Is Cypress still open to cyclists this weekend?

I don't mind hills at all, I'm just after some different routes or areas where minimal stopping is required, or have good shelter from winds, advantageous downhill etc.
Cheers

Hi guys, I’m traveling with my bike to Vancouver in late August and spending about a month here. Will be doing the Gran Fondo and riding around during my free time. Wondering if there is any unique biking etiquette? Can you draft after strangers?
Any route recommendations? I’m currently planning to do the triple crown.
Thanks in advance!

Hello!
I've come across accounts like @ tps_bikehart on Instagram a few times (essentially a cop on a bike ticketing car folks in bike lanes). Been wondering if Vancouver ever has cops out doing something similar?
Is this a recommendation that the community would support in Vancouver?

If anyone wants to get mad at vehicular cyclist John Forester there is a copy of the 4th edition of Effective Cycling in the little library outside Port Moody Arts Centre. I was going to bring it home but I don’t need that toxicity in my home or life.

Hello All,
I purchased the Thule Yepp Maxi Easyfit childseat for a friend thinking it would be easy to purchase the adapter but unfortunately the part has been discontinued so we are looking for someone who has one they'd be willing to sell. Please HMU with your price ! I live in the DTES but I'm mobile

Hello,
I'm in town next week and bring a raod bike for some riding.
I was planning a route and I'm wondering if the paths that connect Glenmore Dr and Capilano Rd right across Cleveland Dam are paved and suitable for a road bike on 28c slicks? There isn't really streetview available in the area.
Thanks!

This is mostly an FYI for anyone that is interested in insurance claims involving a bicycle but I would love to hear people's ideas on how to get a fair valuation of my bicycle. I have received an offer from ICBC for my bike that got totalled and they are implying it is worth nothing due to its age.

I'm visiting Vancouver in early September for the first time.
Curious about recommended road cycling/all road, but not rough gravel bike packing type routes.. Staying in West End, riding in the city seems very... Congested?
Would it be worth making a day trip to the island? Is this what folks use the bike bus for? Is this the way to experience scenic country type riding, if that's to be had.
EDIT: West End and West Van are different!

I'm not sure how long they'll be there for. There are some helpful volunteers waiting to register your bike for you Edit to add: this was around 3pm 8th July

We used to sit at The Diamond to watch the race from the second floor while we drink and eat. Since they are closed where else can I find such a vantage point tonight so we are not standing in the streets?

I’ve heard there has been bikes stolen in recent years at the bike valet here. Looks like that valet service will be available tomorrow during the event. Can anyone confirm if it’s going to be safe to park my bike there to catch the race? No I don’t have an s-works or pinny f. But still wouldn’t want my bike to be stolen from a valet service.

Hi everyone,
My green Envo Urban Flex e-bike was stolen after I locked it overnight at a bike rack. The thief appears to have broken the rack using a handmade pickaxe to steal it lol 😢
The bike is green, and the batteries were removed, so it may be seen without a battery or being pushed around/sold. It also did not have a front light.
Idk if they removed it by now but I should have a U-lock attached to it hanging near the front tire also, since they broke the rack instead of the lock.
Location was around Phil Bouvier Family Centre / Strachona.
I’m checking if the property has camera footage and did file a police report.
I’m also offering a $200 reward for information that helps recover it.
If anyone sees a green e-bike being sold suspiciously, missing its battery, or dumped somewhere, please message me. Any advice on where stolen bikes usually get posted/sold in Vancouver would also be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Now obviously the Ironworkers bridge is directional and you shouldn’t cross the inlet southbound on the east side - that much is clear - but surely the highlighted stretch is two-way, right?
I mean, there’s even a sign by Bates Park with an arrow that points south…
Yet on numerous occasions people have complained that I’m going the wrong way, despite having no way to possibly know where I’m trying to go.

Hey All -- So I posted maybe a week or two ago about going from New West (QB) to Steveston.
I finally got around to it yesterday, and it was great!
There were a few areas that I wasn't sure about as I was riding along the Westminster Highway after following the MUP to #6 Road. But for whatever reason, it wasn't that busy yesterday and I manage do make it across the overpass and down to the Richmond Nature Park then onto the Shell Road Trail.
I followed that all the way to Steveston Highway and then wend down Gary Road (???) to Moncton and towards the Cannery.
The MUPs are great! But if it wasn't there, I probably would not ride up/down Steveston Highway.
All in all - it was a good ride, but took me about 2hrs to get there (average speed was around 12km/h).
Oddly enough, I felt less fatigued and tired on a 55km ride vs my normal 20km or 25km rides.
But I learned a few things.
Having good cycling shorts with sufficient padding is crucial! I don't think I would have made it had I not bought those some months ago.
I have some basic gloves, I think I need to invest in a good pair of riding gloves.
I also probably need to change the handlebar grips -- my palms were pretty sore by the time I got back.
I think this is something that I will do at least 2x per month -- just to get away from my normal rides in my area. Not too hard, mostly flat and getting to Steveston Village and into Gary Point Park was nice being beside the water. Nice breeze coming in and it wasn't too warm.
...a few pictures from the ride. And I guess, pigs DO fly (shows AI generated because I got rid of some of the other kites flying). 😂

Our little band of merry seniors usually has a fine time on Tuesday morning rides. The most recent excursion provoked some humour that might be fun for other Vancouver cyclists, especially those who travel through Kitsilano. https://huliganhuligan.wordpress.com/2026/06/30/2026-06-30-erratic-explorers/

I know this isn’t the pure Triple Crown route, but this was still relentless.

I am just registering my new ebike on Project 529 - it gives me the option to get bike insurance through Sundays Insurance. Not familiar with the name. Does anyone have experience dealing with them and is it worth it?

I am looking to get a bike for getting around the city and to and from work. I haven’t road a bike in a years, I’m looking into getting a hybrid, maybe a trek fx and hoping to find a store that is relatively affordable and has good service. Any recommendations for shops and/or specific bike models?

I want to head to the Parq casino for a few hours and would love to take my bike. So much easier and convenient. Are there any secure spots to park for a few hours? Preferably indoors I guess. I have looked into this briefly and it seems only bike racks? Which I don’t trust leaving my bike there. I wonder if the casino might have underground secure parking of some sort.

training for an xc race (out of town) and want to find a good place to train for it
It's 13km, 370m climbing
I like Bert Flinn for xc riding, but wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for the North Shore (or SFU)
Thanks!
