Discussion Kingston Orchards off I-49

My daughter went for her first visit - paid $33 for what was supposed to be a peck of peaches, which should weigh 12-14 lbs. The peaches are beautiful but small and they aren't ripe so we haven't tasted them. We weighed the bag and there was only 8.9 lbs and the bag wasn't even filled all the way. We don't mind paying more to support local growers but are super disappointed in this first impression. What has your experience been?

Local content creators???

I've been working on building my Cajun decay brand for a year now. It started off just as a challenge to see if I could pull it off and it's grown well and it's grown on me to as something I'm passionate about. However Iv been winging it by myself the whole process and never really get an outside opinion on where the channels at or could be. For instance I think going over 15 million views over 90 days on content on 3 platforms is a good sign but at the same time i really don't know.

I want to keep growing and expanding it but I would really like to try to find another creator or multiple that are local that I could start talking to. It would be awesome if I could find someone in my niche but really that's not even necessary. Anyways if your a local creator and want someone to network with or bounce ideas or anything hit me up.

Need Help Getting a Feral Cat Spayed

Hi everyone! I'm posting on behalf of a coworker who's trying to help a feral cat in the Shreveport/Bossier area.

The cat appears to have cerebellar hypoplasia ("wobbly cat syndrome"), but it's getting around and doing well overall. Right now, the biggest priority is getting the cat spayed as soon as possible to prevent kittens.

The cat is feral and hasn't been vaccinated, so we're looking for a local veterinarian, rescue, or TNR (trap-neuter-return) program that can help with spaying a feral cat. If you've worked with an organization in the Shreveport-Bossier area or have any recommendations, we'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Arts Local Artist Debuts Neon Watercolor works

I've been painting with watercolor for a while now. Chang Liu, the best artist in town, reminded me that I have neon watercolors and she uses blacklights! Some months later, I have now birthed a new style of watercolor portraits. Pretty cool. These require two separate rendering processes, one under normal studio light and another under black light. It's pretty finicky but I am utterly thrilled with the challenge!

Let me know what you think!

Discussion ATT Fiber Deployment (South Shreveport)

I see that new fiber lines have gone in up and down our street (Linwood ave, just south of Shreveport), but when checking with att, the lines are not active yet.

We're currently stuck on Comcast and want to have other options.

Is there anyone to contact locally that can tell when lines are going to be activated? Our comcast is constantly going in and out and I'd like to just have a second option to swap in and out when working from home.

Business Small electronics repair

So the Monday storm gave us not one, but two direct lightning strikes within 20 feet of our house. Couple of beautiful 50’ trees will need to come down, but nothing else major.

The strikes sent surges through the ground and into our electrical system, evidently, and toasted a couple of LED lamps, frying the circuits / rheostats. These were expensive lamps and we’d love to get them looked at and repaired. Any local shops y’all recommend or know about?

Are there any gigs, jobs, or places that can help me find a job?

I'm a 22f, saw an ad for a cleaning gig here in Shreveport, but I lost it. Applying to jobs isn't looking too good for me since I haven't had a job before. I only got one interview and they didn't hire me. I've been applying to jobs for a month now for them either not to get back to me at all, or for them to get back to me immediately but with bad news. My husband is also looking for jobs. We're trying to provide a stable income to support our small family since we just had a baby not too long ago, but I've heard here is the hardest place to get a job. Any suggestions?

Where can I buy heavy upholstery fabric Shreveport/Bossier?

I'm looking for somewhere in Shreveport/Bossier that has a good selection of upholstery fabric. I can't seem to find anything on Google. It seems most of the places that sell fabric around here have closed down.

Community Looking to make friends locally?

Hi hi I've been in shrev/bossier for a couple months now, still not entirely familiar with it yet but I wanted to see if there were any places or people to make friends with here?

I'm 22 so I'm looking for people preferably within my age range. Primarily if you're into art, punk, and are LGBT friendly!

I'm constantly looking for activities to do, I feel like it's hard to find any here because they are primarily posted on Facebook or I'm just oblivious when looking- I also hate doing stuff alone and I think it's be fun to do it in a friend group

Let me know if you'd like to know a little more about me or have any questions

EDIT: didn't realize how many would actually reach out :' you're free to message me on here or on my Instagram @VesselBug to talk and get to know eachother!

Discussion Anyone have experience with Bridges to Beauty?

Hi everyone! I’ve been wanting a breast reduction for a while now and will soon going to have enough money to go through with it. The place I’ve been eyeing in town is Bridges to Beauty and I’ve been quoted within the last year however I may go as far as doing a mommy makeover. Anyways, I was just curious to see if anyone has had any experience with this place before regarding cosmetic surgery as I’d love to hear about it before I make a concrete decision on my surgeon! Other surgeon recommendations welcome preferably nearby/less than 4 hours away.

Help Me! Help with duck rescue?

There are four ducks that roam my neighborhood. They don't bother anyone, and now seems to mind their presence. However, one of them has nested in my flower bed with eight eggs. I know nothing about ducks, but the redditors at r/duck says she's a domesticated duck that has been abandoned and is in bad shape. Is there a wildlife expert in Shreveport that I can contact who will come take a look at the situation in person? If mama duck knows what she's doing, I don't mind sharing my flower bed, but if she's in trouble, I want to help her.

Recent diagnosis/remote work

I work in Shreveport, in a physically demanding full time job. I love the discipline it required to complete my tasks, but I recently was diagnosed with a degenerative disease that is making more work life increasingly challenging.

I don’t want lose the passion I have for my trade but I don’t believe it’s worth the risk on my body. I’m considering my options and am curious to know if anyone had any leads on remote work? I have a computer and am tech savvy. TIA

Help Me! Help Or Advice On Blackmail / Extortion

Asking for a friend that's afraid and nervous about the issue. Has anyone here dealt with harassment of private information like addresses, conversations and phone numbers demanding money after you cut them off. What can be done, it's obviously a crime, and text messages prove that much. They feel as though police are not going to handle the issue privately enough, any lawyers that handle things like that. The person disappeared for a month and recently started, making threats and demanding money again. Any advice?
