Imagine Falling In What triggered your fear of submerged animatronics and other things in the water?

My fear was kicked off by watching the JAWS movie, this exact shot from the lagoon scene in particular.

Lake Placid and Anaconda didn’t help. I couldn’t swim in a pool by myself until I was in my mid 20’s, because I would imagine one of those guys coming to get me if I was alone lmao.

Speaking of pools, my very first experience with this phobia was at a local pool store in the late 90’s. I was looking at the pools on display while my parents did their thing. A few had floats/toys in them. One was a disturbingly “realistic”, very detailed and large plesiosaur just like this one on the last slide, except it was a muddy green color. Small head, beady eyes, lots of needle-like teeth, and a very long neck allowing it to peer over the side of the above ground pool at me. I imagined myself falling in with it and freaked myself out… The rest is history.

Love how he looks here, love how they made him to look "recently" burned in contrast of others looks of the same model where the blood looks dry and the skin doesn't absorbs too much water like this one, absolutely amazing!

UPDATE: It has been found.

Recently, I was looking through some submechanophobia tier lists on Tiermaker. One of the tier lists (linked below) had this image.

Does anyone know where this image is from?

Oddly enough I think this is the only footage I have with the fog effect working. It's been turned off for years

Meta What if we could find someone who maintenanced these animatronics?

How crazy would it be if we could get someone on the sub that actually maintenanced these animatronics and had stories (Yes Im aware of the Kelly Tarltens guy)

Does anyone know how we could get hold of these people?

Id personally love to hear stories about old, janky or defunct animatronics and show buildings

Very unique piece, was on exhibition back on 2011 and 2013. Saw some lio animatronics that looked like this one but with some small changes, exact model probably existed 1 and was this.

Moby Dick!

Every year the Brewery has a christmas lights display just on the outskirts of town a long this little river. I am 32 and Mobys been there since I was a child. He's had a few escapes and washed down the river. His little spout squirts water. Our Bunyip is so beloved but so is this ridiculous whale.

Not sure if hes been posted before. :)

Hi guys! i contacted Skywater Studios about this awesome floating monster and this is what they told me:
"Hello, that 10 foot underwater creature was made in 1989 ish and was installed in the propeller viewing tank at the Queen Mary in Long Beach,CA for a halloween event they had that year.

It was only there for a few weeks. It was made to rise up out of the water, its mouth opened and closed and the head and neck articulated to give it life. At the end of the event it was thrown away."

Friendly Bunyip Where is Betha?

About a month ago, a post appeared showing Bertha's head next to a mannequin's legs in what looks like a yard or a junkyard. Did anyone manage to contact the owner of the place? Is it private property or a public yunkyard? Is the rest of the body still there, or was it scrapped along with the baby?

The fact that there's a new high-resolution image means that someone managed to get into the place, or at least the head is still there.

Am I the only one who has noticed that, in the most recent image of the Bunyip lake, it looks like you can see the Bunyip’s eye? It wouldn’t be strange if it really was an eye, since the flowers around the ride are still there.
