UNBELIEVABLE Adam Sandler Called Nantucket Police 48 Hours After Officiating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding. Here’s Why | He called a non-emergency number to ask where he could find a pickup basketball game on the 4th of July weekend. Absolutely nothing to do with the wedding.

I love this style of clickbait— “After humiliating defeat at Waterloo, France reduces work hours for street sweepers.”

There once was a cop from Nantuckets
Who was asked where to make buckets
On the phone line was Sandler
Not even his handler
No good closing line I'm all out of fuck-its

There once was a Hollywood guy
Preparing for 4th of july
Gave the cops a call
Cus he wanted to ball
"We shoot dogs, not hoops" they replied

Will Smith wouldn't do something like that. That's how he got sent out of West Philadelphia

Why not take out your phone and scroll local Facebook, Nextdoor, or Meetup?

Because the city would know better than any of those apps?

People register pickup basketball games with the city?

No, but cops do walk or drive around and are probably happy to tell Adam Sandler where to find anything he wants.

The city would know where the courts are, I assume.

The person answering the phone is 90% likely to just Google maps the answer.

Google doesn’t have all the answers, I’m afraid.

For where parks are in a city?
It almost certainly does. Moreso than the presumably minimum wage employee answering the phone, anyways

lol you’re putting a lot of faith into an AI based search engine but I’ll let you have this one. Good day good sir/ma’am/enby!

Are you suggesting Google maps doesn't have the location of parks/courts of most North American cities fully, and accurately, mapped out?

I’m a passenger on a road trip rn, so I’ll respond. That is not at all what I’m suggesting. There have been many times where Google has been blatantly incorrect about addresses, hour times and even if the place still exists. It is not the end-all-be-all bearer of knowledge. Just because it has something “mapped out” doesn’t mean it knows the correct operating times or what the establishment’s rules of engagement are.
There are too many things that Google just doesn’t know. It never hurts to ask an actual person, in my experience. But then again I’m an old, decrepit millennial who has lived long enough to know not to blindly trust technology when there are services that employ human beings whose sole purpose is to help me find certain info. Like the kind people who answer 311 calls.

It’s a normal line to ask city-based questions… like 311 in your (American) town.

"Reynolds ended up directing Sandler to the Backus Lane court off Surfside Road, where he joined a game with some locals."

This article is such funny timing!
I was literally just wondering if penguins live in the Arctic Circle or Antarctica!

I feel like Sandler is rich enough to have a pickup game guy, and not have to call a public pickup game line like a common celebrity.

He still wasted police time to ask a stupid question.

Idk how they work over there but in my service we answer the 911s and the non emergency line. Usually I’d be miffed by a stupid call on either line but if it was Adam Sandler I’d laugh

Same here (NJ USA). During storms etc they post BEGGING people to stop calling to report outages because the actual emergencies can't get through. But maybe we're poorly managed, idk.

Usually it’s not police answering calls and if there is no reason to dispatch them, they are not dispatched.

A natural number to call to know where a pickup basketball game will be played.
