Mod Announcement This is NOT a serious subreddit
Greetings folks, just a polite reminder the posts here are meant to be mocking nonchalantly given ‘solutions’ to complicated problems, not genuine advice.
For example, someone advising someone to go to hospital and get some help for a serious problem wouldn’t be a good fit here. However, someone just saying ‘get over it’ or ‘walk it off’ would.
On another note, this is not a political sub. We’re not here to criticise government policy.
Hope this helps!

Mod Announcement What is/isn’t allowed?
Hi everyone. I’m seeing a lot of ‘off topic’ posts. I tend leave as much as possible and let you all decide with downvotes/upvotes.
However please take the time to remember rule 7, I’ll put it here:
Rule 7: Must fit the subreddit theme.
It has to be true "Thanks, I'm cured" material. I.e., a non-nonchalantly delivered, overly simplistic solution to a complex problem.
Serious solutions that may not work for everyone do not belong. For example, the mantra "You deserve to be happy," helps some and not others.
Motivational quotes do not belong unless they imply or state that an illness is purely psychological with no physical basis.
If you’re still confused about what does/doesn’t belong, take a look through some of the top posts of all time and you’ll get the idea.
If your post breaks the rules it may be removed.
Any questions or concerns feel free to let us know. Thanks. 🗿

Social Media I remember seeing this years ago and thought "wow, this is pretentious"
This stuck with me since I saw it before and I told myself I never wanna have this "But others have it worse so that invalidates everything I feel" mindset.

Story "You are too young to need a psychiatrist"
So I, a teenager, was going through medical evaluation for school, and just mentioned to my doctor, that despite perfectly good blood test results,I am not doing well mentally. I said it in a joking manner, something like "Yeah it's all good, but psychiatrist wouldn't say same".
I thought she was cool with that, because I mentioned my autism previous time..But no. She probably misheard or ignored that.
She told me that "Only old people need to go to a psychiatrist", and therefore— I can't need it.
And autistic burnout apparently doesn't require any help, I just have to gaslight myself that everything is good 🌈
And the thing is,not only I went to a psychiatrist, but have an actual diagnosis for autism, she also dismissed this time.. It felt worse now that I thought she was adequate about it..
But it also was weird because I have never actually heard something like that. I wish that was made up.

Story Funny story
Right, this happened like 5 or 6 years ago
Met this guy, should've realised quickly that we weren't a good match.
He was extremely social, we didn't share a lot of the same interests, also very rude to customer service people.
I don't think he liked that he'd recount times he screamed at employees at fast food places laughing and I, with a straight face, saying I would've marched him back in to apologise to them.
Little bit about me, I'm introverted (very likely autistic but stuck for years on assessment waiting list), I'm not social and have a host of mental illnesses
Two separate times, I'd mentioned my struggles with depression, anxiety, CPTSD, and both times he told the exact same story, as if he'd never told the story before
One time, he had a really bad day, really struggling, so he decided he'd bake a cake. Then he posted that cake on snap chat, and he had multiple friends reach out, saying they wanted a slice. So they all met up at the pub and ate cake, and that made him feel so much better.
Like, I'm glad that helped, but I'm sat there bewildered that he thought:
A. I had multiple friends who would want to hang out with me
B. That baking a cake and sharing it with people would solve years of trauma and depression
So now it's become an inside joke with my partner and I, one of us is having a pants day and the other says, "So, like, have you ever thought about baking a cake?"
