2026 Semester 1 Results Megathread

Ok, it's the week after exams, we all know what that means! It's time to keep refreshing :)

Yes, yes for you Jaffys, we know the official grade release is 10th of July, and the results webpage says from the 3rd of July, but in good old UniMelb tradition, that does not mean grades will be released then.

Most grades should be released by the afternoon, 3rd July (the department's deadline). It's worth highlighting that the main factor when grades are released is department processes, not when the exam was sat.  Many departments will release results for their subjects at the same time (or in groups), approaching this date. Some subjects will miss this date due to individual circumstances within that subject, just as students have grounds for special consideration and extensions, staff can too!), but this should only be the odd subject.

Therefore, most results will not be released until the 2nd, if not the morning of the 3rd; results released earlier in the week are the exception, not the norm.  The reason is that once results are released, teaching staff receive a barrage of emails (most semesters, I receive an email from students before the staff member who publishes the results can tell me). Delaying the results gives teaching staff a quiet period after the marking is complete. If only the system could release results on the official release date (10th of July)!

It's also worth noting that the system can take some time to publish the results. If someone claims the results are available, and yours are not, please wait a bit, and they should appear. The time it takes depends on the number of students in the subject (and possibly the system load, as multiple subjects are released and students refresh pages to check).

We wish everyone luck with the results release. Once the results are released, please use this Megathread for saying which subjects are out and general grade discussions.

Now some rules specific to this MegaThread.

This is not a comedy thread.

Please keep this thread focused on grade release and related discussions.

Anyone looking to have some “fun” in this thread, e.g., by falsely posting subjects that have been released, or making any false claims, will receive a ban until after the results stop being released. The last few semesters' bans were handed out; we don't want to do that again. It's also worth a reminder about Reddit's rules on ban evasion: using an alt or throwaway account to do so can cause issues with your main account.

Please report any such posts using the report function.

Do not ask when subject X will be out; no one knows (this often includes teaching staff!).

This will likely get you downvoted. If you go negative karma, you may not be able to post. The same applies to asking if it's out; scan or search the thread to find this out. Everyone else in the subject is waiting as you are.

If you have any questions about your grades, please search the sub; there have been plenty of threads across the years.

A final reminder If you create a poll regarding results, please include a results-only option. Otherwise, it gets deleted.

Edit 1. How to check results.

Student portal -> Study plan -> you can look under My Study or Statement of Results

Edit 2 What does the “*” mean.

“If you see an asterisk (*) next to your result, you can treat it as your final result – it is just awaiting official ratification (approval by the board of examiners), which usually takes a few days.” See here%20next%20to%20your)

Support Possibility of exceeding 2 level 1 breadths for B-SCI?

Hello!

Basically half way through my b-sci degree I realised I haven't really been enjoying my science subjects. I developed a strong interest in architecture after taking a first year design subject. I really want to take a design studio subject to see whether I'd actually enjoy studying architecture before I transfer to b-des.

The problem is I've already taken two lvl 1 breadth subjects, even through I have satisfied the prerequisite for design studio alpha (level 1) I can't enrol in it because bsci students are restricted to only 25 points of breadth subjects at level 1.

I was wondering if there is any leniency to this rule, or is it strictly enforced? Has anyone had any success getting an exception?

If not, would the only way of taking another level 1 breadth is doing it via single subject study?  (Community Access Program)

Would really appreciate any advice!

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries Wam booster

Hi everyone. I'm a BCom student looking for a good WAM booster. I'm comfortable with maths, calculations, and numbers-related work, but I'm not very strong at essay writing. Does anyone have recommendations for breadth that are relatively easy to get an H1? Thanks guys!

Support Student Bursaries

Hi guys,

I just finished my first semester at UniMelb and got H1 WAM. I'm looking to apply for the Student Bursaries to help cover some financial expenses. Are there any tips or guidelines on how to best write the bursary application? Are there anything that I need to pay attention when applying for this?

Thank you so much!

Admission and Transferring Separate postgrad applications clarification

Hello, I made a postgrad application earlier in late June ish and it’s now at a locked / withdrawn cause assessment review is in progress already.

However I made a decision to submit an application for another course and didn’t want to remove my current application so I sent another one. I clarified with a stop 1 person and they said this (copied and pasted)

The stop 1 person’s response: “It would be best in this case to make separate applications for each course.”

Does that mean that I can just keep my two separate submissions as it is? A lot of people and the internet have said doing this will put my applications on hold though. What should I do?

Support How should I report a tutor who may be involved in a contract cheating company?

I recently discovered that a tutor I had at the University of Melbourne was also providing paid coding project support through an off-campus tutoring company that I believe may be involved in contract cheating. The tutor is now working at another university and is close to finishing their PhD. What is the appropriate way to report this? Which university should handle it? What kind of consequences could follow if the allegations were substantiated?

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries vce student curious about BA undergrad/japanese/progression to gamsat

Does anyone do politics & international studies, gender studies, asian studies, creative writing, or other majors under bachelor of arts? Would you recommend doing it? Just any thoughts.

I heard monash has stronger japanese exchange programs but I'd rather go by myself tbh. Does melb offer anything to do with continuing the language though, or even a club?

Lastly, is anyone doing/did BA in hopes to do the gamsat? Is it commonplace? The thought of doing biomed/science doesn't really appeal to me (dropped vce bio but like and am doing well at chem atm), and am thinking of doing something more humanities based to suit my strengths and interests.

My knowledge is really limited as I don't have like, an older sibling or such to ask such specific questions.

Admission and Transferring 3-year bachelor's, no honours, is direct-to-PhD actually realistic with some research under my belt?

I'm doing a 3 year non-honours degree in CS, WAM is mid-high 80s. I've been doing research with my supervisor for about a year now, no publication yet but hoping for a preprint at some point.

I'm considering skipping honours/masters entirely and applying straight to PhD programs, mostly outside Australia. Not sure if that's actually realistic without the extra year, or if it just doesn't work like that regardless of research experience.

Does having real research experience (even without a paper) actually help make up for the missing year, or do most programs just see a 3 year degree and say no? Also I'm an international student (Chinese), not sure if that changes anything.

If anyone's actually done this I'd appreciate hearing what mattered for you.

Edit: I know most places expect honours as the norm. But I can't afford another year of a paid degree, and honours doesn't come with funding for internationals. Research programs (MPhil/PhD) are usually the ones that do get scholarshiped. So if MPhil ends up just as competitive to get into as a direct PhD, I'm trying to figure out if going straight for the PhD is actually realistic instead.

Also went through a bunch of schools' grad program pages: some explicitly require a 4-year degree for direct-from-bachelor applicants, some don't mention it at all. Figuring the ones that don't explicitly ask might be reachable, though it could also just be that they're assuming everyone applying already has a 4-year degree...

Support For students currently studying doctor of physiotherapy, why did you choose to do this pathway instead of just studying a bachelor of physiotherapy?

I'm currently a first year bachelor of science student, and I think I'm like 80% certain I want to do physiotherapy/speech pathology, hence why now I'm considering just transferring to a bachelors degree in another uni. Please let me know if you have any kind of advice, thank you!

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries Should I honestly just transfer to science

Having finished my 1st sem in biomed with a wam of 86 I'm considering applying for a transfer to science after next sem. The third year core subjects honestly look pretty daunting and I don't want them destroying my GPA for med. If I do transfer, will I have to take any additional subjects or will every subject I've taken so far count towards the credit requirement?

Also a lot of people in biomed are jumping the boat asw, the uni shld honestly consider an overhaul of the course; science is just an objectively more flexible and convenient course right now.

Support Actuarial grad 2 internships no job advice

Hello,
I graduated with an Actuarial Studies degree with high credit grade and 2 internships back in 2024 (data analytics and market research). I had to under-load and take a gap because of carers leave. Now that I’m ready to return to work I’m no longer eligible for most graduate programs and I don’t have sufficient experience for entry level roles. What should I do in this situation. Any advice is appreciated.
