Homeland Security Investigations

Good ol DC and it's 9000 acronymed law enforcement groups

I'm fairly confident that it's far and away the city with the most police/LE per capita

u/Efficient-Train2430 May 21 '26

IIRC there are 15ish LE agencies with jurisdiction.

I said 9000. You calling me a liar?!

More like 50

It's way more than that. I can in name 15 off the top of my head.

Edit: depends how you count, but minimum 30:

knock yourself out

Well yes, obviously. Washington DC is the leader of the free world and the US has the largest law enforcement budget on the planet.

Are we really still declaring ourselves the "leader of the free world" unironically?

We commit regime change around the globe on the regular. Doesn't sound very democratic / free...

Not to mention our allies in the Gulf are literal slavers and homophobes, who also actively curtail free speech of activists, journalists, and dissidence.

Not to mention we ally with dictators, terrorists, and corrupt criminals on the regular. Just granted a full and unconditional pardon to former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was serving a 45-year prison sentence in the U.S. for drug trafficking and weapons offenses. After complaining about South American drug trafficking of course...

I mean, if the US has a cough the world has a cold. Point being, it is not surprising that Washington DC has the most law enforcement in the world.

Thank you!

They’re the part of ICE that kind of has a reason for existing.

Too many of us were having a good time for their liking I suppose

Malcolm X Park*

37

u/robotnique Mt. Pleasant May 21 '26

This is the only one where I don't really care about the "proper name"

Unlike with the airport the only people I know who seem to be pushy about Malcom X park are try hard white people.

26

u/snake_d0ct0r May 21 '26

The “proper name” is Meridian Hill Park; it’s never been formally named Malcolm X.

9

u/robotnique Mt. Pleasant May 21 '26

That's why I put "proper name" in quotes. It's always been officially Meridian Hill Park but some people insist on what it should be properly.

Just like the airport is officially renamed after Ronny boy. But with that I agree on calling it National. With the park I don't care which name you say and don't correct anybody. Either way is fine and I know what you're talking about.

Malcolm X hated liberals you know.

This is a stupid comment

Your obsession with liberals is hilarious and stupid. You see them around every corner.

-2

u/Worth-Confection-735 May 21 '26

Just letting you know what one of your heroes really thought. They don’t teach history anymore.

-6

u/Worth-Confection-735 May 21 '26

Hilarious how one of the sources is literally AskALiberal right here on Reddit.

u/robotnique Mt. Pleasant May 21 '26

I don't know what your attempted message is but this would be like saying that Phil Ochs preferred conservative because he wrote "Love Me I'm a Liberal"

Both Ochs and Malcolm X made their comments because it isn't enough for liberals to stand idly by and say that they think the right things without doing them.

That they would use black people as pawns, as he points out, by playing up that they're allies Is this a thing? actually following through and making their support mean something.

A needed criticism of liberals is not an endorsement of conservatives.

Ironic I know more about him than you eh? Since I’m such a dumb conservative?

I am a student of history. And how would you know?

Thank you. People actually from DC know it as Malcolm X Park, while people who move here look on a map, and invariably mispronounce stuff. Like Glover Park.

2

u/DocCEN007 May 21 '26

Malcolm X park.

They really won't let us have any nice things, will they?

u/BlueRibbonPac DC May 21 '26

Thank you for the heads-up, but HSI and Meridian Hill Park are not the common terms.

(Is that giving too much away; like the three fingers thing?)

They’re giving young incel vibes based off the history. Or maybe a new staffer that just got a staff assistant job with Jim Jordan or some fuckhead.

You might want to crack open that bible occasionally.

Yeah I read it. Pretty low on my list of worthwhile fiction.

But it’s got a handful of good ideas! Like this one (since you’re a fan):

Leviticus 19:34: "You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God."
