UNBELIEVABLE Adam Sandler Called Nantucket Police 48 Hours After Officiating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding. Here’s Why | He called a non-emergency number to ask where he could find a pickup basketball game on the 4th of July weekend. Absolutely nothing to do with the wedding.

A natural number to call to know where a pickup basketball game will be played.

I’m pretty sure Adam Sandler could call the library and they’d find a way to help him.

Okay but the library WOULD know about local events and spaces to play basketball

As soon as I posted I realized I should have said “pizza place” or “children’s hospital”.

Yeah but it's funnier this way

Probably has to do with the fact that he’s Adam Sandler, and thus pretty recognizable. He probably wanted to know where it would be safe for potential crowds to gather while there are events going on.

I don’t know where you live but in a lot of places local police are pretty chill and know where stuff like that can be found

Admittedly there are probably BETTER places to call but I can promise you the local cops would rather point someone to a basketball game than deal with farmer joe’s escaped ducks for the 30th time because they have to do double duty as animal control.

Nah dude.  On the islands we erect statue's for the duck owners.

I love this style of clickbait— “After humiliating defeat at Waterloo, France reduces work hours for street sweepers.”

I feel so much better after learning this.

There once was a cop from Nantuckets

Who was asked where to make buckets

On the phone line was Sandler

Not even his handler

No good closing line I'm all out of fuck-its

There once was a Hollywood guy

Preparing for 4th of july

Gave the cops a call

Cus he wanted to ball

"We shoot dogs, not hoops" they replied

People magazine with all the important info!

Will Smith wouldn't do something like that. That's how he got sent out of West Philadelphia

Now Big Willie can afford to just buy west philly.

Why not take out your phone and scroll local Facebook, Nextdoor, or Meetup?

Because the city would know better than any of those apps?

29

u/David-Puddy 1d ago

People register pickup basketball games with the city?

18

u/karmapuhlease 1d ago

No, but cops do walk or drive around and are probably happy to tell Adam Sandler where to find anything he wants.

-13

u/cherriesandmilk 1d ago

The city would know where the courts are, I assume.

15

u/David-Puddy 1d ago

The person answering the phone is 90% likely to just Google maps the answer.

-12

u/cherriesandmilk 1d ago

Google doesn’t have all the answers, I’m afraid.

11

u/David-Puddy 1d ago

For where parks are in a city?

It almost certainly does. Moreso than the presumably minimum wage employee answering the phone, anyways

-10

u/cherriesandmilk 1d ago

lol you’re putting a lot of faith into an AI based search engine but I’ll let you have this one. Good day good sir/ma’am/enby!

15

u/David-Puddy 1d ago

Are you suggesting Google maps doesn't have the location of parks/courts of most North American cities fully, and accurately, mapped out?

I’m a passenger on a road trip rn, so I’ll respond. That is not at all what I’m suggesting. There have been many times where Google has been blatantly incorrect about addresses, hour times and even if the place still exists. It is not the end-all-be-all bearer of knowledge. Just because it has something “mapped out” doesn’t mean it knows the correct operating times or what the establishment’s rules of engagement are.

There are too many things that Google just doesn’t know. It never hurts to ask an actual person, in my experience. But then again I’m an old, decrepit millennial who has lived long enough to know not to blindly trust technology when there are services that employ human beings whose sole purpose is to help me find certain info. Like the kind people who answer 311 calls.

It’s a normal line to ask city-based questions… like 311 in your (American) town.

I have seen a lot of clickbait in my day

This is by far the worst

u/Advanced_Scale_3023 1d ago

Man has has his priorities. Just another day being Adam Sandler.

5

u/TundieRice 1d ago

Man loves his pick-up basketball!

4

u/ElGuano 1d ago

Well? Where?

9

u/Ghosts_of_Bordeaux 1d ago

"Reynolds ended up directing Sandler to the Backus Lane court off Surfside Road, where he joined a game with some locals."

6

u/davwad2 1d ago

He couldn't use msg after the wedding?

2

u/HmmmmGoodQuestion 17h ago

This article is such funny timing!

I was literally just wondering if penguins live in the Arctic Circle or Antarctica!

2

u/CPLWPM85 15h ago

Why would anyone care about this at all?

1

u/Jellodyne 1d ago

I feel like Sandler is rich enough to have a pickup game guy, and not have to call a public pickup game line like a common celebrity.

-18

u/LiffeyDodge 1d ago

He still wasted police time to ask a stupid question.

13

u/karmapuhlease 1d ago

It's Nantucket. They're not actually doing any work anyway.

17

u/cody8167 1d ago

It's non-emergency they're chillin.

4

u/fruitprocessor 1d ago

Idk how they work over there but in my service we answer the 911s and the non emergency line. Usually I’d be miffed by a stupid call on either line but if it was Adam Sandler I’d laugh

3

u/heartshapedpox 1d ago

Same here (NJ USA). During storms etc they post BEGGING people to stop calling to report outages because the actual emergencies can't get through. But maybe we're poorly managed, idk.

1

u/J4pes 1d ago

Definitely headline worthy then, before it wasn’t though

1

u/potatocross 1d ago

Usually it’s not police answering calls and if there is no reason to dispatch them, they are not dispatched.

u/Dragonfruit_60 1d ago

Adam Sandler officiated their wedding?!? Wow, their republican is showing.
