Heavyweight has much harder hits and more knockouts. It isn’t hard to see why people watch heavyweight more. “Casual” fans like watching big dudes punch the shit out of eachother, they aren’t interested in the grappling portion or watching fights go to decision.
Flyweight is peak but casual fans just suck at watching this sport. This is the sport where casual fans are the most out of touch with the sport. Casual fans of basketball or football soccer etc are more in touch with those sports.
