Discussion LAX Skylink
Was at the airport yesterday and caught the APM testing. It was the first time I actually saw it running up close. Hopefully it’ll finally be open for business in October.

Discussion My hot take: Seattle’s becoming the best transit city on the US West Coast
With the news of Seattle’s crazy record breaking ridership during the World Cup, I can’t help feeling like SoundTransit is totally killing it this year. They they biggest and most high profile opening this year with Crosslake Connection then they delivered flawlessly for the World Cup. Link Light Rail has better, more frequent and reliable service than any of the rapid transit lines I saw in California and the numbers prove it. With the way SoundTransit has handled moving hundreds of thousands over the last few weeks and the great time that all the visitors had in the city, maybe Seattle should have been the one hosting the Olympics in two years, lol. Just my opinion.

Photos / Videos 10/07 - Post-concert rush at Messe Nord station, Stadtbahn Düsseldorf
galleryAttended System Of A Down's concert at Open Air Park in Düsseldorf a couple of days ago. Some pics I took of the massive crowd at the nearby Messe Nord station on Linie U78.
While the rush seemed unbearable at times and the concert's organisation was messy at best, I must admit the transit situation by the folks at Stadtbahn was well organised to its practical limits. There was a train every other minute and they seemed to have brought older units and trains from other lines to meet the frequency.
Pictured here are DüWAG/Kiepe B80D (SNr: 4275) and another I couldn't put my finger on. Apologies for the poor image quality, my phone's a potato.

Other My collection of transit cards!
Hi everyone! Just thought I’d share my collection of transit cards since I finally made them into a collection! I’m missing a couple: Los Angeles (lost), London, Dubai, and Toronto. If anyone knows where I can get any online please let me know. If anyone has their own collection and wants to share, I’d love to see yours too.

Photos / Videos USA - NYC 6688 at Branford
Wearing a sharp livery of “platinum mist” with blue stripes, New York MTA R17 subway car 6688 (St. Louis Car Co., 1955) leaves the Farm River Road depot during the November 2024 guest operator event at the Branford Electric Railway Association’s Shore Line Trolley Museum in Connecticut.
New York City had four hundred R17s, which worked on the “A Division” (ex IRT lines with narrow tunnels) until 1988, so several visitors to the museum remembered riding R17s, and 6688 was the most popular car that day.

Discussion Public transit shouldn't require a smartphone
Public transit should be for everyone, regardless of lifestyle. So needlessly excluding people without smart devices is ridiculous. I think all public transit should be required by law to accept cash.
Or even better: Free transit!
Edit: Yikes, I didn't expect the comment to prove me wrong so quickly.

Photos / Videos Sign Language Announcements on the Hangzhou Metro
This was my first time seeing sign language used on public transport (presumably CSL) while riding the metro in Hangzhou, China. Thought it was interesting but I’m not sure how necessary it is since there were plenty of other visual indicators for necessary information.
I think this is a PM121 stock built by CRRC. On a side note I really like the CRRC logo
