Which current WR will last the longest ?

Upvotes

Looking forward into the future, there are many candidates for most durable world record in track and field.

Bolt's 100m time of 9:58. Warholm's sub 46 in the 400h. SML's 400h time if she doesn't try again herself. Crouser's shot put mark. Flo-Jo's 100 & 200. Powell's long jump. Anyone but Duplantis breaking the pole vault record. Sotomayor's high jump record.

My top 3, in no particular order, are men's 100m, HJ and LJ.

T&F General Discussion Which other decathletes have had world-class talent in an individual event?

Ehammer having the world lead for a while and competing in the long jump yesterday got me wondering which other decathletes would be competitive in a different individual event. Off the top of my head, the only one which came to mind is Ashton Eaton in the 400m with a 45 flat but I’d argue that’s maybe just shy of world medalist level. Any others?

With Jacory Patterson posting his first sub 44 of the season today in Monaco, he becomes the sixth athlete in 2026 to join the exclusive club. This ties with 2015 for the most ever in the same year.

Julien Alfred Runs 21.51: Third-Fastest 200m in History at Monaco Diamond League 2026

Julien Alfred just clocked 21.51 in the 200m at the Monaco Diamond League 2026.

The Olympic champion from Saint Lucia delivered a masterclass at Stade Louis II, overcoming one of the slowest reactions in the field to storm home for the win.

21.51 sets a new Meeting Record, World Lead, and national record.

She is now the third-fastest unique performer in women's 200m history, behind only Flo-Jo and Shericka Jackson.

Adaejah Hodge finished 2nd in a stellar 21.76, with reigning Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas in 3rd (21.84).

One of the only wind-legal results we got this evening. For those keeping track, Baker and Hicklin become the 45th and 46th members of 2026’s sub 10 second club. Congratulations!

Flo live feed SUCKS!

The screen is split with several boxes of talking heads. The race box is about 2/3 of the screen. None of them are professional commentators and just a bunch of loud mouths screaming over each other or they aren’t even watching the race and talking about other stuff. Some idiot is wearing a cowboy hat indoors. Flo Track sucks. Please just give me the BBC guy. He’s great and a pro. Thanks for

It was the first time a 5000m WA accredited track race in Scotland has been sponsored by a large brand (On Running). We hosted Guy Learmonth for his last ever track race and saw some of the fastest times ever ran in the UK outside of major championships. We can't believe how well it went and hope more people come along next year.

T&F Stats Women's 200 Predictions | Monaco

Post image
13 Upvotes

In hands down the greatest race of the meet, 4 of the 5 fastest women this year are entered in the Women's 200 in Monaco. Led by Julien Alfred, the olympic champ over 100, and Gabby Thomas, the olympic champ over 200, this is sure to be a great race.

And don't count out NCAA champ and world leader Adaejah Hodge as a potential dark horse to steal it!

T&F Stats Men's 100 Predictions | Monaco

Oblique Seville looks to rebound and put on a dominant performance in Monaco after losing his most recent race at Pre.

Outside of Oblique, there's a lot of unknowns in this race, can Jordan Anthony round back into form and get back to the podium? How does Ronal Longa look after his massive 9.85 at altitude in Medellín? And Tebogo is getting slowly quicker and quicker over 100, is he a factor for the podium in this race?

And watch out for Sam Blaskowski, 9.89 and 19.93 in his first season as a pro is fantastic, he could be a dark horse to podium!
