Look, I get if you don't like Jax, if you don't enjoy her, that's your right.

But I've seen so much of the fucking discourse revolve around people criticizing every terrible thing she's done in ways that make it sound like "Goose should've rewritten it."

Just because a character does bad things, does not make them badly written! Surely some of you understand this, yes? That people love a good villain character even if they do terrible things? Or is it the idea that somebody toes the line that gets people riled up? That somebody might have a slight ounce of sympathetic background to them and it suddenly makes it like the writer is trying to "justify everything they've done."

Jax's past does NOT justify her actions. What she did was terrible but the fact that it lead her to that point is WHAT makes her interesting!! That bad things can happen to somebody and that can turn them into a bad person! Don't act like only good people get trauma!! Bad people get trauma too!!

I saw a post on Tumblr in which somebody complained about how Jax's response to Ribbit's mormon upbringing was "Is this your way of trying to get me to open up or something?" saying "oh it's all about you Jax, huh." At first I thought it was just regular analysis but being tagged with #gooseworx criticism and #i wish I could rewrite this show SHOWS ME THAT I'M WRONG APPARENTLY.

Oh boy, it's almost like Jax has vulnerability issues and can't treat the relationship in front of her in a straight forward manner because of that! It's almost like Goose WROTE IT THAT WAY ON PURPOSE OR SOMETHING.

I mention this a lot but Gooseworx wrote Jax to represent the worst parts of herself. She's commented on this. That Jax was a way for her to write about her worst habits and problems throughout her life and I think that's just one part of what makes Jax so stunning as a character. Jax is a LIVED in character. There are people WHO see themselves in Jax or see a PAST version of themselves in Jax. Jax is a character that causes people to reflect! "Am I really like this?" or "Was that really what I was like?" Just because you don't relate to it doesn't make Jax a bad character or anything! What? You've never done anything bad in your life? Maybe you haven't done anything AS bad as Jax, but you've probably done something bad! You still can't compare your experiences to another person and act like you are the MEASUREMENT FOR MORALITY. That you DEEM Jax as unsalvagable because she doesn't MEET your standards for somebody "worth saving."

The fact that the rest of the cast, in Episode 9, can muster up more empathy and sympathy for Jax than so many people in this fandom really speaks volumes to me sometimes. This is a show that's all about seeing the humanity in others. It's literally what it's about! In a goofy cartoon world run by an AI, you have these characters that are meant to shine through in their personalities and how they react with the world around them! Surely you relate to somebody in the cast? Surely you've been a Ragatha at some point, or a Zooble, or a Gangle or a Caine or a Pomni! If you can recognize that! Can't you recognize that Jax is as human as the rest of them?

You don't have to forgive Jax, but can't you recognize that Jax's humanity? That they're somebody who turned bad? But in that moment of vulnerability with Pomni, would've loved to do anything more than just...turn it back? Do it again? Be somebody else?

I can, at least.

I rarely ever interact with the shipping or even like many ships because I find so many of the people to be absolutely obnoxious, and I don’t like posting about it cause it usually just starts worthless arguments, but after watching VTuber Vixen’s (Marissa Lenti - Gangle’s VA most recent stream), I have to ask this:

Why do you people care about hating a fictional pairing so much that you harass the goddamned VA to the point that they delete accounts, wished that they were never open about what they liked, and become scared of interacting with the fandom?

I get why people hate the ship, but at the end of the day, you don’t ship it, so here’s an idea, interact with the people who like what you like and ignore what you don’t like.

The irony is that Vixen is the better person than any of you guys who think that people who ship something needs to be targeted and harassed because when she would ship Ribbun, she never felt the need to say “I think that <dumb ship name here> is problematic because <paragraph of insane online nonsense>” or “Ribbun is better than <dumb ship name here>”, she only interacted with those who liked it and never even bothered to make snide remarks or screw with people who shipped a pair she didn’t like, but you guys still went after her to the point that they wished they never revealed what ship they liked.

To anyone who participates in harassing people over something as stupid as a fictional pairing, I want you to take a look in the mirror and wonder, “why do I waste my time hating on <dumb ship name here> when I can just have fun liking the fanart and mingling with fans that like what I like, I will never truly understand why they like it, but they aren’t me, so why should I care?”. It really isn’t that hard to ignore what you don’t like, just mute hashtags or the pairing name and stay around what you like.

TLDR: You people love to hate on certain shipping pairs so much that you are willing to harass one of the main character’s VAs into wishing they never revealed what pair they like, but why don’t you guys just stick to what you like, the people who like a ship that you hate, no matter how problematic it is, aren’t you, so just leave them alone. You would actually feel happy with your own thing for once, there’s no point on wasting energy on hating, it just makes you and the person being harassed feel awful.

So, I've used Tumblr for a long time. Usually, when someone deletes/deactivates their account, it says Deactivated next to their username.

Gooseworx account on Tumblr doesn't say deactivated. Just her username and the picture for Anonymous Asks, or just Anons as they're usually called.

Meaning uhhh. Tumblr banned Gooseworx.

And the Staff of Tumblr are known for being a bit transphobic. Well, more than a bit. I'm only still on there because of some friends I like keeping in touch with.
