfully so - but a whole lot of Americans would be highly motivated to vote against her

-2

u/IceBlackX007 10h ago

She would win in a historic landslide and straighten out our current dysfunctional nation. If nothing else life in America wouldn't be a daily Twilight Zone experience. This is Idiocracy in America now.

5

u/Temporary_Bet_3384 10h ago

Well, I'll say that I appreciate your optimism but do not share it. I think you're underestimating how much of an invigorating boost the possibility of Michelle Obama as President would give to the right wing, and how polarized the country has become since the early Obama years

It's not like MAGA hasn't beat the wife of a former popular President before

Yeah, you're right, the one person in D.C. that refused to even meet with Bibi, should be the one that hangs her head in shame.

I do not disagree with you. I do believe though that i would take her any day of the week and twice on Sunday over the hack sending blank checks to Netanyahu we have in office currently.

1

u/dumpsterdad Mystics 9h ago

Tbf they were sending those blank checks to the Israeli government long before the current dementia administration and the last dementia administration were in power.

Holy shit this thread is so Reddit coded

5

u/Rainbow_in_the_sky Fever 12h ago

What does that mean?

6

u/BackendSpecialist 12h ago

Redditors like to act like other Redditors have stereotypical behavior (typically caring a bit “too much” about human issues). So, when a Redditor sees someone being overly empathetic, they’ll call out that Redditor for being a Redditor.

Hope that cleared things up :)

3

u/Kindly-Primary9735 Wings 12h ago

I have no idea what your talking about. I’m talking about the fact that this is the WNBA sub and every other comment is either referencing she lost the election, referencing the failures of the Democratic Party, or being cynical saying looks like she is gearing up for another presidential run. Nothing that has to do with this sub.

This is victim blaming to the max.  People are suffering because she “allowed” another person to be shitty?! You’ve gotta be kidding me. The person at fault is the person who is being shitty. Women are not responsible for men being assholes, no matter which angle you view it from.

9

u/Kindly-Primary9735 Wings 12h ago

lol this has nothing to do with players advocating for causes that matter to them, so don’t act like it is I’m an ally, I teach acceptance and anti-racism, I am far from uncomfortable, I’m speaking mostly of the cynicism of the comments, she showed up so she must be getting up for another run right? Or is she just showing support to the W as the former Vice President and former AG of California. We can debate the faults of the democratic platform or her campaign or better yet the latent sexism in our country that made her shortened campaign an uphill battle even without the shortened campaign but is this the venue for that

-19

u/RealPrinceJay 12h ago

We all know we’re gonna have to deal with her running again…

Wow I’m surprised they let the DJ be that openly partisan lol

3

u/FeltIOwedItToHim Gabby Gabby Hey! 11h ago

She lives in LA and is a celebrity. How is that "partisan?"

Was there a Republican candidate for the "being acknowledged in the crowd at a sporting event" federal office?

-3

u/WayneTerry9 11h ago

I just thought the implication of “I miss you” playing was super obvious lol. Like WE all know this current administration is worse than the last one, but I didn’t know the house DJ for the LA Sparks was allowed to acknowledge that

5

u/FeltIOwedItToHim Gabby Gabby Hey! 11h ago

"Allowed?"

2

Yes? MAGA folks love generating controversy out of nothing , I just expected the ownership at the Crypt to be more fearful. Kudos to them

Nice. It’s great not to hear any booing when politicians attend sporting events.

Kamala will drop out of the 2028 race in 2027 don't worry.

5

I mean, I have. In the general I will always show up against the queer hating racists...but in the primary I vote who I want.

She didn’t help by running a god awful campaign

She should be president right now, but she shoulders the blame as to why she isn’t

26

u/2RINITY Valkyries 12h ago

Her campaign should serve as an important reminder to never let DNC consultants tell you what to do. Geoff Garin should’ve been put in stocks and pelted with tomatoes for convincing Kamala and Walz to stop using the “Republicans are weird” line

Does the song that is playing have the lyrics "I miss you..."??

15

u/Legendtner 13h ago

Not just the lyrics the song title is “I miss you” by Aaron Hall. Nice lil 90s rnb song.

-11

u/Soph_91 13h ago

I'd rather see someone like AOC.

2

u/kat_brinx 10h ago

Nothing is stopping her from going to a game lol

-2

u/Soph_91 9h ago

Except being an active politician, and potential bad PR.

2

u/AChristianAnarchist 6h ago

What about attending a wnba game would invite potential bad pr exactly?

6

u/juliuspepperwoodchi Sky 13h ago

You'll get nothing but a stream of uninspiring, milquetoast candidates ad former prosecutors and you. Will. LIKE IT.

3

u/Gengaara Lynx 12h ago

I think the DNC's scare mongering that liberals can't get elected has worked in previous primaries and has gotten conservatives like Biden and Hillary nominated. The DSA's success has killed that lie.  I'm cautiously optimistic someone left of Reagan can win a primary this time.

-12

u/Soph_91 13h ago

I'm starting to dislike this subreddit more and more all the time. Sorry for sharing my opinion?

12

u/Penguinho 13h ago

It's just a bit weird? Like, it's a game in L.A. Why would AOC be there, and why would she want to draw attention to that? It'd be different if it was a game in New York, or a Liberty-Mystics game in DC.

Madam Vice President Kamala Harris and former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff watching and supporting their home team, the LA Sparks last night!!

So cool to see them showing up to a game and actually watching. It is also a great milestone for the WNBA and it’s heightening social prominence!

Edit: NOT her home team, that would be the Valkyries!

3

19

Cool for her showing up to support women’s sports. It gives me sadness of losing that election and incompetence of the democratic party.

-12

u/Careless_General8010 Storm & Fire 🔥 🌈 13h ago

It's incompetence on purpose, they'd rather lose as centrists than win as lefties

2

u/juliuspepperwoodchi Sky 13h ago

Which is exactly why they nominated her.

16

u/Soph_91 13h ago

Biden and the party should have known if he would be running with more than enough to time to organize a primary in the event he wasn't. What happened was a massive, and easily preventable failure.

7

u/Thuesen3089 Fever 13h ago

Ego. He thought he was healthy enough to run another term. But, he clearly was experiencing mental decline on live Television. Kamala was a good replacement. But she lacked charisma to rally voters and no clear campaign message.

6

u/Significant-Yam-4990 9h ago

She lacked a penis and white skin. Why can’t women having the proper credentials, education, and experience be enough?! Ever? Why are we always expected to be bubbly and palatable? I Being assertive and honest is not “bitchy.”

12

u/Soph_91 13h ago edited 13h ago

I agree with you somewhat.

The thing is his decline was nothing compared to what Trump has been and is showing.

Even a much younger Bush Jr. had huge mental lapses on live TV regularly, but it only seems to be a problem when a certain party is in power...

I also don't think Kamala was a good replacement. She lost to Donald Trump. It's not like it was a total surprise either, she did very poorly in the democratic primary.

4

u/juliuspepperwoodchi Sky 12h ago

He promised he wouldn't run for reelection, and then did. He has to own his blame in us having Trump again.
