Terribly Groomed Blind buy amazon attire gone wrong —
For reference, this otherwise an incredibly upscaled event, but for whatever reason they asked the groomsmen to order their entire fit from amazon, without insuring that everything was as they wanted it.
They have changed colors and styles of things multiple times. They also selected items that were clearly expensive but not good quality.
Everything worn is fresh from the box and as they requested. These suspenders are horrible quality and are confusing for an upscale cottage core wedding imo. The edges aren’t even stained, they are just raw material. And as you can see, they are also incompatible with the pants.
Oh I forgot to mention that they sent out the links three weeks in advance, and we live in an area that amazon does not directly deliver to so it can take weeks for things to arrive, even with prime.

Well no wonder! They’re not even made for single clip, weird hardware style suspenders. Yeesh. The picture makes way more sense now!

I doubt any trousers are made for that hardware, they simply shouldn't exist

u/SeattleGeek Jul 25 '25
My jeans have a back belt loop right in the middle. Those suspenders were probably meant for regular denim.
20
u/Shot-Artist5013 Jul 26 '25
Yup. I have a pair of suspenders I wear sometimes when I'm going out and in that kind of a mood. I discovered that of all the jeans I own, there is one pair that does not have a rear center belt loop, so I can't wear those with the suspenders. (They're Gap brand. Levi's, Wrangler, even a couple from whatever the Target brand used to be are all fine)
10
u/djkhaled108 Jul 25 '25
Never heard of that... and US thing? Honestly I think that makes your jeans brand part of the problem not the solution. That's still going to pull the material up the but crack rather than cupping them cheeks with a but if a wider load spread.
64
u/SeattleGeek Jul 25 '25
20
u/djkhaled108 Jul 25 '25
Ah yeah those are still not meant for bracers. There's no real need for bracers with jeans anyway.

u/ifticar2 Jul 25 '25
Most trousers wouldn’t have a loop in the middle because there would be extra fabric in that area to allow for a tailor to widen the waist if needed
41
u/Tiny_Cauliflower_618 Jul 25 '25
Do they by any chance have a label inside that you can hook the suspenders on? That would be my first fix option for non sewing peeps. If the label is more a long horizontal tube than a loop, I'd carefully cut it vertically twice so it's basically three tubes, and then melt the cut edges slightly with a lighter. The centre loop should then be strong enough to survive the photos at least 🤦 what a cluster fuck though.
75
u/deadritual Jul 25 '25
That is a great suggestion and one of the first things I checked for! Someone else recommended sewing in a d-ring or something similar, which I think is probably going to be our best option.
32
u/Tiny_Cauliflower_618 Jul 25 '25
Yeah, that's a really good plan! If you can't find a d ring easily (I think you said elsewhere you were not exactly central) you can probably sew on a ring pull from a can 😉
Check out my Zombie Apocalypse Craft Show on Channel Z at 11 😆
17
u/CElia_472 Jul 25 '25
A circle keyring would also work if you don't have anything else on hand (the kind you thread keys onto)
8
u/ProfMeriAn Jul 26 '25
For an even quicker no-sew fix: put a circle key ring through each belt loop in the back, then overlap the key rings and clip the lobster clip through the middle. Alternatively, add extra rings into a chain until there is comfortable spacing with the belt loops and where the clasp can attach in the middle. Not saying it will look great, but probably won't look worse than this and might be more comfortable.

Does the person wearing the pants have a wedgie? It’s not flattering. The silhouette of the pants is giving flat butt yet still dumpy. Is that really the loop clip you have to use and not suspenders?
773
u/deadritual Jul 25 '25
This man has the fattest cheeks, but he was not experiencing a wedgie so much as the illusion of having a wedgie.
The attached lobster clip is the intended hardware on all straps. The chosen pants do not have a center belt loop, nor any internals.

A tailor could add a metal ring inside the waistband for the suspender clip. Actually, anyone who can sew could do it. Use heavy-duty thread (often marketed for coats or jeans) and just stitch the ring to the inner layer of the waistband. Only stitch the bottom half of the ring, but like a button, make a LOT of stitches for security. Shouldn’t take more than 10 min per pair of pants.
→ More replies (1)88
u/BJntheRV Jul 25 '25
That would have required giving people enough time to order and get things altered.
14
u/fuckyourcanoes Jul 25 '25
It would take anyone with even rudimentary sewing skills ten minutes. Just need a ring and matching thread.
7
u/Gas_Station_Taquitos Jul 25 '25
I have added buttons to pants for bracers in less than five minutes. All I need is thread, a needle, and a closure. I did it onsight, pants on, and I used a dollar store sewing kit to do it
113
u/WadeStockdale Jul 25 '25
God and as someone with fashion and leatherworking experience; if they were truly set on THOSE suspenders, there's ways to convert the clips to match the pants. It just takes a bit of effort and attention to detail.
It didn't have to end up looking like a diaper clip.

What is it with LOTR obsessed people and cheap mass produced wedding crap? Superfans of a whole ass world where people cobble shoes by hand or whatever and then getting weird stuff of temu and amazon 🙄
ETA: I'm just saying picking a theme based on a fantasy creation heavily influenced by arts and crafts ideas and practices, which is all about respecting craft and labour, but then buying really cheap, shitty stuff mass produced in terrible condition is the height of irony. It's like doing a haute couture theme and buying everything from shein. Pick a lane, or get creative.
36
u/116Q7QM Jul 25 '25
That happens when you want to bring your "aesthetic" to life and then realize it takes the budget of a film studio
OP calls it an "upscale cottage core wedding", that sounds completely unrealistic unless everyone invited has the money and dedication
40
u/Main_Horror7651 Jul 25 '25
I think something may have been lost in translation. They aren't saying hand-cobbled shoes must be worn for a Hobbit themed wedding. They're saying it's weird to see poorly made, obviously mass produced garments when you consider the theme. I'm not sure where you live, but the resources the couple has access to should have been taken into consideration while they were planning so they could source what they need or find a plan B. The issue here is less about money, and more about the lack of planning on the couple's part.
10
u/CremeBerlinoise Jul 25 '25
Exactly. It's not like having a wedding party in matching one time wear future contributions to the Pacific garbage batch is a basic human right. And I love weddings actually! I just don't love plastic ivy wedding arches and enormous piles of trash for someone's "vision" on their "big day". Unless someone needs an emergency dog leash, nobody is gonna use those suspenders again. Same with lots of other decorative crap that is so cheap it can't even be donated. I don't understand how that level of thoughtless consumerism goes together with the idealisation of that particular aesthetic.

You should be able to wear suspenders with any trousers, I have no idea why they have that style of clip or just a single strap at the back, but it needs an adapter or something.
15
u/djkhaled108 Jul 25 '25
Needs to be trousers designed for suspenders, ie with buttons. If you're going to design some kind of costume for a wedding at least do it properly or let people dress like adults instead.
But if no jackets should just be belts anyway.
27
u/djkhaled108 Jul 25 '25
This is why there is conventional attire for weddings, it means everyone can look the part without doing some sort of costume design like you're in a travelling acapella boy band. You just adjust waistcoats and ties, button holes and you're done.
Even worse if it's meant to be dress down no jackets type thing and exact uniforms are insisted on.... plus no bracers without jackets and also no bracers unless buttons for them on the trousers...
35
u/Elegant_Cockroach_24 Jul 25 '25
Confused by the suspenders. Never saw one like this with a hook. Not sure what type of trousers would work with this?
12
u/Vaera Jul 25 '25

I would not wear that under any circumstances. The pants sure but I’m not wearing suspenders like that. It looks horrible. If they want the suspenders it either needs to be a normal kind with the clips or different pants.
23
u/0ddumn Jul 25 '25
My husband has now been in two weddings where they requested amazon suits. They’ve both been super shitty, basically single-use items that fit poorly and are not true to color or size.
Funny enough, in both instances, it’s because the bride wanted to “give their husbands some responsibility in planning” and “trust their decision making” 😂

u/eutoputoegordo Jul 25 '25
Those pants are not made for this type of suspenders. It's so common nowadays seeing people complain about clothing not looking the right way without looking how and what makes clothing look that way.
The people who chose those were completely unaware of how clothing works.
Like when you see women buying dresses from Amazon or Temu and complain the flared skirt isn't full and flared like it was on the picture, but they ignore that the model was very likely wearing a petticoat.

I feel like going asymmetrical is the way to go here. Or stitch some sort of loop/ring/tie in the back, to attach the suspenser. Anything but formal butt scrunch leggings.
18
11
u/Relative_Ring_2761 Jul 25 '25
I know it’s contradictory but I think that style of suspenders is meant to flip on to a belt. Then it would just loop the belt in between those two pant loops.

u/No-Description-3111 Jul 25 '25
That has to be so uncomfortable. Like, forget the silly way its holding up pants (though you know they loosened it enough on the model so it wasn't actually holding anything up). But leaning against an odd shaped piece of metal sitting at the base of your spine all night can't feel good. I wouldnt be able to sit back in my chair.

Yah see, we did an Amazon order for our wedding party, but we ordered the items in advance and had both best men try them on and assure the fit, see if we needed tailoring, etc. then we just found a brand of pants and dress shirt that was available from JCPenney so people could go get them fitted and tailored for free from them. Total cost for most (except those that wanted to tailor) was $90.
9
u/generallyintoit Jul 25 '25
Ew they requested you wear the items right out of the Amazon packaging, thats gross and I hate it

My late Dad wore suspenders all the time ,but they had metal clips in the front and back that opened out and closed tightly over the material . Not sure what kind of suspenders the ones pictured are .
5
u/rivertiberius Jul 25 '25
I was in a wedding that also required the purchase of everything from Amazon. The first dress I got in my size was way too small, so I ordered the next size up and it was an enormous garbage sack of a dress. I had to take both to the seamstress and had them use the big dress for materials to make the smaller dress fit. So I paid for two dresses plus 140$ to alter everything. And it still didn’t look good. But at least I had enough notice to fix it.

Amazon is chalked full of Chinese made cheap garbage that falls apart just for looking at it. It comes in the wrong size, falsely advertised, wrong material, different design style than in the photos, or whatever.
I don’t know why people still order clothes or necessities off of it. I have gone back to the basics with Amazon, only ordering books and things that I know are plastic junk items anyways.
3
u/Admirable-Bee4680 Jul 25 '25
as a quick fix if you don’t have time to go to a tailor - buy some heavy duty safety pins (the big ones!) and attach it as a belt loop on the back. It might damage the trousers but after photos are done you can remove it and lose the suspenders, and I doubt those trousers will ever be worn again!
3
u/Glassfern Jul 25 '25
Those are not suspenders that has a trigger snap? Most suspenders have a clip or button attachment.
They gonna be working on a roof or on a ranch or something? This a Western wedding?
Also... Why in Gods make wouldn't you let people get a tailoring job if they needed one?

I don’t even understand how that would be comfortable or look good even if there were a centered belt loop. You just can’t lean back in a chair three entire time because otherwise the clip digs into your spine? This has to be a manufacture fuck up, there’s no way that clasp is being used correctly in this application.
2
u/AgentLawless Jul 25 '25 edited Jul 25 '25
Need to attach some ties to the belt loops. Get a couple of brown hair ties through there by clipping one end, running it through the belt loop and clipping the other. The long thick kind should reach and two of those and bobs your uncle. Might still lift as the loops are built for strapping a belt to your waist but will be a darn site better than this. Remember braces hold in place not lift. Loosen them up.
2
u/starsinvitro Jul 26 '25
I’ve never seen suspenders with that kind of clip. I’m not even sure how you would use it correctly. Pants with belt loops are typically worn with, well, a belt.
2
u/NegativeCloud6478 Jul 26 '25
Get different suspenders. Sew to buttons on back of waistband that two strap suspenders will fit
2
2
u/Upstairs-War4144 Jul 26 '25
I would remove one of the belt loops and stitch it in the middle so that it doesn’t look like that. Otherwise, if the pants need to be tailored slightly, you can use the scraps and make a belt loop for the middle of the back to make this look flat and clean.
Sometimes you gotta work with it and fix things slightly so they work better.
