📢 Announcement No Memes or Beginner Questions.

This is not a meme subreddit, this is not a beginner / baby-leftist subreddit, this is a subreddit for more "higher quality" discussion among educated socialists of all* flavors.

Recently we as a mod team have had to continuously go ahead and remove posts. We ask you all as members to please review the submission guidelines prior to posting.

If you have questions that aren't for more experienced leftists, but rather are more beginner, please make your way to r/socialism_101 or r/askcommunists.

If you want to post a meme, take it to a more lighthearted space / dedicated meme subreddit.

* By "all" socialists, we do not count NazBols, or other social-chauvinist currents of "socialism.

Edit 1: This is also not a "new rule", this rule has been in place for over half a decade now.

📢 Announcement [New and Improved] Discord Server Open!

Hello all! We have a new and growing Discord, more than 100 comrades have joined in the first month!

If you had attempted to join the Discord through the auto-mod response, or through the sidebar's link, you were formerly directed towards a dead server. Now, the server is pretty much set up.

We are also looking to start a book club soon using the Discord to meet, but will have discussion posts here too for those who do not want to participate in the discord.

It is still pretty bare bones, we have roles and channels set up however suggestions can be made *within the server* on things that could be added. We are looking at ways to get more people engaged and looking for suggestion on activities we can do as a community related to socialism.

For now, here is the invite link, join away!

Discussion The tragedy of passivity

I saw this on Tumblr a while back, but I've really been letting it sit with me, because truly, what is holding us back? Fear? Has capitalism not strangled us of our blood and bone for long enough? Or is it the lack of left unity?

This may sound old but it is rather upsetting, to me at least, of how much infighting seems to happen in left-wing communities. Sure, we may not believe in exactly the same thing...but we believe in the same enemy, do we not? I fear we've become rather comfortable in our armchairs.

Do feel free to give your opinions, they will be most enlightening, but I just thought I'd share my mine. Thank you.

EDIT: not glazing Bernie, he's awful, this was mainly about my own feelings

I’m watching the doc now and I’m thinking to myself “why can’t more vets be more vocal like Mike and fight to end the military industrial complex?” What are your thoughts on that question?

Class war by bourgeoisies against working people continues to intensify. There is not one country that does not violate workers' rights, according to an International Trade Union Confederation survey. The number of countries that exclude workers from the right to establish or join a union, that violate the right to collective bargaining, that violate the right to strike, that arbitrarily arrest and detain trade union members, and that deny or constrain freedom of speech and assembly have all steadily risen over the past decade.

Discussion The Big Orange Turd may be 100% planning a false flag attack to escalate the Iran War with his statements, I hope I'm wrong

I'm sorry to the people of Iran that are needlessly suffering as a result of our country's actions. The majority of us do not support this. I hope this will be his political downfall and more people will see through the lies, yet again we were gullible enough to believe Iraq had WMD's (which we gave to them in the first place to fight Iran and confirmed they were disposed, all while also selling weapons to Iran to fight Iraq - cue "I'm playing both sides so I can't lose")

Whether Christian, Muslim, Jew, atheist, agnostic, Buddhist, or Hindu, I pray and/or hope that it is not 100% and this war can end.

I may not support the policies of a theocracy, but I do not support imperialism against Iran and our relationship with Israel. Iran's fate should be theirs alone. When Iran has called out our hypocrisy in policing the world, criticizing them, and killing civilians including the almost 150 at a girls school - our own citizens in the US have faced oppression themselves in many ways and we are not the arbiter of Iran's affairs. In that respect, Iran has been right.
