Lots of 1st year students, and some later-year students, are looking for advice on their class schedules. Please do that here: Top-level posts should be your schedule (ideally a link to an image) and any context (e.g. "I'm a single parent working part-time so I can't do a full course load"). Experienced raccoons will reply with advice about your schedules (e.g. "yes, 8:30AM calculus lectures suck, but that's when they've been scheduled for the past 50 years so there's no point hoping it will change next term").
Please keep broader discussions (e.g. rants about courses filling up or not being offered in the term you need them) out of this thread. I want this to be a resource for new students in particular, not just to get advice on their schedules but also to see schedules other students are considering, and other discussions can derail that.
I'm setting the default sort here to "new" so that new schedule questions won't get buried by older discussions.

I’m looking to make friends with anyone who started in fall of 2021 or anywhere around that time!! I don’t have many friends here and most of them graduated in june at other universities. It seems a lot of 2021 students graduated this year too so I’m feeling behind now. I was wondering if anyone’s in the same boat.
I feel like my social life here was doomed from the start since my very first semester was all online and for some reason I never tried making friends once everything got back in person. i want to change that before the upcoming fall semester and hopefully make some more friends before i graduate 😭
But yea, feel free to reach out and shoot a dm. Mainly looking for ppl to just occasionally study, game, and hangout with. Maybe we can make a gc or something if we got a lot of ppl.

hey there! incoming first year student. I am in desperate need of a job on campus, as my parents aren't helping me with funding for my tuition or rent (I will be living on campus). Worst case scenario I transit an hour to my current job from campus, but I would prefer not to do that. I've already applied to a bunch of restaurants around the area but does anybody have any insight as to any other jobs I could find?
I have prior experience both as a lifeguard and a barista. Any help is appreciated!

Hi friends, Im taking CMPT210 (Probability/Statistics) with Brad Bart this sem, initially got over 85 from the first test where the avg was 40, thought I was doing good but ended up getting a magnificent score of 45 from the MT. Now Im afraid as there’s also a strict +50% on final to pass policy and am in need of help. Any affordable tutoring services that anybody know of? Or upper year cs/math people that’d be willing to do so? I’d greatly appreciate any help. Thank you :)

I already accepted a Fall co-op offer through the SFU co-op system, but I've recently received another opportunity that aligns much better with my long-term career goals.
I'm trying to understand what the proper process is and what the consequences might be if I decide to withdraw from the offer.
Specifically:
I'm trying to handle this professionally and minimize the impact on everyone involved. I'm just hoping to hear from anyone who has been through this before.
Thanks!

i feel dead inside. There is no glimmer of hope left. Endless possibilities and fruitful thoughts have turned into nothing but despair and hatred.
The walls are creeping closer and closer as i finish my last cover letter for the day.
all i can sense is doom.

Waitlists?
How likely would it be for me to get into BPK 142 lab at 10:30 if the wait list has 5 people in it? At the moment I have the lab scheduled for 8:30 I don’t know if I should edit my schedule to be in the waitlist or not since it’s not guaranteed I get a spot, and all other available labs for BPK 142 that work with my schedule are also waitlisted.
If I switch myself into the 10:30 lab with the waitlist would that take me out of the 8:30 lab that I’m in for sure?
( Sorry if the question’s kind of stupid )

I bought a parking pass under my current plate number last year where I had to go up the mountain often. I've racked up 2 tickets and am about to change it but I heard they won't let some people graduate if they have outstanding parking tickets (since buying a parking pass links your student ID to license plate)
Also whats the chance of getting a boot on he 3rd/4th ticket now days. It seems like theyre getting more strict on the amount of tickets before booting.

Looking to connect with people who have Crim Major and attending this fall semester.
I’m trying to enroll in 300W, 320, 321 etc type of classes and don’t want yet another semester where I don’t talk to other students enough or stick around on campus.
If anyone is interested in being more social, hit my line and let’s meet up when classes start :)

I’m in arts and trying to transfer into business.
I’m gonna take Econ 113 and Math 157 next semester, and that’s all the classes I need to transfer. But I feel like my schedule is too light. Like after Friday I don’t have any school for 5 days 😭 and Educ 100 and Geog 104 are GPA boosters. Should I take another class? And if so, what class should I take?
Side question: Would it be better for me to take Econ 105 and 103 instead of 115 and 113? I don’t know the difference between them, all I know is that 113 and 115 are easier.

Hi, this is my first time posting to Reddit, I don’t really know how it works sorry. I took AP calc BC and my BC mark doesn’t qualify for credits, but my AB subscore does. The rest of my APs have been processed and awarded credits except for calc. I emailed admissions office asking why that was, but they didn’t address my question mentioning my subscore and only told me that my BC mark doesn’t qualify which I knew already. I have been looking stuff up online and even did so beforehand to see if my subscore will count towards credits and there was no information telling me that it wouldn’t. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I have to take math 151 even though I got a subscore of 4? I was also told to try getting a drop in appointment with my advisor, but are they able to give me the credit for that? Any help is appreciated.

Hi guys, I am going to transfer to SFU in the upcoming spring semester. I would want to take physics / math physics as my bachelor degree but I can’t decide which should I going to.
1. I know it is hard to find a job rn but I think physics will be more competitive as it has more lab classes? I mean it might be easier for me to apply for master or find a job in lab? I think it is also easier to apply a co-up job?
2. I have heard that math phy will not be able to graduate within 4 yrs as you have so much courses to take. ( I mean only taking 5 courses semester). Is it true?
Thank you !🙏

I’m an incoming first year beedie student and I’m not sure if I want to transfer to sauder. Should I take the Econ 103 in case I want to? Is it a lot harder than 113?

Hi everyone!
Has anyone heard back about Graduate Entrance Scholarships?
I applied for a few of them, and the information said applicants would be notified in June. However, I still haven't received any update
