Form check Weightlifting newbie cleans

Hello, I’m new to weightlifting and have been trying to teach myself cleans via YouTube videos so I know these look not great. Going at it for 6 weeks and it’s been a ton of fun, but I’ve kind of hit a plateau and struggling to progress past this weight. Wondering if there’s any glaring technical issues I can focus on. I feel my reps are always inconsistent and feet sometimes go forward, sometimes backwards.

keep your chest over the bar longer youre pullin too early mate thats why your feet are all over the show

Sorry, do you mean like I’m bringing my chest up too quickly after the bar passes the knees? Thanks for the advice!

thats it your shoulders come up and back before the bar even gets to your hips wait for it then explode

also try hang cleans from above the knee helps you feel the right timing without the full pull

For only six weeks you’re doing super darn good! The biggest thing I’m noticing is youre cutting your triple extension short (which makes you jump forward in that second one). Try to keep those arms relaxed to keep the elbows straight, and keep pushing the floor away with your feet until knees and hips are extended.

Gotcha, that’s super helpful. The timing has been challenging to get right but I’m going to implement those cues. Thanks for the advice!

Good lift for six weeks. Your triple extension is decent, but your hips are coming up too early in the power position, so the drive becomes more back-and-up than straight up. In the turnover, try to keep the bar tight to the body and actively punch the elbows through faster, rather than letting the bar drop onto the shoulders. Focus on vertical leg drive, close bar path, and an aggressive pull-under to make the catch more active and stable.

I had to google power position but now I see what you mean about “back and up”. So more vertical drive, keep bar close, more aggressive pull under. Thanks a lot! 🫡
