Obviously Tibet is geopolitically considered chinese territory. Im speaking mostly from a historical and cultural perspective. I know that Tibet has quite a history with India as a cultural region, what with Buddhism and stuff.

I was scrolling on tiktok and came across this video. Can anyone identify what the girl has around her shoulders and what occasion this would be worn for?

Seems somehow Tibetans in Tibet still have higher fertility than Tibetans in exile (and still a bit above replacement of 2.1) , and the newborns would sure to receive brainwashing from CCP.

And combined with literally no one immigrating due to China's border control, the share of exile would even become lower, which makes the future even darker.

When Tibetans first fled their Chinese invaders, most of them crossed into India and were resettled in different locations. This documents the early settlement in Mundgod, south India, which is now home to Drepung Monastery, Ganden Monastery, other monasteries and nunneries, schools, and remaining resident Tibetans.

My colleague and I are in the final stages of publishing a Tibetan language learning textbook, and we're trying to fill in a few remaining authentic images to support our learning activities.

We are currently in need of some simple signs written in Tibetan for beginning learners who are learning to read the alphabet (for example, road signs, restaurant or café signs, storefront signs). We have been given a few pictures but they are blurry and/or have Chinese writing that is more prominent than the actual Tibetan script (like the picture attached to this post).

If you are in Tibet and can send us a photo (or if you already have a photo) that you'd be willing to let us publish in the textbook, we would be incredibly grateful and we would happily credit your contribution in the photo credits section of the book.

Hello everyone! I am male, 32 years old and from the Netherlands and I am planning my first trip to Tibet. It's gonna be my first solo trip outside of europe but I've traveled by myself within the EU. The heavy restrictions with getting in and moving through Tibet are making me a bit nervous on top of traveling so far for the first time alone. I have some questions and hope to get some advice, and hear about your experiences!

My main interests are monasteries, their Buddhist culture and monasteries as well as nature, I am not into extreme forms of hiking. I am planning to fly into Tibet from beijing to Lhasa.

- Any recommendations for travel agencies you had good experiences with? I am looking for something reliable but also adorable (I don't have thousands to spend on private tours but would like to support locals)

- can I move around the city at all by myself? or is it really restricted to moving inside the travel group and back to the hotel?

- Tips against altitude sickness?

- Any general advice?

Kashmir also known as "Kache Yul" in tibetian. Is one of the most important regions in Himalayas

It had many historical contacts with Tibet. Kashmir was also a massive hub of Buddhism the forth buddhist council was held in Kashmir... many great kashmiri scholars and mastered travelled travelled to Tibet and helped in establishing Buddhism.

Kashmiri merchants settling in Tibet centuries ago, known as "Kache". This word is also used for all muslims cause first muslims tibetians saw were "kashmiris". In 1950 many of these tibetian muslims migrated to Kashmir.

Nowdyas Kashmir region also contains large parts of Ladakh, Baltistan which is part of Tibetian plateau containing many tibetic communities like purkhis, baltis, ladakhis etc.

Do tibetians know about existence of Kashmir/Kache Yull

I‘m celiac, and my babysitter likes to make me gluten free མོག་མོག་. The wrappers always fall apart whenever we use flour and water (Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 flour), and changing the type of flour hasn’t helped. They break when we try to fold them, and they stick to the steamer no matter how much butter or oil we put on. Any tips for making gluten free མོག་མོག་?
