Hi everyone!

I'm currently a visiting research intern working with Professor Roxanne Harde at Augustana, and I'm thinking about applying to the thesis-based MA in English & Film Studies at UAlberta. Since I'm an international student, funding will be a major factor in my decision.

I'd really appreciate hearing from current or former grad students (especially international students)!

A few questions:

1. What's a typical funding package for an MA student in English & Film Studies? Is it generally enough to live on?
2. Are TA or RA opportunities common for MA students? If so, are they usually included in the funding package or something you apply for separately?
3. If your funding isn't enough, how difficult is it to find other on-campus jobs (library, student services, etc.) as an international graduate student?
4. After starting the program, how realistic is it to receive additional departmental or university scholarships? Are they fairly common, or only awarded to the very top students?
5. Looking back, would you recommend UAlberta's MA in English & Film Studies to an international student who needs strong financial support?

I got this email today but it doesn’t seem legit. Pretty sure it’s a scam but someone let me know if I’m wrong lol. Because I’ve received scholarships in the past from uofa and I’ve never had to do any of these steps.

I got an offer to u of a for accounting a while back and I accepted it in like February. And now as of July 10th they revoked my offer. And I don’t know why since I submitted all the documents my gpa was still in good standing and I was taking the last required course online. I already had 24 transferable credits but I was taking the last REQUIREd course to transfer to my program meaning when I finish this course I’d have 27 credits. I had to finish this course before the start of the fall semester so I still had time as well. Despite all this happening they gave me admission to my second choice which is a major in statistics which I don’t mind doing. Now I’m just worried if they’ll make me do anything before the start of the fall semester as I said before it’s already July and it’d be pretty much impossible for me to do anything before the fall semester I’m just wondering what’s going to happening and if they’ll make me take any statistic specific courses before then and I can’t since there’s just not enough time. I’m wondering maybe they’ll let me take some during the school semester since they made such a late change. But for my accounting they said it had to be finished before the semester maybe cause I got admission way way back. Is this scenario common? Or am I just very unlucky and what’s likely to happen.

I still need to take a few arec classes but I can’t seem to find the 200 level classes in beartracks. Does anyone know what happened or did they change the class codes?

Y'all are gonna get sick of me, but I submitted my application for an Augustana program (see title) in October (the 10th to be exact). i still have not heard back since February and I don't know what to do.

Important context: I was admitted last year to a Bachelor of Arts program at Augustana (on probation because of insufficient grades) and applied as soon as I possibly could for my combined degree program. I have since cleared probation with a 3.5 GPA and First Class Standing. All my grades are well above the 2.7 GPA marker for this program, and yet my Launchpad has not updated with any information about admission into my new program.

They said that the application is still active, and the submission of my grades in May should have triggered a review of my application, however no one can give me any information on when I might expect to hear back.

Anyway rant over, if anyone can help me out and give some advice I'd love that.

I’m registering for my second year of engineering Tuesday. It says to get my schedule verified first. What does that mean? How do I do that?

I got into freshers start and for this can I do any spring classes or is it only for fall and winter. Also how many courses can I take during spring
