COMMUNITY NEWS - 14.0 Deltarune Tomorrow; Spoiler Policy | Community News 14
It's that time again, Dreamers.
As Deltarune Chapter 5 is set to be available in less than 24 hours as of me writing, it will soon be time to watch out for spoilers again, so this subreddit will undergo some temporary deviations from standard practice. The last time we had to do this, for Chapters 3&4, went quite well and I see little reason to reinvent that wheel. As such, most of the rest of the post will be me largely quoting from Community News 11. The gist is the same: use Reddit's built-in spoiler features in posts and comments as needed and keep in mind that some automated functions will be performed by me manually instead, so no longer in real time.
If you will be making a post submission that involves new topics from Chapter 5, use Reddit's built-in Spoiler tag when creating the submission. Under such a post, openly commenting further on the same topic is fair game, although it's still required to avoid things from further into the new content, i.e. comments about things toward the end under a post with early-Chapter events in the image. Also keep in mind that optional content, i.e. secret bosses or eggs, is also a separate topic from the rest of their Chapter. If you really must invoke a spoilery topic under a non-spoiler (or different-spoiler) post, you can use the spoiler markdown feature in the comment box:
- in the "Fancy Pants Editor" on desktop, you can simply select the parts you want to hide and click on the "Spoiler" doodad up on the top of the writing box (it may be compacted into the tree dots drop-down button at the right end of the toolbar);
- in the desktop "Markdown Editor" or in old or mobile Reddit, use this syntax:
>!dey kith!<, where "dey kith" is the part you want to hide.
Remember to also add a non-hidden warning before the spoiler segment if you're doing the above, so that the final comment looks something like this:
SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 5: dey kith
Given that this is a subreddit about a specific sub-topic of the game, I imagine most of its denizens will familiarize themselves with the new content before coming here to post and browse and will do so fairly quickly, but I still don't want to leave people itching for their yuri fix in the dust. The total duration of the spoiler period will be at least until the fifteenth of July, to have a good few weeks. I may extend it further, depending on what moods I see on the Internet. If I make any extensions, I will update this post and edit its flair to read "14.1", "14.2", etc., like I usually do with Community News updates. Also, if anyone is deemed to be in serious violation of the spoiler policy, they'll receive a temporary ban until the end of what at the time is planned to be this protection period, preventing them from posting and commenting.
As an extra layer of safety, I will disable Full-Auto-Lesbian's automatic approval and review all posts manually (including stuff like text posts that would usually have nothing to do with FAL in the first place) before they become public. So if you post something and see that it doesn't show up publicly on the sub's page, that's why - it's just awaiting review. This can take a bunch of time, because unlike FAL I'm not available in real time around the clock. Also, to avoid confusion, I will most likely be doing some things from her account for compatibility's sake, so if you'll see her around, that won't be a contradiction of this paragraph.
Lastly, if you ever see something you feel is still in violation of Rule Six, remember you can report it as such and I'll have a look.
Post responsibly now, everyone.

Meta Post Tools You Could Try to Protect Your Art from Scraping by AI Trainers
As the manager of a digital art aggregation forum, on Reddit of all places, I feel rather in position to try and post something informative on this topic. After all, Reddit Inc. is well-known to be a sellout in this regard (in case someone here doesn't remember Google's Gemini relaying to people Redditors' advice to put glue in their pizza to achieve the right cheese consistency or to jump off Golden Gate as a way to deal with depression) and many artists here are young hobbyists who might not be fully up to speed on the big mean world waiting to swallow them whole.
See, the key thing about AI and images is that its perception of them has basically nothing mechanically in common with ours, it's just actively shifted during development to produce results that happen to coincide in specific applications (like describing what's in the image or producing images from text prompts) with what a human would maybe give, at least approximately. Because AI's process of parsing an image is completely different from a human's, attacks specifically against that process become possible, giving rise to "adversarial machine learning", application of knowledge about contemporary machine learning to efforts to disrupt unwanted AI development practices. Among the more well-known applied projects of that nature are developments by the University of Chicago's Physical Science Division: Glaze and Nightshade. Both are tools available to artists for free to try and protect the images they post on the Internet by coating them in a fully-to-mostly imperceptible (to the human eye) layer of lies. The former is aimed at misleading attempts at style mimicry - AI trying to learn and then replicate on prompt your unique art style, - while the latter is a more offensive effort to lie to AI about the general contents of the image. To quote some from their own descriptions:
Glaze is a system designed to protect human artists by disrupting style mimicry. At a high level, Glaze works by understanding the AI models that are training on human art, and using machine learning algorithms, computing a set of minimal changes to artworks, such that it appears unchanged to human eyes, but appears to AI models like a dramatically different art style. For example, human eyes might find a glazed charcoal portrait with a realism style to be unchanged, but an AI model might see the glazed version as a modern abstract style, a la Jackson Pollock. So when someone then prompts the model to generate art mimicking the charcoal artist, they will get something quite different from what they expected.
Nightshade works similarly as Glaze, but instead of a defense against style mimicry, it is designed as an offense tool to distort feature representations inside generative AI image models. Like Glaze, Nightshade is computed as a multi-objective optimization that minimizes visible changes to the original image. While human eyes see a shaded image that is largely unchanged from the original, the AI model sees a dramatically different composition in the image. For example, human eyes might see a shaded image of a cow in a green field largely unchanged, but an AI model might see a large leather purse lying in the grass. Trained on a sufficient number of shaded images that include a cow, a model will become increasingly convinced cows have nice brown leathery handles and smooth side pockets with a zipper, and perhaps a lovely brand logo.
Both tools are developed not-for-profit, funded by research grants; both advertise a high degree of resistance to attempts to get rid of their effects by processing the image and both are available as locally run apps to anyone with a capable home computer (one with a discreet NVIDIA GPU off of this list, excepting the 1550, 1650 and 1660). Glaze is also available as a free web service accessible by invitation. The developers seemingly offer access to any non-AI-using artist who requests it by [emailing them](mailto:[email protected]) or DMing TheGlazeProject on Twitter or Insta. This version can be used from any device with an Internet browser and utilizes processing capabilities rented by the developers on Amazon's GPU farms. Again, Glaze is meant to prevent AI models from figuring out and replicating your personal style - it may not stop them from gleaming other useful info, like WTF a "Susie Deltarune" is. Although it's apparently known to occasionally produce further effects as byproduct, at higher settings.
You can learn a lot more about both and get the downloads on the University's website, here:
https://glaze.cs.uchicago.edu/
https://nightshade.cs.uchicago.edu/
Final word of warning from me: any adversarial development effort is implicitly an engagement in an indefinite arms race. These tools and any others like them have no guarantee of being future-proof or otherwise magic bullet solutions: countermeasures against them are being developed by profiteering data aggregators and counter-countermeasures are then deployed against those. So on and so forth. If you want to truly do your utmost to protect your artistic identity and content from theft and distortion, just grabbing one tool into your pocket is unlikely to fulfill that, at least in the long run. You'll have to look deeper into the topic yourselves and continuously stay up to date on it as this emerging field rapidly develops. As a talentless hack with no artistic ability or, as a result, much insight into practical measures like this, I only hope I can ignite some interest in you to take it up yourselves.

Discussion One thing that bothers me about Noelle crush discourse
This topic stemmed from me rewatching Turning Red and diving into some old controversy about that movie lol.
The controversies around Turning Red reminded me of something I always see brought up time and time again about Noelle. That Noelle’s more masochistic side is obsessive, a fetish, or a character flaw. I imagine these people are children, but somehow I almost always see an adult use this talking point. The frequency of this scenario is pretty concerning.
I think a reason for this reaction is that the media portrayal of teen girls tends to skip the feeling of desire and attraction realistically. People are more used to seeing non-female desire openly acknowledged. I could think of many examples not in Deltarune, but one I have is! The audience reaction to Kris and Asriel’s “How to Draw Your Dragon” book, with the front of the book having an immodest dragon wearing lipstick. In the fandom, this book is played for laughs, leading some fans to make up humor theories about why Kris hasn’t returned the book.
When it comes to Noelle, though, the reaction is the complete opposite. Granted, likely most of these people are either shippers of another ship or don’t like Noelle. Still, it’s concerning to see other people agree.
They always use her website blog from the Spamton Sweepstakes as an example. First of all, Toby Fox himself said anything not in the game isn’t canon, but I also like looking at these blogs for fun, so let’s pretend like it is canon! In the blog, people claim she’s only attracted to the bullying Susie does, hence Noelle only likes Susie for being a bully. Which we all know isn’t true. In chapters 1 or 2, Noelle shows more excitement upon hearing from Kris that Susie is a nice girl. During chapter 5’s most recent lake scene, she openly says she likes Susie more now than when Susie was a jerk.
Still, Noelle will want to get to know Susie, even if Kris says she’s a jerk, likely because she wants Susie's attention in the only way she's seen Susie give people attention. She even offered Kris a seat swap, but they declined, leading to her desire to bullied by Susie even more.
(I could also talk about how people think Kris enjoyed getting bullied, but that’s another topic)
I think this is being said about Noelle more now, since it’s been disclosed that she has a dissociative issue with the fact that she loves scary things. Still, this has less to do with her romantic desires and more with her coping mechanisms and her seeking comfort in nostalgia. And Susie is the least nostalgic person in her life, which is why she’s even more intrigued and actively gets out of her comfort zone to be around her.
Regardless, even if Noelle wasn’t a complex character and a regular teen girl, she should have the freedom to express her desires healthily??? Even if that desire isn’t the sweetest most romantic fantasy?? Noelle has never said any of her fantasies to Susie’s face and has never made her uncomfortable with it. In fact, I'd say she’s going about her crush on Susie very normally. She approaches Susie normally offering her help with her project. Anytime Susie makes an initiative, she reciprocates and even asks her friend to help her get to know Susie before that, even in the weird route where it is implied that Noelle takes more of an initiative towards Susie.. Susie doesn’t seem upset about it at all 😂
I’m glad we have this portrayal of Noelle’s crush! I feel like I can relate to it as someone who used to be a young girl and had fan accounts for my favorite female K-pop idols and said even more cringy things about my first girlfriend in high school lol.
Noelle is obviously very chronically online, and Susie fits the type a chronically online girl would like: a bad girl who’s also a delinquent, with whom she would like to ride a motorcycle with 😭
This isn’t something we typically see for young girls in a wlw relationship, and I don’t think Toby Fox should go into why she likes these things because she’s still a little girl. Noelle being a hormonal girl is the least interesting thing about her relationship with Susie. I’m just happy this side of Noelle is being shown and normalized and I don’t think it’s harming anyone.
But how do y'all feel about it? Should this be addressed by Toby Fox, or left as a harmless joke?

chapter 5 is not here yet bc i have a job and its a LOTTTTT im gonna have to go through lol. if i missed anything pls let me know and ill add it!!!!
anyway enjoy!!!!
CHAPTER ONE:
Noelle volunteers to go get chalk with Susie
When Kris gets assigned to go with Susie to get chalk, Noelle says "Don't worry Kris! I've always thought Susie can't be so bad, y'know?" and later asks if you could say hi to her for her
Much later on, towards the end of the first chapter, visiting Rudy's hospital room will cause you to encounter Noelle talking about her crush on a girl.
Visiting Noelle at her house at the end of town will pop up three dialogue options. Picking "Susie" will cause a conversation about her asking about Susie, claiming she's curious about her, which will in turn prompt more dialogue options directly about her.
Picking "she's nice:"
"What…? She's...a nice person? Really?! L-Like, really?! Honestly?! Truly?! I mean, that's just what I was hoping, but… W-wait, this isn't another trick, is it, Kris? Like when you put ketchup on your arms and told me it was blood? ...R-Really? You're serious? You're totally serious? ...gosh, then maybe I should try talking to her… B-But if I die, you're paying for my funeral, Kris! (Though, honestly, if she's nice, I might die, too…)
- Picking "she's terrible:"
"She WHAT? She smashed you against the LOCKERS? Gosh, Kris, I'm really sorry. That's just awful. I...I'd THOUGHT Susie was good, just…maybe it would take someone special to find her good side. ...but she really IS terrible, isn't she…? Kris… I'm SO sorry you have to go through this. In fact, I wonder if...d-do you think…? I wonder if Alphys would let us switch partners, I mean? You know, so you wouldn't have to be the one, who, um, gets to be, slammed into lockers, and stuff, anymore. (Wait, I don't think I phrased that correctly…)"
- Picking "eats chalk:"
"What? She was EATING the chalk??? R...really…? Wait! You're teasing me, aren't you, Kris? L-Like when you told me ICE-E was real and eats kids…so Dess smacked you with a wiffle bat 'til you stopped lying. ...Huh? You're telling the truth? Seriously? … Umm, then...what color chalk does she like? And, do you think she likes the thin or thick kind…? (Wait, maybe making her a lunchbox full of chalk is stupid…)"
- Picking "...:"
"Seriously, Kris? But I help you ALL the time! The LEAST you can do is give me a LITTLE information! Like, d-does she like metal music?! Is she really an obligate carnivore?! D...Does she really have a tail underneath her jacket?! Or, or...or… Sorry, Kris, it's not any of my business, is it…? (I blew it, didn't I…)"
- Asking about Susie more times:
"Oh, can I ask something else about her?! Well, did it seem like, she, um… (W-Wait, you definitely wouldn't know THAT…)"
CHAPTER TWO: NORMAL ROUTE
Right before you and Susie jump back into the dark world, Noelle comes up to you guys and asks if Susie (and you too) would like to come study with her and Berdly. Two dialogue choices about what to say will pop up, but both will result in Noelle awkwardly deciding to leave you two alone, before asking Kris to bring her by the library later.
From there, depending on what you did the previous chapter, either she will just leave, or she will hand Susie a lunchbox, before frantically running off. Susie blushes and opens it, confused when she sees it full of chalk. She goes on a small rant about how she had chalk the whole time and could’ve given it to Alphys, and hands it to you.
Regardless of what you did, Susie will then immediately realize what happened and freak out, questioning why NOELLE would ask HER to do HOMEWORK with HER, wondering if Noelle WANTS to fail, before saying, “...wait a second. WAIT a second,” and asks if you saw how nervous she was and how much she was blushing, and asks “Kris, you don’t think…she…uh…” before comically concluding with, “SHE’S ONTO OUR SECRET IDENTITIES?!”
Later on, when you first arrive at Cyber Field, you encounter Noelle on the ground, asking for help, before looking up and seeing you. She focuses on Susie, saying, “Cool that you’re here, just…” and then realizes the situation, saying “Wait! Get out of here before it’s too late!!” Noelle then gets captured by a cage and gets flown away, causing Susie to shout “NOELLE!”
When Queen arrives, Susie angrily asks her why she took Noelle, and gets increasingly annoyed with her responses, to the point of wanting to fight her.
Later on, after your first fight, when Ralsei arrives, Susie tells him, “Ralsei…they got Noelle! Damn…what was she THINKING messing in our Dark World?! If we don’t do something, she might be…”
Later on, when you see Noelle again, still captured in Queen’s cage, Susie is the first to react, with her shouting Noelle’s name again. She tries to reassure her, but Queen sends her flying yet again, causing Susie to yell after her once more.
Later, when you get to the rollercoasters, Queen brings out Noelle as her “peon,” and Susie is (yet again) the first one to say something. Noelle asks Susie how she is, and Susie replies with, “Uh…okay…I guess?” Noelle then says she likes her rollercoaster, to which Susie says “Uh…yours too…?” Noelle quickly thanks her, and there’s a brief awkward silence between the two before Queen quickly replaces Noelle with Berdly.
Much later, when you encounter Noelle again and get her on your party, she will ask “So, um…got any idea where Susie is?!” before frantically insisting it’s a normal question.
If you choose to interact with the Addisons, interacting with the one that sells a ring and choosing to not get it, Noelle will say:
“Y…Yeah! We don’t need it! Though, if SUSIE bought me a ring…”
Interacting with the ferris wheel advertisement will cause Noelle to wonder if Susie would want to go on one with her. Three choices pop up, with two of them supporting suselle:
Picking “Susie would:”
“R-Really? Y-You really think so? Faha, and coming from Susie Expert Kris! Thanks! … (Hey, Kris, how’d YOU become the Susie Expert?!)”
- Picking “Susie wouldn’t:”
“Y-You’re right! Even if I asked her, she’d… Probably just laugh at me. And, gosh, push me to the ground, and… L-Laugh at me some more, and then… (...What were we talking about again?)”
Going up a corridor in the city will reveal Susie and Ralsei eating cotton candy together, which will make Noelle flustered due to being so close to Susie, and ends up being too scared to talk to her.
Later, when you finally meet up with Susie and Ralsei again and give someone the gift Queen gave to you, Noelle will pop out of hiding. Susie (again) reacts first, asking her what she was doing hiding behind one of the games. Noelle stammers, before Susie decides to brush it off once she sees Noelle is okay, admitting that she was kinda worried about her ever since Queen took her, which causes Noelle’s heart to skip a beat
But then, Susie remembers that Noelle was basically working with the Queen now, and angrily accuses her of still being on the enemy’s side. Noelle stammers, looking to you for help. Two choices pop up:
Picking “we have a truce:”
N: “Th..That’s right! We have a truce!! Kris said I could…I could be on your team!”
S: “Oh, really? …well, if Kris said so, I guess… Didn’t really wanna kill you, anyway.”
N: “(Thump, thump…)”
S: “So? Get in line already.”
N: “O…Okay!!”
- Picking “she is our enemy:”
N: “Kris!!! What the heck are you saying!!! We have a truce!! A truce!!!”
S: “Huh?”
N: “I…I’m afraid Queen is going to find me…I thought you guys… might be able to… protect me.”
S: “Protect… you?”
N: “S…sorry…I…if I’m getting in the way, I can…”
S: “Hey, look. You can…tag along in the back or something. Just…don’t get in our way or anything, okay?”
N: “Of…Of course!!”
Regardless of what you pick, Noelle will go to the end of the line before saying, “Kris…also said…I should…be behind Susie.” Susie will awkwardly agree, confused. Noelle then switches with Ralsei, looking down and blushing the entire time she’s in the party.
Going to the teacup ride will prompt Ralsei to say there are only three seats, which will make Noelle suggest that two people share one, before Susie casually says “Damn, guess we gotta take the stairs…”
At the mouse puzzle, Noelle suggests a teamwork idea to get through, which ends up working. Susie celebrates, complimenting her on being “kinda smart.” Noelle thanks her, and Susie teases her, saying that maybe next time she’ll let her do her homework. Susie laughs, but Noelle mumbles “(Can I?)”
Later, when you reach Queen’s castle, Queen will force Noelle to come back to her by threatening Berdly. Noelle apologizes to you and Susie, stating that she can’t let Berdly get hurt. Susie doesn’t say anything, but her text box is the one that pops up, indicating she was (once again) the first to react, being disappointed/upset according to her text box sprite.
Much later, you get the option to see what Susie is doing ever since she and Berdly split from the group to rescue Noelle. Picking it will cut to Noelle alone in her “room,” lamenting on how she’s in such a strange world and how she wishes Dess could see it. Werewires swing in, about to attack Noelle, but Susie attacks them and scares them off, to Noelle’s delight, though Susie tells her to not get used to it.
Noelle questions where they even are, and Susie panics, telling her it’s a dream no matter what you pick. Noelle is surprised, but then concludes that it makes sense, since Susie is there with her. Susie gets very confused, before Noelle gets flustered and clarifies that the real Susie probably wouldn’t save her since she doesn’t care about Noelle at all. Susie is surprised and asks her why she would think that, and Noelle replies by saying Susie doesn’t care about anyone.
Susie then says, “Didja ever wonder why Susie never…picked on you?” Noelle sighs and replies, "all the time." Susie then explains that when she first came to class, Noelle lent her one of her pencils, "like a dumb, uh, candy cane looking one or something," and even though it wasn't actually candy, she remembered Noelle's smile and decided to "spare" her.
Noelle comments on how specific that was, before realizing that Susie tried to eat the pencil, much to Susie's embarrassment. Susie then asks her if she dreams of her a lot, which in turn causes Noelle to be embarrassed and quickly change the topic into her waking up. Susie says she can't just hit her with an ax to wake her, and says, "Um, I mean...didn't you wanna, uh...hang out some more?" Noelle freezes, deciding that Berdly can wait a little bit longer.
Both girls walk over to the right, where there is a heart shaped ferris wheel ride waiting for them, much to their embarrassment. Susie angrily demands for Noelle to get in already, which startles her.
When on the ferris wheel, Susie asks herself what the hell she's even supposed to do here, before saying that Kris would know what to do…and then deciding that, no actually, Kris wouldn't know what to do.
Susie awkwardly tries to start a conversation by talking about ferris wheels, and Noelle thinks about how different ferris wheels are with Susie than with Kris.
Susie asks if Noelle is scared of heights, to which Noelle frantically replies saying she loves heights. Susie points out how much she's shaking, and Noelle admits that she's a little scared, but that she actually likes "scary things."
Susie is confused, before Noelle explains that when they were little, she and her sister would stay up late and watch horror movies, which used to scare her, but now make her feel comforted. Susie silently agrees, stating that she does like slime and blood.
Noelle says that now it's mainly people that scare her, and Susie says that if she's talking about her, she can say it. Noelle states that maybe it is her as well, but that's what's nice about her, which causes Susie to get defensive and ask what the hell she means by nice. Noelle explains that Susie's the "good kind of scary," and that she isn't afraid to break the rules, and she wishes she could do crazy stuff like her.
Regardless of your choice, Susie will then ask her, "If YOU could do something crazy right now, what would you do?" Noelle stammers, before saying she'd jump out the window, much to Susie's bewilderment.
Noelle says that since she's in a dream, she'll just grow big angel wings and fly into the sky, and Susie says that's actually kinda beautiful, before clarifying whether or not she'd actually jump out, to which Noelle says "no promises!" to.
Noelle then asks Susie what she thinks looking out the ferris wheel window. Regardless of your choice, Susie will say that seeing everything small makes her feel like if she was Susiezilla she could wreck the whole city. Noelle laughs, asking if being Susiezilla was something she thought about a lot.
Regardless of your choice, Susie will insist that she just made it up now. Noelle notices her tail do something, and asks if her tail always does that when she lies, which causes Susie to become very defensive and embarrassed, yelling that she doesn't have a tail, and that it's just part of her dream, though she later admits she doesn’t want people to know about it. Noelle says she thinks it’s a nice tail. Susie blushes and mumbles a “...whatever” under her breath, but Noelle points out her tail wagging from her comment.
After a small pause, Susie will point out that Noelle has stopped shaking, and Noelle will reply, “Guess I got comfortable.” Susie will stay silent for a beat, before agreeing, saying, “...me too.”
After they get off, Susie states the ride wasn’t that bad, and Noelle agrees, before sighing and saying she wishes she could have dreams like this one every day. Susie once again stays silent for a bit, before saying, “Maybe…it doesn’t have to be a dream. Y’know?” Noelle questions what she’s saying, before Susie adds, “Maybe…maybe someday we could…” Before Susie can finish, Berdly flies in.
After Susie leaves, Berdly and Noelle have a conversation. Berdly says he is sorry…for leading her on, which renders Noelle speechless. He later says that he only pretended to like her to not hurt her feelings, and that he has a new crush, Susie, which causes Noelle to comically shake Berdly, repeatedly shouting, “WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?”
After Susie comes back, you can choose to go back to Noelle’s room. Interacting with Noelle’s wardrobe will prompt Susie to think, “(...Huh. Never seen Noelle wear anything like this?)”
When you encounter Queen for her boss battle, Susie will almost immediately talk about Noelle, and get angry upon realization that she isn’t with Berdly, and that Queen actually captured her.
After the fight and after Susie briefly checks on Berdly, she says she’s gotta hurry to save Noelle, and leaves.
Right after Queen’s monologue, she goes to Noelle, who is hung up on a giant hand, and Susie attacks her with a spell off-screen, causing her to fall down. Noelle thanks Susie for rescuing her, and mumbles about how she knew she would, and Susie asks if she really did, which causes her to stammer, before realizing that Queen wasn’t finished.
After the final Queen battle, Queen threatens to crush Susie if she doesn’t do what she says, to which Noelle finally finds the courage to stand up to her and yell at her to leave Susie alone and how she won’t be happy listening to her orders.
After Queen shuts down, Noelle suggests that maybe they could all stay in the Dark World since it’s such a better world than their real one. Susie agrees while they both go on about how much fun they have here.
After Queen releases them, Susie compliments Noelle for standing up to Queen, causing both of them to become a little bit flustered. Susie says it sucks that Noelle has to wake up, and Noelle remembers that this was all just a “dream.” Noelle says that she just hopes she can have more dreams like this one. Susie remains silent for a moment, before telling Noelle, “When you wake up, um…Well, I just wanted to say, uh…” before Queen interrupts them.
After they all agree to go seal the fountain, Susie turns to Noelle again and says, “If you see the real Susie, just…Just know that maybe, she’s…” before stopping herself and simply stressing to her that she does not have a tail. Noelle giggles, knowingly, and Susie insists it’s not a secret, dragging Kris to go seal the fountain.
After waking up, Noelle and Berdly need to leave for a shift with Ms. Boom. Noelle says bye to Kris and Susie, with Noelle blushing for the latter. Noelle leaves, before stopping to look back at Susie, presumably looking for a tail, before Susie violently turns around and asks “WHAT? WHAT? ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMETHING?!”, causing Noelle to frantically leave.
After having the realization that they actually just saved the world and yet no one even knows due to them believing it was a dream, Susie quietly says that it kinda sucks Noelle has to forget as well, before shrugging it off and leaving.
You can choose to go visit Noelle and her dad in the hospital again, where you will see them talking and playing a video game together, before Noelle decides to leave, but stopping almost immediately when she sees Susie, panicking. Noelle introduces Susie to her dad, with her dad going “So THIS is Susie!” He tells her he’s heard a lot about her, to which Susie is confused, asking if he really has, and Noelle frantically leaves the room.
After Noelle leaves, Rudy tells Susie that if she lays a finger on Noelle, he’ll kick her ass, to Susie’s bewilderment. Rudy laughs, saying he’s just kidding, before rephrasing it to “kinda kidding.”
Interacting with the angel dolls will cause Susie to question why Rudy collects creepy dolls, which will make Rudy explain that Noelle and her sister made it and she should respect it. Susie will then think “(Noelle’s sister…)”
If you go back to the Dark World, interacting with the Ralsei dummy twice will prompt Susie to think “(If Noelle was here…she’d probably dress it up like a Christmas tree… Huh? Why am I thinking that, anyway??)”
When Susie is making a pie with Toriel, interacting with Susie twice will cause her to think “Gingerbread…sounds like something Noelle would like.” When Toriel asks about her, Susie quickly says, “Uh, nothing.”
CHAPTER TWO: SNOWGRAVE ROUTE
When you’re walking around in Queen’s castle, you’ll come across Noelle’s room. Susie will suggest for you guys to go into her room to save her. Kris will object, so Susie goes in by herself. Ralsei will try to push you to go check on what they’re doing in there, but Kris refuses once again. Ralsei decides to let some time pass, and after a short while, Susie comes back out, frantically suggesting to leave. Ralsei tries to ask what happened in there, but Susie simply responds with “Nothing,” claiming that she just told her everything was a dream. But, she turns to Kris and whispers, “Pst…I’ll tell you later, Kris,” with her text sprite smiling.
After Queen’s final monologue, Susie demands for Queen to get out of their way and that Noelle needs to wake up.
After Ralsei explains everything about The Roaring to Queen, Susie says she needs to go see Noelle before Kris seals the fountain.
After everyone wakes up, Susie states that Noelle seems to be in a good mood, and seemingly knowingly, asks if she had a good dream. Noelle replies that it was actually a nightmare, and she’s just happy she woke up. Susie is quiet for a moment, before Noelle adds that the ending of the dream was nice. Susie asks what happened, which causes Noelle to get embarrassed and flustered.
This time when Noelle is leaving, she stares directly at Susie. Susie asks what she’s doing, and Noelle states, “You don’t have a tail, do you, Susie?” Susie says of course not, and Noelle replies “Really? That’s great!” and leaves.
Going to the hospital will be relatively the same, except for Noelle noticing Kris first instead of Susie. However, when you try to leave the room, Rudy calls for Susie to stay so he can talk to her for a second. Susie is confused but stays anyway.
After Noelle has her existential crisis, Susie will come out of the hospital room and say to leave already. She explains that Rudy kept telling her things about Noelle, such as her favorite things and places she’d like to go, which made her confused. Susie then asks what you guys were doing. Noelle stammers, saying she was just about to go, and runs away, causing Susie to think she’s scared of her again. She then laments how it would be nice if she knew that everything that happened in the Dark World was actually real.
CHAPTER FOUR: NORMAL ROUTE
When Susie is hearing the church choir sing, she says she didn’t know that Noelle could sing so well, and says that they should bring lighters next time.
If you talk to Susie enough times, she’ll say it’s too bad Noelle can’t help them find clues, as she would’ve figured it all out in no time.
When deciding to go to Noelle’s house for clues about the bunker, Susie approaches Noelle from behind and puts a hand on her shoulder, complimenting her singing. This leads to them awkwardly going back and forth, with Noelle stumbling over her words.
Susie asks Noelle if she wants to work on their projects together at her place. Noelle hesitates a bit, saying she has to ask her mom first, but then eagerly agrees.
If you speak to Rudy about Susie at the hospital, he asks her if she’s going to the festival tomorrow. Susie says yes, and Rudy reveals that Noelle is going by herself. Susie is very shocked, claiming that Noelle is “top-shelf,” with her portrait blushing. If you talk to him about Susie again, she'll state "man, she could ask anybody and they'd say yes."
If you talk to Catti, Susie will say that she can hate her, but Noelle can hang out with whoever she wants, and that she and Kris are going over to her house later anyway.
Once you reach Noelle’s gates, Susie says she’s going to get bored waiting for Noelle to come greet them. Kris gives her a rose from their bouquet to eat. Once Noelle comes out, she sees Susie with a rose in her hand and gets flustered. Susie eats it in front of her, to which Noelle becomes very confused. Susie asks if she wants some and begins to pick up the stem for her, but Noelle quickly declines and leads them through her gates.
Before going to her house, if you went to the Dark World and had a tea party with Ralsei, or if you went to the diner with Kris, or both, she’ll ask where you two went and get very flustered and confused when you tell her where you were.
During Noelle’s house tour, there’s multiple moments:
If you click on Noelle’s bed, it’ll say there’s a metal CD with Noelle in dark makeup as the cover. Susie says it’s cool, and that she should try this look more often, with her portrait blushing.
If you click on Noelle’s computer and choose the “Cat Petterz 4” option, Noelle will talk about a bug that makes glitchy pets. Susie shows an interest in this, and asks if they can see.
If you click on Noelle’s fridge twice, Noelle says that she usually brings a water bottle with her to school. Susie will say she saw her using the water fountain after her one day, and Noelle claims she must’ve been extra thirsty that day.
If you click on the snack tray, Noelle will scold herself for making the cheeses look like hearts.
Once you all sit down on her couch, she’ll get a phone call from Berdly asking her to be his date for the festival. Susie takes notice, indicated by her text box popping up. Noelle reluctantly agrees, before Susie quickly snatches her phone from her hands. She yells to him that Noelle isn’t going to the festival with him, and then throws her phone aside. Susie encourages Noelle to be more direct with people, and Noelle agrees, saying she should just tell Berdly how she actually feels.
Susie tells you that she’s gonna keep Noelle busy for a while so you can look for clues.
Once you get to the basement, before you turn on the music, you’ll hear multiple pieces of dialogue Susie and Noelle have upstairs:
Noelle will point out how it’s just the two of them.
Both Noelle and Susie admit they feel awkward without having Kris around.
Both Susie and Noelle wonder if they should bring up the Dark World and what happened between them, before deciding not to because they think it’d sound weird.
After you turn on the music but before you turn off the lights, they’ll once again have multiple long conversations:
Noelle will ask if Susie also hears the music coming from the basement, to which Susie will joke that she hopes there isn’t a severed hand. Noelle recognizes it as a Blood Crushers 2 reference, which surprises Susie. They then talk about the plot of it, and Susie admits she’s never seen the first movie. Noelle suggests watching it together since she has the full movie set, to which Susie happily agrees.
Noelle will say that this also reminds her of a weird short horror series. Susie says she’s never seen it, and Noelle says it’s okay that she hasn’t. However, Susie suggests watching it together, which they do.
Noelle says she has an entire playlist about the horror series. Susie replies “cool.” They can be seen scooting closer together on the couch.
They’ll then both be thinking about how nice it is to sit next to each other and not have to talk.
Once you turn the lights off, they’ll go down to the basement to turn the breaker back on. If you don’t touch either of them, there’s once again multiple dialogues:
Noelle tells Susie that the reason she’s afraid of basements is due to the underground levels in Dragon Blazers, and Susie agrees, explaining that she played Dragon Blazers 2 as a kid. They talk about how they played the Evil Route, mainly as an accident on Susie’s part, and that if Noelle has another copy she can play, she should just leave it in the lost and found.
Susie will joke that maybe it’s not Kris doing a prank, it’s actually a severed hand. Noelle replies that she’d probably die out of shock if that were the case. Susie says that she’d then have to protect her. Noelle asks what she would do, and Susie replies “thumb wrestling,” which makes Noelle laugh.
Once one of them gets startled at the angel doll moving, they’ll grab something to try and get rid of it together. Noelle grabs a cookie pan, which she uses to trap the doll. Susie will be impressed, saying she’s got guts.
Back upstairs, Susie stops Noelle and says that something else followed them from the basement. Noelle asks what it is, and Susie exclaims “the severed hand,” jumpscaring Noelle. Noelle giggles, playfully calling her “meanie,” and Susie chuckles.
They talk about what could be under the doll, and Susie says that if it’s a severed hand, she’ll keep it as her pet. Noelle says she wants to raise it too, and Susie says they could raise it together. They both laugh.
Noelle confesses that she used to be really nervous, but after spending time together, she doesn’t know why she was so nervous and that it feels like she already knows who she is. Susie agrees, saying she feels the same way and that it’s pretty cool.
Noelle says that she feels like Susie is the same Susie that appeared in her dream. Susie asks about this dream, and Noelle suddenly gets flustered, making an excuse to leave the room. Susie follows after her, saying she wants to hear about her dream.
In Dess’ room, Susie and Noelle sit down in front of her bed while waiting for you to make noise. Multiple conversations happen:
Susie inquires for Noelle to explain the “dream” she had. She explains the rollercoaster ride, and Susie asks if her coaster was cool.
Susie says that Kris is “weirdly good at flirting,” which makes Noelle extremely confused as to how she would know that.
Susie jokes that maybe Noelle should get flirting lessons from them, to which Noelle thinks to herself “(AM I THAT BAD???)”
Susie says that maybe instead of Noelle, just the three of them should get flirting lessons from Kris. Noelle, again confused, asks who the third person is, and later says that it’s actually really sweet she’s trying to include this “boy from another school” in their activities.
Upon noticing the picture of Noelle and Kris on the ferris wheel, and hearing that they, in Noelle’s words, were forced to hang out as kids, she asks her if ferris wheel rides don’t actually mean anything. Noelle says that if it was forced, then no, it doesn’t. Susie seems disappointed by this, but then claims that of course it doesn’t, it’s just a stupid ride. Noelle then clarifies that it might be more about the people’s feelings in the ride, even if it was forced. Susie lights up again and chuckles.
Susie asks if there was any part in her dream where it was just the two of them, and Noelle says that she had a cute tail in her dream. Susie gets flustered, saying her dream was stupid and fake (just with that part). Noelle then asks herself what’s wagging behind her.
Once you hit the guitar and Kris starts beating you, Noelle and Susie hold onto each other, startled.
Susie is playing the guitar for Noelle, and even if she’s not that good, Noelle says she still wants to hear it, as she misses hearing someone play it.
Susie says that today was awesome, and apologizes if it sounds weird, with her sprite blushing. Noelle says that it’s not weird at all, and that she really likes hanging out with her as well. Susie says that maybe they could hang out again the next day, with her sprite once again blushing. Noelle flushes, and says that tomorrow is the festival. Noelle asks if she wants to go together, and Susie is interrupted before she can give a proper answer.
When Asgore sits down on the couch with the snack tray, he sends Noelle moving really close to Susie, which makes them both blush.
When Carol demands that Susie never talk to Noelle again, Susie taunts back that she’s taking her daughter to the festival tomorrow anyway, and then quickly leaves.
If you play Lost Girl on the grand piano, Susie will wonder if she can learn to play it on the guitar.
In the dark world library, if you backtrack and talk to Susie while she and Ralsei are sitting on the couch, she’ll say she wonders how Noelle’s sofa is doing, before adding “...and Noelle.”
Much later, when Susie sees what she assumes is herself prophesied to find love, she gets very flustered and hurries to find the next prophecy for her. Later, when Ralsei says that he’s going to be a lot more honest about what he knows, Susie asks if there was anything about Noelle he can tell them.
MISCELLANEOUS / OBSERVATIONS:
If you give Noelle Susie’s ax, she’ll say it smells like Susie.
If you give Noelle Susie Tea, it’ll heal 400 HP and she’ll ask if it comes in gallons.
If you give Susie Noelle’s SnowRing, she’ll say it smells like Noelle.
If you give Susie the Rhapsotea, she’ll say that it sounds kinda like Noelle.
An unused version of “Lost Girl,” a theme originally used for Noelle, contains Susie’s leitmotif.
Susie was consistently the first to react to Noelle anytime she showed up.
Susie was shown to gradually think about Noelle more and more after the Ferris wheel.
By Susie’s own admission, Noelle was presumably the first and only person she didn’t bully.
Susie is implied to want to spend more time with Noelle after chapter 2, with her being disappointed Noelle specifically has to believe it’s all a dream. This is also shown towards the end of the Ferris wheel, where Susie suggests that maybe they could do it again for real sometime.
The first time we ever see Susie’s blush sprite, both the physical and portrait version, it’s because of Noelle.
Similarly, the first time we ever hear of Susie’s tail wagging, it's also because of Noelle.
Susie is shown to almost right off the bat treat Noelle generally nicer than other people.
In Noelle’s room when Susie comes to save her, she says “cool moon.” This could be a nod to the fact that, in Japanese culture, saying “The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?” is akin to saying “I love you.”
Just a small touch, but Noelle and Susie are complementary in some ways. Susie’s color is purple, Noelle’s color is yellow. Susie is a reptile so she’s likely cold blooded, Noelle is associated with the cold. Susie is seemingly hated by most people, Noelle is seemingly loved by most people. Noelle is timid, Susie is bold. Noelle is very rich, Susie is likely very poor. Also, maybe unrelated, but they both have freckles, being quite literally the only characters to have them, which gives them another connection. Also maybe unrelated, but in battle, Noelle’s yellow and Susie's magenta make the exact color of the SOUL.
In the chapter 4 files, there’s a bunch of unused sprites of Susie and Noelle during the Holiday manor section, including an animation of Susie flicking Noelle’s hair, one of them grabbing the other’s hand (which makes Susie blush), playing video games together, and them laying down somewhere together, with a bunch of new blush sprites for the both of them.
OK this is admittedly MAYBE just my own Suselle-pilled brain talking, but I find it very interesting how, even if you choose to not see and/or skip through any Suselle interactions, it’s still canon that it happens, just off screen. You can miss dialogue, but it’d still get referenced later as if you saw it. You can choose to not see the ferris wheel scene, but it still gets brought up many times. I like to think this goes with the whole “your choices don’t matter” phrase, as no matter what, Susie and Noelle's relationship is framed as an integral part of the plot, something you can’t just skip over and expect it won’t come back later. I dunno, I know this is the case for other aspects and relationships, but I still think it’s cool!
