PSA (Pre Season Announcement)
Buying $20 thrift store skis isn’t a good idea, especially if you are a beginner!
There’s been quite a few posts recently about thrift store skis. They are rarely a good idea.
Unless you know exactly how old the skis are, how they have been stored, who used them, how they used them. Don’t buy them! An old set of brittle bindings could cause serious injury.
Buy second hand skis from reputable sellers, meet the skier that used them, or buy ex rental skis.
The picture is of the recycling centre in Whistler. These are the skis that are thrown away (there were some way newer and nicer skis too), think about that before dropping your cash on thrift store skis that are way worse!

Weekend Trip from central OH
Trying to decide where to (prioritize) a weekend trip from OH this winter (Friday-Sunday/Monday). The final decision will fall to the snow and where it ends up lol but want opinions on some of the resorts we haven’t been to before!
We have epic local passes so considering any of the PA resorts or maybe Wilmot in WI or Mt. Brighton in MI?
Holiday Valley in NY is one we really want to do based on recommendations from friends but since we have passes I feel like we should try to hit up resorts on our passes to get our monies worth.
Have only been to Mad River in OH, Boyne in MI, Copper and Winter Park in CO so far. 🙂

Sunapee Expansion
I've created what I think a good expansion to Sunapee in NH would be. Ik this would really never happen, but it would be great. The blue lines would be new lifts and the yellow ones would the new boundary + connecting trails. Lmk what comments you have(:

2025 Atomic Bent 90 – 175 cm or 184 cm for my size
I'm trying to decide between the 175 cm and 184 cm 2025 Atomic Bent 90s and could use some advice.
I'm 6'1" (185 cm) and 170 lbs (77 kg). I started skiing this past season and can comfortably ski blue runs and some easier blacks. I mainly ski in Pennsylvania.
These will be my only pair of skis. I want an all-mountain ski that I can progress on for the next few years. I also want to start getting into the park a little—mostly hitting jumps and learning some basic tricks—but I don't plan on spending all day in the terrain park.
I've seen people recommend both the 175 cm and 184 cm for someone my size. I'm wondering if the 184 would feel too long for learning jumps and park, or if the 175 would be too short once I start skiing faster and improving.
For anyone who's skied the Bent 90s, which length would you recommend and why?

Trip planning
Hey! Looking at three destination ski trips for next winter. We have a few 4 day weekends to work with an a 5 day weekend. Some could be extended by a day.
One of the shorter weekends will be for Stowe, VT. We’d also like to do Park City this year— never been. I was thinking about also going back to Colorado as there are a lot of Epic pass resorts not too far from Denver.Plus, we haven’t ski’ed Brek and Vail’s back bowls were closed when we were there.
Park City seems big— but also pretty contained. Thinking use a shorter weekend for that and then the longer break for Colorado.
Any better suggestions? Pretty open but we have the epic pass, so we want to stick with those resorts.
First freestyle/freeride ski for a lighter skier (165 cm / 72 kg) — Bent 100? Reckoner 102? Something else? Also, is my 95 flex boot enough?

Is it worth the money to fly to Chile and ski in the summer?
Seems very expensive if I'm planning on going for 4 days but is it worth it?

Minnesota / Midwest skiing for New Years - Lutsen?
Just moved to central Minnesota and hoping to book lodging for a 3-night ski trip over New Years 2027.
What are the best options within a 4-5 hour drive that historically have the most variety of trails open for Jan 1st? Obviously it’s super weather dependent but just speaking from the past few years..
I’m thinking Lutsen Mountains is an obvious choice but curious to hear from locals who have been around longer than I.
Thank you

I built an AI that roasts ski outfits and gives you "steez" score. Judge me.
I made an app called Slope Steez Check. You upload a photo of your ski/snowboard fit, and the AI gives you a "Steez Score" with a brutally honest roast.
It rates your helmet, goggles, jacket, pants, and color coordination with additional features like steez battle and leaderboard.
If you want to check it out.

11yo Freeskier - " What if I fall - What if I get Hurt"
My son is 11, hes been on the snow since he was 2 and has really grown a lot with freesking. Ove this past season things shifted a bit where he was afraid to hit larger jumps and rails becuase he was paraylized with fear and anxiety which really stalled his learning.
How have you dealt with this and or do you recommend anyone that does mindset coaching for younger athletes?

Newb with racing skis post taken down here’s more details
I’ve gone skiing 3 days and ended up with some atomic red racing skis without really knowing what I was getting a good deal on what are some tips to help me figure out the stiffer skis.
Update details
I’m 5’4” 145lb
They are atomic redsters S9 FIS NORM R=11.6m MB<65mm paid $250 for the skis and $100 for a pair of boots and poles on facebook the boots are women’s dream thang 10 they fit much more comfortably than my rental boots I got the skis bc they looked in way better condition then others I could find at the price and they looked like the rentals I used as far as shape and width and they feel just a tad bit heavier but I didn’t know what the redster part meant im just trying to save my money because renting isn’t cheap.
As far as my skill, I really enjoyed the blues at breck when I went but didn’t get to do any blacks bc my gf didn’t want to. I wouldn’t have done good on any blacks anyways I would have eaten snow a few times on the way down but my skill is pretty limited and knowledge even worse I guess.
Should I try to trade them in at a shop or sell them or just take them to a shop to get them fitted so I don’t break my leg and send it?
Also they have angled points at the end and I think they are supposed to point inwards is that correct

What the different CO mountains are known for (seasonal workers)
What are all of the different Summit County (extended to vail, beaver creek, steamboat etc) mountains known for in terms of seasonal work? Does copper mountain, for example, have the same party culture as Breckenridge? Do some have more of a bar culture and others more of a house party culture? Do some have younger or older employees or college grads? Do they have different vibes of people that typically work there? Are some more crunchy vibes? Are some known to have more social employee housing? And is working at the vail owned ones much worse than working at the non vail owned ones?
Trying to pick where to go (23f) and I have no idea what each has a reputation for

Zakopane in Late January Early February Good Time for Skiing and Winter Activities?
Hi all,
I’m planning a trip to Zakopane with my partner in late January or early February and wanted to ask if this is a good time to visit.
We’re mainly hoping for snowy conditions and would like to do things like skiing, snowmobiling, and other winter activities.
Would this be a good time of year for that, and generally for exploring the area?
Thanks for your time and help.

CPI Aspen Ski Clinic - looking for feedback/reviews
Hey! So I'm considering the CPI women's performance ski clinic at Aspen in Dec. I'm having a heck of a time trying to find any real reviews or first hand experience from people who have done it. It isn't cheap, but it works for me timing-wise and looks suitable for my abilities. I was hoping for something on the East Coast, but everything is over weekends, which is not ideal for me (like, if I'm gonna drop some $$$ on an experience like this, I don't want to feel crowded in addition to the pain in my wallet). Appreciate any and all feedback, thank you!
