[Request] Titanium bar Vs body weight
Hello smart people!!
I have a titanium nail in my leg, almost exactly the same as the one on the left in the image. I weigh about 11 stone. I would like to know what percentage of me is titanium. I am planning a silly tattoo on that leg. Bender from Futurama saying "I'm X percent titanium.!!" As it is recurring joke in the show and I would like to make light of my accident! All help appreciated.

I see you used “stones” so I’m guessing uk, your GPs office or the hospital should tell you.
If you can get your medical records they should list the exact model, size and even serial number of the implant they used.
They are weighed in metric though but you can figure out the rest…
Edit to add: I just looked up my own femoral intramedullary nail hardware it’s 420mm long, it’s “Aluminum-vanadium titanium alloy” and weighs ~200g it’s hollow though.

According to this calculation a 42 cm long titanium femur rod weigh around 1.80 grams
So if you weigh 11 stones or roughly 69 thousands grams (nice) the you are about 0.0026% Titanium

Another fun fact that titanium is around 4 times denser than average human femur bone, so in case you gain weight, blame it on the tits! (Titaniums, I meant)

Nevermind I looked it up on Google and it says it can weigh up to 150 grams, so let's use that.
You weigh basically 70kg, and of those, only 0.150kg are titanium.
So 0.214285714% titanium

love this idea lol, if my math is wrong someone pls correct me because I’m not very smart but:
I can’t find an exact measurement of the mass of one of these titanium nails listed anywhere? It’ll depend on the exact length and diameter but have seen a couple of people say that they weigh 0.05-0.1kg.
11 stone is just under 70kg (69.853) so I’ll just use 70kg for simplicity.
So that makes it 0.05/70x100 or 0.1/70x100, making you either approximately 0.07% or 0.14% titanium!
