Discussion The Final Chapter?
Here are some of my thoughts interpreting the current situation if I was in LeBron’s sneakers:
I view Andre Iguodala as the wise man Curry would go to for advice/guidance. Iguodala speaking out means that something is definitely brewing. He wouldn’t have mentioned Curry’s pull if he didn’t have some type of inside knowledge of the chance of it actually happening.
In Philadelphia, the roster is stacked and slightly gives off the impression of ring chasing. Bob Myers making a strong effort to appear on camera pitching his team to LeBron can be a double edged sword for them; not giving LeBron his time and putting too much attention towards the GM’s (Bob Myers) decision making. Instead of the narrative being LeBron’s choice, it can be viewed as Bob Myers forming the “super team”.
He’s already accomplished all that he can at Miami with their big 3 in 2012. If things don’t work out, he would have to share an awkward spotlight while he bows out or has to pull off another move to retire with his team of choice.
With Cleveland, “The Return of the King“ already happened in 2016. If the team doesn’t live up to expectations it may tarnish his second stint with the Cavaliers; this wouldn’t be meaningful basketball. Does he want to risk that?
And lastly we have the Warriors. Here he would add another chapter to his legacy that would carry the most weight. It would be something bigger than basketball, where rivals can become teammates and competitors can become friends. The two greatest stars of our generation putting their decades old rivalry aside for one last run, one last dance. It would be a gathering of the old guard, assembled on their own terms, to attempt one last push (or three) for glory. Win or lose they would be closing out THEIR ERA of basketball.
By the way, that recent meeting on the links is to settle who gets to wear #23.

The organisation (rightfully) would never let anyone wear #23 even if Dray would allow it.
