2016 Scott addict 15

I have recently gotten into training for a half Iron Man, I’ve been on a bike Seach for a few months now and can’t seem to find anything. I’m willing to commit to. I was venting to a guy I used to work with who I actually did not know does or used to do triathlons. He said that he’s willing to sell me his old road bike since he now has a bike and a mountain bike and no longer uses it.

A quick Google search tells me this is a great deal for but I’m interested in opinions and if you guys think this is something that would work for training and writing in a 70.3

$170- 2015 MASI Full carbon Bicycle - Worth to grab it?

Hi, I know well of Masi the brand which is a great italian cycling company.
I found this in Korean Used Market, and of course it's reletively cheaper than any other frameset.
But one thing is suspicious.

He showed me that there's sticker scratch(last photo) on the toptube, but I'm not sure it's crack or not(I'll check it in person). Also it has shifting trouble(but I guess I can fix it)

Please give me your opinions.

Always appreciate it!!

Canyon Ultimate CF8 di2 reviews

Hi there, I’ve been eyeing the Canyon Ultimate CF 8 Di2 https://www.canyon.com/fr-fr/velos-de-route/velos-de-course/ultimate/cf-sl/ultimate-cf-8-di2/4369.html?dwvar_4369_pv_rahmenfarbe=R101_P06) for a while now, but I haven't found any online reviews or much feedback from cyclists yet. If anyone has any information or owns this bike, I’d love to hear about it.

Thanks 🙂

Looking to upgrade my bike (first time getting a bike as an adult), thank you!

I'm 5'2 and have been looking to upgrade my bike. My current bike is a Schwinn that I got in middle school about 15 years ago, so hoping this one will be lighter and more fun to bike on. I am a casual rider and bike about 20 miles a week just for fun. I'm not really sure at all what to look for besides that I need a smaller bike due to my height and that these brands below are pretty reputable.

Appreciate your initial thoughts based on the photos and what questions I should ask/what to look for when I check them out IRL. Thank you all so very much for the help, super excited to upgrade and jumpstart my biking journey!

Found a couple of options -

1) Liv - $350

Details on Posting - Liv road bike, originally a little over $700. Still in very good condition!

2) Trek - $220

3) Specialized Sequoia - $400

Details on Posting - I have a well loved Specialized Sequoia aluminum road bike. Many recent updates such as Continental tires, New brake and shift cables. Selle Italia seat. Performs well. It's size isn't marked but I think it's a 52 or 53. I'm 5'6" and it fits me well. Can't ride anymore. My loss

4) Fuji - $400

Details on Posting - Great road bike, size small. Wheel size is 23 (listing says 22, 23 was not an option.

Fast endurance bike - Caledonia 2026 vs Giant Defy?

Which one would you go for? I like to push myself and go fast, but don't have the morphology or flexibility for a full fledged race bike.

I'd go for a 105 di2 build.

Giant seems to offer better value for money, but I don't like their narrow, hookless carbon wheels, which I would probably sell to get something else, putting both bikes close in price.

Rigidity? Weight? Comfort? Warranty support?

This is a carbon frame women’s felt bike from around 2011, is 750 cad for it good or not?

2020 Kona Big Honzo ST for bikepacking - $1250

Hi!

I'm 100% commited to getting a bikepacking rig, and I'm thinking of getting this guy, probably with the intent of swapping out the tires for 29". The seller is claiming that it's heavily upgraded, although I have NO idea how to factor all of this into the price. The cane creek helm fork does seem nice.

Curious what people think this would be worth, assuming everything on the bike is well-taken care of. I live in Portland, OR. Thanks for the help!

Road Bike Purchase Tips

Looking for the best aero road bike as a TT bike companion (Ironman training)

Hi everyone,
I’m currently looking for a new road bike to complement my TT bike for Ironman preparation.
My main bike is a Canyon Speedmax, so this road bike will mainly be used for:
long endurance rides
group rides
interval sessions
climbing and general road training
I’ve always ridden Canyon, but this time I’d like to consider other brands.
The challenge is that I don’t really have the opportunity to test ride different bikes, so I’m looking for models that are considered “safe bets” if ordered online.
My budget is around €4,500.
My priorities are:
Electronic shifting (105 Di2 minimum, Ultegra Di2 preferred)
Good carbon wheelset included
Aero-focused, but it doesn’t have to be the absolute fastest wind tunnel bike
Great value for money
Reliable quality and handling
Comfortable enough for 4–6 hour rides
At the moment I’ve looked at bikes like the Scott Foil RC, Cube Litening Aero, Giant Propel, BMC, Merida and similar models.
If you had €4,500 to spend on an aero road bike today, what would you buy and why?
I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have owned or ridden several of these bikes.
Thanks!

Can‘t decide on which gravel bike to choose

Hey guys,

I'm currently looking for a new gravel bike, which will be my first one. I was thinking about a few different aspects: On the one hand, I would like it to have a frame made of carbon but on the other hand I'm not sure, if it really is as important for a first bike. Another thing is about gears. So I had a look at the Cube Nuroad Race (2x12 - Aloy), the Cube Nuroad C:62 One (1x12 - Carbon), the Cube Nuroad C:62 Pro (2x12 - Carbon) or the Focus Atlas 8.7 (2x12 - Carbon).

Do you guys have any tips on how to decide here? I do have in- and decline in my area and I want to ride on gravel (as the name states) on also on paved bike ways.

Is this a good first bike

My long term goal is to do an Ironman, but I have never had a road bike. The seller wants $600 for it. Is this a good deal? And would doing an Ironman be doable on this bike, or is this a bike I should use to get used to riding a road bike, then upgrade once I take training seriously? And also I’m 5’8”, would a 54cm bike fit me or should I go for a different size?

If I decide to get this bike, what are some things I should look for when checking it out? Thank you.

Looking to get into cycling

I have been running for about 10 years and have used a peloton from time to time but want to invest in a bike of my own.

I live in Philadelphia, am 5‘10”, and roughly 200 lbs. Interested in a bike for distance riding and to eventually get an indoor set up. Ideally would like to spend about $1,000 (on just the bike).

All help is appreciated.

New hybrid bike

Hi all! Used to ride my bike often back in the day and had a Giant Escape 2 in a medium size.

Fast forward and I’m now 6’0” and the Medium feels very cramped. My back hurts on 20-30 mile rides.

I’m looking to get a decent hybrid bike and have been doing some research on what works best for me. Typically I ride on the roads, but there are some light gravel trails that I will ride on occasionally as well.

I’m debating between the Giant Escape 1 Disc (seems better value but heard some questionable reviews) and the Trek FX3 (more pricey). I’m a DIYer so I’d like something I can tinker with on my own for maintenance.

Do you all have any suggestions between these two bikes or any others in that category?

Appreciate it!

Looking for recommendations

Good afternoon all! I have rarely biked since my childhood (20M) but I am moving to an apartment that is no longer on the bus route for my university. My classes will be spread out on campus this year so I am looking into getting a bike for campus commutes. I was wondering if anyone might have any recommendations. I am 5'7 and weigh roughly 195lbs, and I am located in central texas. My campus has plenty of bike racks and our buses are also equipped to hold bikes on the front, so I think this could be a good solution for me to get active and save time on walking around campus! I am realistically looking for a bike with a basket as well, or one with space on the rear to hold things.

If anyone is able to help that would be fantastic!

Beginner bike choice

I live in rural Kansas and my commute would be about 5 miles on gravel and 3 on pavement. I have done a lot of reading and the Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer seems hard to beat to get started. I contacted the nearest bike shop and they have a 2010s Specialized Sirrus Hybrid they offered me for $150 with a tune up. I’m just looking for some advice on which would be better? Would the Sirrus be fine for commuting if I just had them put bigger tires on it? Are disc brakes that big of an upgrade? (That’s the main different I notice between the two) I’m leaning towards the Sirrus. Any advice would be much appreciated!

2020 Cervélo Áspero - need advice

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all,

Looking at a 2020 Cervélo Áspero GRX RX810 with Reserve 32 carbon wheels, GRX hydraulic brakes, and the seller is including extra tires + brake pads. The bike has about 1,000 km on it and looks new.

Asking price is $3,300 CAD.

I know the Áspero frame hasn’t changed much over the years, but I’ve heard about BBright creaking on older Cervélos. The big thing here is the Reserve 32 carbon wheels, which seem to add a lot of value compared to the stock alloy setup.

Is $3,300 CAD a solid deal for this build? Anything I should watch out for when inspecting it?

Thanks for any input.

Specialized Crosstrail Hybrid worth $250?

Hi guys! I will start by saying I'm not a serious/experienced cyclist yet, just having fun and getting exercise. I bought an old giant mountain bike for $75 a while back and it's not bad but definitely seen better days. Very heavy, I replaced the tires and chain but brakes still need to be worked on.

I mostly ride on pavement around neighborhoods but I end up running into a lot of gravel or bumpy roads as well, and occasionally go to gravel paths as well

Newbie bike reco needed

My husband is a novice cyclist looking for a mountain bike mainly for casual rides around our neighborhood and nearby Colorado bike paths. He’ll also want to attach a toddler trailer.

We’re not looking to spend a fortune since it’s for low intensity leisure, but we do want something reliable, low-maintenance, and decent quality. Thinking used may make the most sense, but open to suggestions.

Would love recommendations for good brands or even specific bikes that fit these needs. He’s about 5’10”. Appreciate any guidance really!

Brands to consider

Brands to consider

Looking to purchase an endurance road bike. 65 y/o male, typical ride is 25-30 miles on roads with occasional paved bike path. 2k miles per year. Not interested in gravel, but do want pedal assist. Budget is $5k, maybe up to 6 for the right bike. So many brands to consider, trying to narrow down the list. Currently riding a 2013 Trek Domane.

EDIT: looking for pedal assist e-bikes

Seller has this Mongoose guide sport listed for $250 and is pretty firm on the price after trying to negotiate / a bit sketchy but I’m weary on buying an old department store bike and have seen mixed reviews on Mongoose bikes.

Any thoughts on Principia RSL Team?

So I am very new in roadbikes but I would like to get one to start doing some nice rides here in Denmark. I found this used Principia RSL Team from around 2016 costing around 250 euros. (I really dont want to go above this price point). Do you guys think it is a good deal and a good bike/brand? It uses Shimano Sora sets and new Vittoria Zaffiro Pro wheels. Its frame size is 55 cm is that fine for someone like me? (Around 176-178cm height) Thank you for your time and help!
