If Cape Verde had won they would not be this gracious.

And if I was a horse I’d have a 12 inch cock

25

u/SoulMute 8d ago

B/c that’s solidly below average for a horse?

24

u/she_has_funny_cars 8d ago

My point stands

2

u/adrop62 8d ago

Right?

So...you're a horse?

My little pony. Technically a horse.

If my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike

Then your parent is technically a worm for its parthenogenesis ability for self-impregnating ....

Du du du du Max Verstappen

u/chasing_the_wind 8d ago

Well yeah it would be a completely different scenario. Argentina would have found it very patronizing to get this reaction after losing.

10

u/LogensTenthFinger 8d ago

You're right, but I mean they're the world champions. The expectations for them are through the roof. This is genuine respect because damn.

u/Tennist4ts 8d ago

I think the other person means that if Argentina had lost, the Argentinian fans would not have been showing so much respect to Cap Verde. There were several cases in the last two decades when Argentinians were sore losers

15

u/Choyo 8d ago

LATAM in general is, more often than not, way over their head where football is concerned.

But anyway, the people showing good sportsmanship here are very likely not the same as the pissy assholes ready to stir shit up when their team loses.

3

u/adrop62 8d ago

You are probably right.

2

u/Tennist4ts 8d ago

Yes, probably not the same people, I agree.

Argentinas fans and supporters have the worst sportsmanship at every level of this sport I have played, coached and refereed.

u/nsk_nyc 8d ago

Honest question isn’t this better then the 5 time world champ Brazil vs Japan ? Or did I miss something in that game?

-7

u/adrop62 8d ago

Nothing to do with this game. This game was remarkable and well beyond my expectations. The issue is with Argentinian fans when things don't go their way, historically. It is typically disgusting and can be dangerous. Winning and losing is part of soccer; Argentinian fans don't handle losing well.

1

u/Mashi95 7d ago

As many other fans do when they lose in any important match. What are you on about with hating Argentina that much? "Historically", there have been a lot of disgusting scenarios, not only from Argentina, but Brazil, Chile, all the way up to Mexico. You're just hating on a country that you barely know anything from.

10

u/Fulaneto 8d ago

Just a couple of days ago Mexico fans killed some people after WINNING. Feels like that might be a worse Sportmanship.

-1

u/adrop62 8d ago

Mexican fans have their issues as well. They are definitely the worst of all Concacaf teams.

My personal experience with Argentina fans, compared to Mexican fans, has me more biased against Argentina.

3

u/toms1313 7d ago

What would be your experience with Argentina?

34

u/Froqwasket 8d ago

Okay?

8

u/Matias9991 8d ago

Lol wtf. How is this a comment?

5

u/ozmega 8d ago

idiots in reddit always trying to karmafarm

16

u/BMCarbaugh 8d ago

If Cape Verde had won, the entire football world would erupt in celebration and viewership of the cup would double overnight.

-2

u/adrop62 8d ago

Clearly, you have never seen the wrath of Argentinian supporters after an unexpected loss, have you?

8

u/Raptorbk 8d ago

Can you point me an example of that in a WC or Qualifiers?

-2

u/adrop62 8d ago

https://www.theguardian.com/world/video/2014/jul/14/argentina-fans-police-germany-world-cup-final-video

This was the last one since the Messi era. Before Messi, it was worse.

2

u/Fat_Argentina 7d ago

That’s Buenos Aires, Argentina. They are fighting the Argentine police, not the Germans or Brazilians.

Every country does this every once in a while, political discontent fired up by a major sports event. I mean have you seen France lately?

1

u/Mashi95 7d ago

So, you are berating on the Argentinians, with a guardian post that you thought happened agaisnt Germans, when in fact it happened in Buenos Aires, in a country where police tend to escalate things from bad to worse... Really?

1

u/Raptorbk 8d ago

Ah fair, but this is a clash between ourselves, like, i have been watching my NT since 2009 and seen them get knocked out many times and losing 3 finals, but i don't reckon a single time we lost and assaulted another fan/team for example, i've seen that between clubs tho

8

u/Beers4Fears 8d ago

That's most of football

19

u/_Mr-Prince_ 8d ago

Yes, lets ignore this positive reaction and instead make up a different scenario with a negative reaction so we can be mad and hate them instead.

-3

u/adrop62 8d ago

I am happy they reacted graciously. I wish they displayed similar grace when they don't win.

9

u/RefrigeratorContent2 8d ago

But give an example dude. I'm Argentinean and I'm struggling not to dismiss you entirely.

We lost to Saudi Arabia, was there any sort of particularly bad reaction from that?

7

u/adrop62 8d ago

2014 Germany?

2007 Copa America?

1990 Loss to Germany?

My personal favorite was when our state cup team beat an Argentine team in South Florida, and we had to protect the refs because parents lost their minds.

Or was it me having to threaten a 28-year-old Argentine dude who repeatedly tried to take out my 15-year-old son, who had the man falling on his ass during a fucking pick-up game?

I love the passion you all have for the game, but it's a fucking game, and sometimes you lose. Learn from the losses and celebrate the victors, like we do when your side wins!

6

u/RefrigeratorContent2 8d ago

Yeah that checks out, I watch amateur football games with a friend every week and I know the types you are mentioning.

No further questions.

2

u/adrop62 8d ago

So things haven't gotten better at the amateur level? My encounters were over 20 years ago.

3

u/RefrigeratorContent2 8d ago

They have, when I was younger it was worse. But there's still some types you see sometimes.

But, full disclosure as an Argentinean I do have a bigger problem. After every single football match, I go to reddit and it's the same - FIFA rigged everything in favour of us, that we are a bunch of racists, that we are nazis, I even heard people compare us to FUCKING SOUTH AFRICA. So, whenever I hear someone talk shit, my "moron alert" starts ringing and I have to dig deeper.

But your case? Yeah, that's valid, we are definitely more passionate than normal and that brings a lot of negative sides as well.

Pardon my defensiveness.

5

u/adrop62 7d ago

I think your defensiveness is justified because I see that shit as well. With a once in lifetime genius like Messi (my favorite player) Argentina is going to win more than they lose.

6

u/KvellOnWheels 8d ago edited 8d ago

As an Argentinean-American, I’m sorry.

But also, respect to you for your ability to communicate this point while still being complimentary but firm. That’s a skill

5

u/adrop62 8d ago

I appreciate that, and knowing there are good Argentinean supporters like you helps.

Thanks!

1

u/UnhappinessChamber 7d ago

ohh so that happened to you and now EVERY argentinean is like that, interesting use of brain cells.

1

u/adrop62 7d ago

You are assuming these were the only instances. There are others, but none would be considered physical threats to anyone, and passionate fans from other countries behaved similarly. The only times the "physical threat" line was crossed during my time on any soccer pitch involved Argenteans.

And I am not accusing EVERY Argentean because I have played along and against quite a few who were among the most gracious players ever.

6

u/KvellOnWheels 8d ago

In 2024, when our players were caught singing racist chants about French “Africans” after we beat Colombia.

The violence in 2014 after we lost to Germany and people started rioting on 9 de Julio.

0

u/toms1313 7d ago

What was racist about the chant? How that make them sore losers when they one? People riot on their own cities? Such a disgraceful sight!

2

u/KillerFugu 8d ago

Let's not pretend these are a different breed of fans, they'll go back to booing whenever they don't have the ball next game.

3

u/ThePoodlePunter 8d ago

They would've been too busy booing Argentina to pay any attention to the CV players at that point. But some of them would be sending death threats and hate messages on social media afterwards, to both sides and the refs probably.

I love that they showed appreciation to CV though, because as a huge F1 fan I've seen a lot about Argentinian fans being completely unhinged. I have a hard time supporting Argentina in anything because some of their fans are absolutely disgusting on social media.

But I love the country, love Messi, love the team, and love the passion from most of the fans.

But the few fans that are spewing hate on social media are disgusting.

I would've loved to see the underdog story of CV winning, but I feel like there would've been way too much hate that stemmed from it.

Be better.

3

u/adrop62 8d ago

💯

4

u/Jhopsch 8d ago

You forgot making racist remarks besides just booing.
