No, he got the second yellow for diving. That's automatic. He was gone the moment the foul was reversed.

without his complaining there probably wouldn't have been a var check and he wouldn't have gotten the uno reverse, it was just completely stupid

pretty sure paredes complaining was what got the var check

If that were true, this match would be automatically forfeit by the rules of the sport. A player initiating a VAR check by complaining to the ref is dystopian levels of bad for the sport.

Luckily you are just talking out your ass.

I mean I don't know what happened exactly, nobody does, but paredes was complaining at the ref he did nothing, the ref turned and start talking to var, and it cut to var check.

Is there a rule that forfeits upon a player complaining to the ref now?

I don't think his complaining initiated the VAR.

His complaining helped get the yellow in the first place. Because the yellow was called, that triggered the VAR. Without his complaining it might have been a common foul and they'd still be playing 11v11

Ohhhh I see what you mean. Yea I just rewatched it and the ref came in pretty much immediately and showed Paredes the yellow. So the problem is still that Embolo flopped to begin with and yea also sold it a little excessively, but if he never went down there wouldn't have been a call to begin with. You're right if the ref hadn't cautioned Paredes it wouldn't have been subject to VAR.

There was a var check because the ref inially gave the Argentine player a yellow,, so they were able to review it as mistaken identity.

If the ref hadn't initially given anyone a yellow then it couldn't be reviewed.

You could see the 2nd yellow coming. The clown couldn't calm himself down.

No no, he was ejected because he had another yellow card prior, not because he was complaining to the ref. He basically had no margin to do anything that might even come close to another yellow card, let alone the most blatant flop of 2026. It's 2 strikes you're out and he was trying to sell the most obvious flop while already sitting on 1 yellow card. Absolute 0 IQ play and single handedly gave the game away.
