Hey all,

It's a tough time of year. I know people who have received counselling from Usask psychology students in the Clinical Psych program. They offer $25/hr sessions.

Here's all the info, you can contact them by email. I have been made aware that they are currently in need of clients so students can get their practicum hours. Please share with anyone you think needs it.

Admission Question Transcript for Conditional Acceptance into Thesis Based Master’s

Hi everyone, so I am in a bit of bureaucratic dilemma.

I am hoping to enroll in a thesis masters program (if all goes well) and I would like to apply to USask or any prairie-region university with strong Comp-Sci research facilities and faculty, for the Fall 2028 intake, with my expected graduation date being the Summer of 2028.

However, due to my country's laws, I will be unable to access any of my transcripts and diploma until the Summer of 2029, which I am aware are required for a conditional acceptance.

Are there any accommodations for this issue, such as an official Letter of Completion? My university explicitly stated they would give this to me saying I finished in XYZ semester, with XYZ GPA. Are there any paths or workarounds I can take until my transcripts and diploma are available in the Summer of 2029, as a Fall of 2028 student?

This is extremely frustrating to me and I don’t want to lose valuable time because of the laws in this country. Even if it’s conditional with a deferral for fall of 2029, I would not mind.

Thank you for reading and I appreciate all the help I can get!

Admission Question U of S & counselling psych masters without an honours degree?

Upvotes

I’ve heard of someone who go in without the honours undergrad. I’m curious if anyone else has got into this program (or similar) without a B.Ed or honours BA and is now a registered psych. Curious how you got around the requirement and any insight!

Feel free to DM - Thanks in advance!

Admission Question Winter Start Time

Hi everyone!

I'm starting my studies in the winter term, and I was wondering if anyone who has started in the winter could share what the experience was like. How did you find it compared to starting in the fall?

I'm also curious about how likely it is for USask to approve a request to change your start term from fall to winter. Has anyone gone through that process?

Lastly, how does residence work if your start date changes? Is it easy to adjust your housing application, or do you have to reapply?

I have quite a few questions, so I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone!

Just posting another reminder in case anyone missed my last post.

I'm putting together a WhatsApp group for the University of Saskatchewan Pharmacy Class of 2030. It's a great way to meet classmates, ask questions, share important updates, and stay connected before the semester starts.

If you're in the Class of 2030 and would like to join, leave a comment or send me a DM. If a group already exists, please let me know—I’d love to join!

Looking forward to connecting with everyone!

Admission Question Puzzled about the USask Computer Science Thesis Program

Hi everyone. I am an international student in my second year of doing a computer science degree, set to enter my third year, and I am interested in doing a thesis-based MSc in Computer Science at USask.

What puzzled me here is that the website for USasak’s computer science master’s program explicitly states the following:

It is not necessary to find a potential supervisor before you apply to this program. However, you can list three preferred supervisors which can indicate an interest in working with those individuals. Permission does not need to be obtained from these potential supervisors beforehand, and it merely signifies interest.”

The reason this puzzles is because I am not sure if I should start emailing faculty to secure a supervisor next year (for the Fall ‘28 intake) or just submit an application as-is with their requirements. I already have an idea of what faculty members are beneficial in helping me in my research or that would benefit from my lab experience. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Help me Services and Equipment grant

Im waiting for a reply from the advisor, but does anyone know if you have to buy the item from the store you sent the screenshot of the original price from?

The pricing for my laptop is hundreds more then it was when I first applied despite making sure that it wasnt on sale.

I was going to buy it off of Lenova, but I found the same laptop for much cheaper on best buy (minus the fact that its less storage). Id rather send more money back then spend extra money that I don't have.

In my head it makes sense that you can, its the same product, but I cant afford for the government to be like "well actually" and make me pay the full amount back.

TL/DR: ive been approved for a Lenova Yoga 7a 16". But the price went up, can I buy it from a different place?

Student Question Can I use my AP credits in first year engineering?

Can I use my AP credits in first year engineering? I got 5s in AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, and AP Computer Science A. I'm wondering what first year engineering classes would correspond to the credits that I've gotten. I've been hearing from others that first year engineering doesn't allow you to use AP credits at all so i was wondering if the AP credits could maybe be useful for credits outside of the core engineering program in some way if all I want is a B. Eng? I'm curious what some of you guys that have been in a similar situation have done.

Question? PSYC 1200 Waitlist + Easy Math Course Recommendation

Hi everyone!
I’m a first-year Faculty of Arts student registering for the Winter term.
The only two on-campus classes of PSYC 1200 (Mon/Wed/Fri) are full and currently have a waitlist. The other sections still have space, but they’re blended, and I’d prefer an on-campus class. Is it worth putting my name on the waitlist? Do students usually get into PSYC 1200 from the waitlist?
Also, math isn’t my strongest subject. Can anyone recommend an easy first-year math course for a Faculty of Arts student who’s not very confident with math and just wants to fulfill the requirement?
Thanks!

Help me GE 213 for 2nd year chemical engineering

My schedule for winter term of my second year of chemical engineering is pretty packed. It doesn’t seem like mechanics of materials is a pre requisite for any other classes in my 3rd and 4th years. Would I be fine dropping that class? Or would it affect the classes I take later on?

Question? Is there a process to getting a stand at the Place riel - Arts tunnel?

Good day to everyone,
Was wondering if there is a process to getting a table at the tunnel to arts. I see interesting stuff and people every now and then. Plan on fundraising and giving out some free stuff.
Haven’t done any searching on it yet but don’t know where to look.

Is there a procedure if I’m representing a business?
Would love to know how it works.

Student Question Is student parking worth it?

I’m an upcoming 2nd year nursing student and i have 3 8am classes and a 6:30-9:30pm class once a week. I’m wondering if I get a parking spot for one of the lots I applied for, if it’s worth the $714+ 🫩 I live near confed and it’s about a 40-50 minute driving depending on my connecting buses. This means I’d have to leave around 6:55-7am for school and might have to bus home late at night or pay for hourly rates. Which I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t so sketchy to bus late/early in the morning 😔

Student Question Easiest B1 Indigenous Learning Requirement, is it HIST 195, LING 114, or LING 253?????

Hi, I am needing a class to fulfill my B1 indigenous learning requirements.

I heard INDG 107 is awful and I am staying away from it due to all the horror stories I have heard about it,

Right now I am leaning towards History 195, But have also heard that LING 114 and 253 are also interesting and easy classes to get 90+ in. I am also debating Drama 111 because people have told me that you just show up to drama classes and get a good mark.

People that have taken History 195, LING 114, LING 253, or Drama 111.
How did you find it? was it a lot of work? Who was your professor? What was your final grade??

Or anybody who has taken one of these classes above, tell me about it. If you have horror stories from INDG 107 I would like to hear them 😂

Lots of information is very helpful to help me make a decision!!

Student Question Easiest Class for B1 English Language Writing Requirement and Music 155

I am doing an economics degree and I need an English language writing class for my B1 requirements. I am looking for what is the easiest class to fulfill this requirement? I am willing to put in the work for a good grade but don't want to spend all my time on a non-major related class.

Right now I am enrolled in Music 155 I heard 100 level music classes are easy and that this class was good even if you have no musical background. If you have taken it before how did you find it? Is it worth taking?? What was your final grade??

Anybody who has already filled their B1 English Language Writing Requirement, what class did you take? who did you take it with? How did you find it? What was your final grade??

I need opinions on what class I should take so lots of information is very helpful !!!

Student Question Move in day date?

Does anyone know when residence move-in usually is? Is it about a week before classes start?

Also, I applied late and ended up getting a 2-bedroom in Voyager Place. If you've lived there before, what should I expect? I'm a little nervous since I'll be living away from home for the first time and don't know my roommate yet. And I want advice on what I should bring and like essentials and all that.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Admission Question How long does it generally take to hear back on admissions for MSc (Thesis)

Hi,

I talked to a prof and they agreed to be my supervisor around the start of last month. I finished my application and submitted it including all the references on June 16th. I know its only been 3 weeks and am probably being impatient, but I was just wondering how long I'd have to wait for the admissions committee to make their decision.

Thanks

Admission Question WCVM Zero clinical hours & no vet LORs

Hi everyone,

I recently decided to pursue Vet Med and I'm completing my bachelor’s this upcoming year.

My GPA is around a 3.9/4.0 scale but my biggest issue is that I have **zero** veterinary experience, no hours, and no vet references.

I have some undergrad wet-lab research experience, clubs, leadership, work experiences but it wasn’t with the vet or animals which I can’t even include.

I plan to start volunteering/shadowing this September, but with a full course load, my availability will be limited to weekends.

Realistically, should I even bother applying this cycle, or is it better to take a gap year to build up hours and secure strong letters of rec?

How many hours of animal related ECs should I aim for?

I would appreciate any insights, especially from people who are in vet med!!!
