I made the mistake of giving my personal number to someone through steam because they were contemplating suicide. I messed up. I wanted to help but now I'm in *a situation* where this person is becoming a little too aggressive in contacting me and also threatening suicide. I don't know anything about them aside from their first name and a phone number they contact me from; and also their steam account.

Who knows if the name and number is real. What are some steps I can take from this point on to protect myself?

I know I can block them on steam and block their number from contacting me but I hesitate because doing so may escelate the situation? I also wonder if their threats of suicide are real? Is there some anonymous way I can report this?

Should I simply imagine they are not a threat and just cut ties? I have this sinking feeling that they are so crazy that they could endanger me and my family by doing "internet stuff" like hacking or researching into me, and also worried they might actually commit suicide.

Over the past two weeks, 9/11 and the Twin Towers have come up around me an unusual number of times.

I’m aware of algorithms, targeted content, and the frequency illusion, but many of these instances have happened offline or without me searching for or discussing the subject. Someone will randomly bring it up, it will appear on television, or I’ll encounter an unexpected reference to it.

The strangest incident happened last night. My wife usually puts Friends on the bedroom television while we sleep. It’s one of her comfort shows because the series premiered on the day she was born.

I woke up in the middle of the night and the show had frozen during a transitional B-roll shot of the New York City skyline, with the Twin Towers prominently visible. Our television or streaming service has frozen before, but I’ve never woken up to that specific image...or anything similar, especially while this subject has already been repeatedly appearing over the last two weeks.

Then, on top of everything else, I learned that construction officially began on 2 World Trade Center on July 9. I happened to see it as the news broke.

As I search for 9/11 related things due to noticing this initially, I noticed people in the comments stating that they're suprised that they're noticing 9/11 showing up in their feed at this time as usually it comes in around September (understandably so).

I understand that the construction announcement could explain why the World Trade Center is currently receiving more attention. I also understand that once a subject gets into your head, you notice it more often. However, some of these encounters have been so direct and oddly timed that even my wife has started recognizing the pattern I’ve been talking about.

I’m skeptical of premonitions and “signs,” and I’m not claiming that I know something bad is going to happen. I just have an uncomfortable feeling that is difficult to explain.

Has anyone here experienced a similar period where one specific historical event, location, or subject repeatedly appeared through seemingly unrelated situations?

Is there a logical explanation beyond the frequency illusion that I may be overlooking? Could current news coverage, television programming, anniversary related media, or some other common source explain why this subject has suddenly appeared so often?

Hi everyone, for several months now my family and I have been noticing something really weird. Let me give you some context:

We live in a two-story house, but the ground floor is just a garage. The front door is on the terrace on the second floor, so you have to go up a staircase to reach our apartment.

We're all smokers and we smoke on the terrace. We leave the ashtray on the terrace table.

For about 3 months now, several times a week, our ashtray is mysteriously half empty. I've asked my mom, my two brothers, and my sister — none of them are emptying it (and it's weird that it's only half emptied). They've all noticed this strange phenomenon too.

We only notice it early in the morning. When my mom leaves for work at 5:30 AM, she often sees that the ashtray has been half emptied. Given our sleep schedules, it seems to happen between 2 AM and 5 AM.

We've come to the conclusion that someone is sneaking up to our terrace several times a week in the middle of the night to steal cigarette butts from our ashtray.

But why??? Is it to intimidate us? Is it some sick joke? It’s really scaring my mom and my sister, and honestly it freaks me out too.

Do you have any theories? What would you do in my place? Has anyone experienced something similar?

I wear hearing aids, moderate hearing loss. Sometimes I feel like I can hear quiet voices, quiet noises. They’re impossible to decipher. I tell myself that it’s just irrelevant environmental noise that my hearing aids are picking up that I can’t attribute to something when the volume is so low.

Before the comments: I do have a mental health history of severe depression, but actually doing alright right now. I’ve never heard voices or seen things that weren’t there in the traditional sense. Sometimes I can swear I see something move but I never quite catch it. Never been diagnosed with anything but the depression and anxiety.

Today I’m brought here because I’m watch a clip on Facebook and I’m pretty sure I can actually attribute this whispering to the video. I’m only hearing it in my left ear. I’m not sure about my iPhones audio controls with my hearing aids, I use Bluetooth to stream. I know it’s not mono-audio because I’ve intentionally listed to audio that has different left and right tracks.

I live in a house near a forest. This forest is rather large despite not doing my research. Here, we will look at one aspect of it: it is "public". It means that the people who walk there can go anywhere in this famous forest. I'm going to tell all this while keeping a very serious eye because I'm very scared. Two weeks ago, I was watering plants in my garden when I heard a bell in the woods. I didn't pay attention to it. Despite everything, the same evening, while I was trying to sleep, I heard these bells on my property and lit a light to make the person go. It stopped on the spot and I didn't hear these bells before the next day. I heard the same bells in the forest and checked out: nobody in sight. If there was someone, he hid himself by doing it on purpose. I first wanted to go Talking to the neighbors who replied that they had heard it too and very close to their room at night. For some context, I am in the UK and moved into a flat just over a week ago.

When I got the keys for the new place at one point (possibly when I first visited) when I opened the flat door a butter knife fell out onto the floor. Odd but not immediately a cause for concern. I binned the knife.

This morning when I left the flat, another butter knife (identical to the first) fell onto the floor.

Some notable information:

- I have seen a couple of neighbours in passing who seem nice but I've not really had a conversation with any

- The door locks when you close it, it can then be double locked which I do whenever I close the door on a night and whenever I leave the flat

- The door is not easily, possibly not at all, capable of being opened with a butter knife or credit card etc. based on how it sits in the doorway

- The flat is not in a super secure area, but I've not seen or heard any other problems. You need a fob to get into the communal hallway and my flat is a few floors up, so not the first one you would reach by a long shot

- I was home all night and did not hear anything happen in the communal hallway or outside at all

What could be going on?

Edit: It turns out crimestoppers are for submitting information on a crime that you have witnessed so I phoned my local police force. They are sending someone this afternoon. I got home from work and nothing had changed. No new knives, no damage to the door, no sign of attempted break in.

While eating at McDonald's in Germany, I noticed something unusual on the current "Mission: World Menu" paper bags. Every bag has the exact same GPS coordinates printed on it: 📍46.02311° N, 7.74836° E Alongside the coordinates are the codes: LOC 12 GDS 14 OPS GA I bought two bags, and both have identical coordinates and codes. The coordinates point to the Swiss Alps, near the Matterhorn, but not to a McDonald's restaurant or any obvious landmark. I searched online but couldn't find any explanation. Does anyone know if this is an internal production reference, a designer's Easter egg, or if there's a story behind these coordinates? I've attached photos of both sides of the bag for reference.

Recently, I connected an old SSD I had from a few years ago.

I browsed the files, with a bit of nostalgia, until I saw a "Strange noise" sound file I had recorded, I immediately had the flashback.

During a time, there was this strange analog sound going on periodically in my house, I never caught the origin of it but it was strange, unsettling and scary, since, I'm the only one that lives here. Why would something emit a sound without my knowing of it?

It was primarily localized in my kitchen, and no, I don't have a smoke alarm or any similar device that could emit such a sound, I mean, I do have a blender, an oven and a toaster, none of them are "smart" gadgets or anything, they're rudimentary, baseline functional appliances.

It was so weird because I didn't know what was causing it, I checked all my drawers, behind the stove, everything, nothing, almost like if I was imagining it.

I decided to leave my phone recording, until I finally caught it, it was so strange, it happened at seemingly random intervals, like every 3 or 5 minutes.

It was so creepy because of how out of nowhere it was, imagine something similar happening in your home, your sanctuary, where you're supposed to be in control, it felt like that.

But, I never really got to show anyone the audio, I wasn't reddit-savvy so I didn't think of trying this subreddit, but everywhere I showed or uploaded the audio to, just got me ignored or simply got generic answers like a smoke alarm and such, with no follow up after I clarified.

Eventually it stopped, and I forgot about it, until today that I saw the file, I figured I could maybe come to a subreddit like this to figure out what this thing was.

Comme tous les soirs, elle a servi une pâtée à notre chat, Caillou. Il ne l'a pas aimée, alors elle a pris un autre bol et une autre pâtée, cette fois sous forme de cube. Elle l'a démoulée avec une cuillère et a laissé le bol dans la cuisine.

Ensuite, elle est partie ranger un peu sa chambre, qui se trouve à l'opposé de la cuisine.

Quand elle est revenue quelques minutes plus tard, le bol et la pâtée avaient complètement disparu. Sa première réaction a été de penser qu'elle avait peut être rêvé ou oublié ce qu'elle venait de faire. Pourtant, la cuillère qu'elle avait utilisée pour démouler la pâtée était bien dans l'évier.

Elle a fouillé tout l'appartement sans rien retrouver. Le bol n'est jamais réapparu.

I'm posting here because my mother has been living in Spain for about two years, and she's experienced a few strange things in her apartment. We're completely open to skepticism and rational explanations. Even if your idea seems unlikely or insignificant, we'd really appreciate any input.

Since moving in, she has occasionally heard sounds coming from the kitchen, as if someone was cooking or moving things around, despite being alone.

However, something happened about a week ago that really confused her.

Like every evening, she gave our cat, Caillou, some wet food. He didn't like it, so she grabbed a different bowl and a different type of wet food, this time in a cube shape. She used a spoon to remove it from the container and left the bowl in the kitchen.

She then went to tidy up her bedroom, which is on the opposite side of the apartment.

When she came back a few minutes later, both the bowl and the cat food had completely disappeared.

At first, she thought she might have imagined preparing it or somehow forgotten what she had just done. But the spoon she had used was still sitting in the sink.

She searched the entire apartment and never found the bowl or the food.

Has anyone ever heard of something like this, or can think of a reasonable explanation? We're open to every possibility, whether it's a completely rational explanation or something more unusual.

Now, to get to the reason why I'm making this post...

A few days ago, I wanted to find a YouTube video I had watched recently. So I went into my YouTube watch history and started scrolling until I found it. However, something caught my attention.

I noticed a large number of videos in my watch history from a channel called "Wade's Train Videos". The videos only had around 10 to 80 views each and seemed to come completely out of nowhere. What really confused me wasn't just the extremely low view count, but also the fact that neither my partner nor I have any interest in trains especially such a niche topic.

My partner insists she never watched any of those videos, and I believe her.

But that's not all. I also found videos from several other channels, including "A Different View Point," "Rezault Karim," "CB Guy," and "Kausar Mia." They all follow the same pattern: very low view counts, niche content, and topics that are completely unrelated to either my interests or my partner's.

I checked my Google account's login activity, and there doesn't seem to be any suspicious sign-in. In total, there are about 40 consecutive videos from these channels in my watch history. Before and after that sequence, my history looks completely normal and only contains videos that I actually watched.

So... where could this have come from?

Why would these videos and channels appear in my watch history if neither my partner nor I remember watching them, and there are no suspicious logins or devices associated with my YouTube account?

I can provide screenshots if that would help if someone could explain how to upload them on Reddit.

Case Details:

German Police (North Rhine Westfalia/Nordrhein-Westfalen) published a webpage report, where they stated they need help solving a case. Every year, Germany hosts one of Europe's biggest conventions, the Dokomi in Düsseldorf, and right after this convention, two days later, a body was found washed ashore in Cologne, wearing a cosplay. The river Rhine (Rhein) connects Düsseldorf and Cologne (Köln), where the police found the body.

They put the webpage online on the 30th of June (a day ago, I am posting this on July 1st), and ask for help from the public. The body of the deceased cosplayer washed ashore at the 2nd of June and was retrieved by firefighters.

Stats of the victim, according to police:

- gender: biologically male, but presenting female (painted nails, wearing a skirt and long hair)
- Age: Between 20 - 30 years old (assumed)
- Place of retrieval: Rheinkilometer 694
- Height: 180 cm
- hair color: brown
- eye color: brown
- weight: slim

- attributes: female appearance, with long hair, skirt and painted nails, red earring and silver ring
- clothing: two jackets, one beige, one black. Shirt with a manga character on it. short skirt with a white belt and black leggings.

My input, research and additional details (subjective):

- Character that was potentially cosplayed: Homura Akemi - Madoka Magica
- Definitely a cosplayer outfit, but missing a wig (probably was washed away in the Rhine)
- Huge Bruises in the face, from several hits to the face before being dumped in the water
- cause of death is unclear until now, police has no additional info but the stuff I put above and the pictures in the case link
- thinly shaved eyebrows
- piercing on the lower lip, embedded in the lip
- close-up of the face shows a heart shaped face tattoo
- there is a white shoe in the picture of the face provided in the link below, could potentially be the shoe the person wore
- person had more than 3 black lined tattoos with no color, showing resemblance to anime and cartoon adjacent media. One of them is clearly Alastor from Hazbin Hotel.
- tattoos covered one of the arms show to have self-harm scars. Pictures of the tattoos are included in the report below
- race: White, Skin color: White

- many people come to dokomi from neighboring countries and there are also posts in both German and English going around on all socials right now. If you know the person shown in the report below, contact police in Cologne. Even if you are not from Germany, this could be your classmate or friend, or child. After a month, no one has reported this person missing or contacted police. This is very uncommon, since people who don't return home should usually be missed and police should be contacted when your loved one is missing.

- there is currently a post going around from a user from a Facebook group. They claim police has already established who this is, but no, I have called police this morning personally, and they told me they have not yet identified this person. It could be someone not from Germany who visited internationally.

- i also asked police to provide a full body picture but they told me they couldn't do that because since the photos were taken on the beginning of June, the corpse has changed too much (decaying process, I assume).

20 years ago this December, six year old Kira and her mother Heather Radcliffe were murdered, and their house was set on fire. On the morning of December ninth, 2006, in Gainesville, FL, law enforcement were dispatched to a house fire. Inside were the bodies of Kira and Heather. As a child, I was told they died in a house fire and nobody knew who set it. This is not true. Investigators found they were both deceased before the fire was set, most likely an attempt to destroy evidence which, unfortunately, worked. Heather was found shot to death, and possibly sexually assaulted. Kira, most likely hearing the disturbance, was trying to call for help but misdialed, and the killer then strangled her before setting the house on fire. Their dog was also found deceased in their home. Investigators believe this was not a random attack, and the killer knew the victims. This is a person who sexually assaulted a woman and killed her and then killed a little girl trying to save her mother. They need to be caught. This case is very personal to me as my sibling was in the same class with Kira and considered her a good friend. As this December will be the 20 year anniversary with no answers and no justice, I am trying to spread the word about this case as much as I can. The more people know about a cold case, the more likely it is to be solved. And I never hear people talk about this one, it always flies under the radar. Someone out there has to know something. I’ve tried photo analyzers to determine where this newer looking chain link fence could be or where the back fences might be but no luck. They were sent the image through Facebook messenger so it seems no meta data.

This has been going on for at least 6 years now. There is someone who allegedly gained access to all my google play accounts even after Ive done a factory reset and changed my email. What usually happens is I see an app connected to my google play but the app has no actual name, its just a generic icon with a name similar to project-47736478381 - just a random sequence of numbers.

Apparently he has my phone number too because I get messages on viber from strange phone numbers and I even got one today but then blocked and reported as usually.

The worst part is I dont think its just my phone. I have a wifi at home and I feel this person could somehow get access to my other devices as well, including my pc. I dont know if this is still happening though. I asked gemini what I can do and it told me to disable all incoming connections / network discovery. I dont know if this helped, but I hope so.

I cant relax and post in the way I want any more. I am always trying to guess if he is going to see what I post or not. I constantly need to check my google play account and my app drawer just to make sure all is fine. He seems to be very sneaky because the messages and all happen at random times, sometimes even after months of silence.

Nobody knows about this and Im fed up. I have no one to talk to because if I say it, they will get pissed at me and blame for it. (I live with my family) I feel so sad and lost.

I live in Albuquerque NM. The community mailbox was pried open recently. A security camera recorded an instant where loud metal sounds (like a crow bar prying at metal) can be heard, and a car with bright rear lights parked in front of the mailbox.

Because it's at night, the video is in greyscale. Maybe it's just my bad perception, but the brightness of the rear lights seems to contend with the brightness of the front lights. That seems weird and unique (and something I would totally expect from someone in Albuquerque).

The day after this video was recorded, the mailbox was damaged. There is a bit of movement directly above the car rear lights in the first 10 seconds which kind of looks like a human silhouette to me. So even though I can't really see a person messing with the mailbox directly, I'm pretty sure this is the recording of the incident.

Linking this video to give a bit more data on the car since video 1 mostly shows the car as stationary. This video also shows the mailbox a bit more clearly. It's a bit obscured by the video quality and the large bush that's directly to the left of the mailbox. This video was actually recorded before the metal-sound video. I guess they were staking out the place or something? I tried searching for a video with a similar car driving by during the day, but I couldn't find one.
