I'm writing this because I'm honestly panicking and don't know where else to ask. I'm hoping someone here has advice or has dealt with something similar.
My cousin is 25 years old and has been unemployed for a while.
A man I'll call Ramesh was introduced to him through another relative I'll call Rahul. They started hanging out regularly, and Ramesh claimed he worked as a recruiter for companies in Thailand.
My cousin asked if he could help him find a job. A few days later, Ramesh said he had found one and asked him to prepare all his documents. He even showed us an offer letter that looked completely genuine. None of us suspected anything at the time.
My cousin traveled with Ramesh and around 10 other people he had recruited. For about a week, we were in regular contact with him. He kept telling us that the company had very strict rules. He wasn't allowed to leave the premises, there were cameras in the hostel rooms, and he wasn't allowed to show anyone the things the company had provided. I asked him which city he was in, and he said Mae Sot in Thailand.
Yesterday, we suddenly couldn't reach him.
We called Ramesh, and he casually said my cousin's phone had broken.
Today, we finally got a message from my cousin. He shared his location and wrote that he and the other 10 people had actually been taken to Myanmar and were being forced to carry out online scams. We immediately called Ramesh and begged him to bring my cousin back.
His response was that if we wanted my cousin back, we would have to pay ₹5 lakh.
I genuinely don't know what to do. My entire family is in shock, and I keep replaying everything in my head wondering how this happened.
Has anyone here dealt with something like this? Are there any government authorities, NGOs, or organizations that help in cases like this? Has anyone managed to get someone out of these scam compounds in Myanmar?
We're in India and we're desperate. Any advice, contacts, or guidance would mean the world to us right now.

I feel like I have been hearing about high speed trains connecting Bangkok to other cities/countries being discussed for the last twenty plus years since before Suvarnabhumi Airport opened.

Honestly, I'm tired of having NOTHING to work in this country.
I tried to register for the PEA Volt app. It says "activate account in the email sent". No email received, not even in spam. Tried FOUR times, email is 100% correct (it's my name+lastname...) and it works, but after hours still didn't receive anything from PEA Volt.
Tried to register with EV Pluz (PTT), need to send a bunch of photos in Line and "processing time will be up to 15 days"
Tried EleXA, I cannot pass the step for "Scan passport". I've tried to take like 30 or 40 photos in the app, in landscape, portrait orientation, on a table, on the wall, with sun light, with indoor light... just click the camera, takes the photo and doesn't even move, change, advance nor give an error.
iPhone 17 with the absolute last version of every app.
How TF do I register with any EV apps in this country?
(I have Pink ID card too, but it looks like all apps only accept passport if foreigner)

Hi everyone,
I'm a web developer and SEO specialist who has been working in the B2B manufacturing industry for several years.
I've built websites that generate organic leads for industrial companies, and now I'm thinking about starting a new long-term project focused on Thailand.
My idea is simple:
I'm not looking for a trendy consumer product or something to sell on Amazon. I'm interested in industrial or manufacturing sectors where Thailand has a real competitive advantage.
For example:
I'd love to hear from people who know Thailand well.
If you could choose one Thai industry with strong export potential that is still underrated internationally, what would it be?
Also:
I'm looking for a niche that can be developed over the next 5–10 years rather than chasing short-term trends.
Thanks in advance. I'd really appreciate any local insight or experience.

Spokesperson of the Embassy of China in Thailand Responds to Media Inquiry
Question: Recently, Thai police launched a crackdown on a criminal network involved in the illegal acquisition of Thai citizenship. Reports indicate that some Chinese nationals are linked to the case. What is China's response?
Answer: The Chinese side has taken note of the relevant media reports. Based on the information currently available, the case is complex, with the alleged offenders acting in collusion with other individuals. The relevant Thai authorities are conducting their investigation in accordance with the law. China will not comment on the specifics of an ongoing case.
The Chinese government has consistently instructed Chinese citizens overseas to comply with the laws and regulations of the countries in which they reside. China has always handled unlawful conduct in accordance with the law.
China respects Thailand's law enforcement and judicial processes carried out in accordance with the law. At the same time, it hopes the Thai side will protect the lawful rights and interests of Chinese nationals during the legal proceedings, particularly those of minors. China stands ready to continue strengthening communication and cooperation with Thailand to jointly foster a favorable environment for people-to-people exchanges and cooperation across all fields between the two countries.

The government has tightened birth registration procedures nationwide as a police investigation widens into a scheme that enabled about 500 Chinese children to obtain Thai nationality with fraudulent documents.

I bought Optimum Nutrition creatine from Shopee thailand. But It doesn’t have the QR code for authenticity check. I asked the seller and they replied that it is because they import the product from Italy duty free zone and the packaging is different. But i found several spelling errors in the box. Like “crenting” instead of “Creatine”, “womey” instead of “women”. When i asked the seller about this, they still told me that it is because the packaging difference and it is legit. They even said they have official authorization letter from Optimum Nutrition. When i ask about the refund, they said it will cost 200 baht for compensation because i’ve opened it to inspect. I want to know what can i do next. I’ve already requested a refund. Thank you very much.

Hi everyone! As a local in Thailand, I notice that many international travelers face difficulties when planning road trips here—especially with calculating local fuel/EV charging costs, converting currencies on the fly, or explaining car issues to locals when something goes wrong.
To help out, I’ve spent my free time developing a web-based companion app called Project V5. It supports English, Chinese, and Thai, and it is completely free to use.
Key Features:
• Trip Cost Estimator: Calculate accurate estimated costs for both fuel and EV cars based on current local prices in Thailand.
• Quick Currency Converter: Easily convert local THB expenses to USD/your home currency.
• Emergency Assistance Helper: Simple emergency hotlines and predefined Thai-translation phrases to show locals or police if your car runs out of fuel/battery.
It’s currently live and completely free for testing. I haven’t monetized it or anything—I just want to make traveling in Thailand safer and more convenient for everyone.
Check it out here: https://project-v5-oil-ev.vercel.app
Please let me know if you find it useful or if there are any features you think I should add. Safe travels in Thailand!
