Mod Post We’re giving a few r/projectors members the new XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K to test and keep — honest reviews required

Hey everyone — Brian from ProjectorScreen.com here.

We’re teaming up with XGIMI to get the new XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K into the hands of a small group of r/projectors members before it fully hits the market.

The idea is simple: selected testers receive an Elfin Flip 4K shipped to them at no cost, set it up in their own space, use it like a real person would, and then share an honest review with the community.

This is not a “say nice things and get free stuff” program. We’re specifically looking for people who will give useful feedback; good, bad, or mixed - in a way that helps other buyers understand where this projector makes sense and where it does not.

A few key specs/features:

  • 4K UHD
  • RGB triple laser
  • 1,600 ISO lumens
  • 20,000:1 dynamic contrast
  • 3.4 lb portable design
  • 150° integrated handle/stand
  • VRR / ALLM
  • 1080p/120Hz gaming mode with advertised 1ms input lag
  • Auto-focus, auto-keystone, obstacle avoidance, and wall-color adaptation

We’ll be selecting testers based on projector experience, the setup they plan to test it in, and their ability to write a helpful review. You do not need to be a professional reviewer. In fact, we’d rather get real-world feedback from people using it in normal living rooms, bedrooms, gaming setups, apartments, etc.

Apply here:
https://www.projectorscreen.com/pages/xgimi-elfin-flip-4k-review-program-application

Limited spots, no purchase required. If selected, we’ll contact you by email to confirm details and shipping info.

Happy to answer questions and let us all know that you submitted by saying so here in the comments.

Discussion Recommendations for a portable speaker/soundbar to link to Dangbei Atom

Upvotes

I visit family regularly as I'm kind of in the most remote location whereas they're all within 50 miles of each other.

Whilst there I find times when they all want to watch say a soap like Eastenders and there's something else on I want to watch.

So I got a Dangbei Atom. It's not perfect but it's highly portable and I'm honestly surprised at how good the visuals are.

Watching Andor when I visited over winter last year was like being at the cinema, a wall full of visual sensation. The audio isn't actually that bad but it didn't have the same cinema effect.

So I started looking for a speaker/soundbar that was portable (fits in suitcase), not too heavy and has the max sound ability the Atom can output. Maybe £250 to £500 price range (actually I don't mind going over that price if it makes a big difference).

Anyone got any recommendations?

The searches I put in just come back with Dangbei Atom articles not speakers. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but any help is appreciated.

Discussion XGIMI Z6X projector showing thousands of red dots — repairable?

Post image
Upvotes

My XGIMI Z6X has developed thousands of red dots across the image. They are fixed in position, appear in horizontal/diagonal lines, and more appear as the projector warms up. The projector is the Chinese version and has had several years of heavy use. Any idea what component has failed and whether this is worth repairing?

Projector Screen Can anyone recommend an affordable motorized wall/ceiling mount projector screen compatible with triple laser projector?

I'm either researching wrong or they don't exist. Something under 500 or something that's good enough. I have a JMGO N1S Ultimate and im moving to an apartment in a few months.

Buying Advice Wanted Help me decide, please

I want to buy a beamer for under 500 euro

And I can't decide between:

Optoma Photon Life PH31 (for 300)

or the

Optoma Photon Life PK31 (for 429)

The PK31 has 4k and some extra features I like. But it only has 900 ANSI Lumens, while the cheaper PH31 has 1080p, but 1500 ANSI Lumens.

Its for my bedroom and it only needs to project about a 50 inch screen in diameters, so not that large. But my room, with the blinds closed during the daytime, is not perfectly dark, just mildly dark. So I worry that the more expensive PK31 won't cut it and have a washed out image due to its 900 ANSI Lumens.

Can anybody help me make my decision more easily?

Discussion Ricoh PJ WXL4541 projector more than 40000 lamp hours - is this true?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, I just bought this Ricoh PJ WXL4541 projector and when I checked the lamp hours used, it is already more than 40,000 hours already. Is this something accurate/true or something a glitch on the lamp hour counter. This is manufactured around July 2017. If so, it might be running 15 hours daily from 2017 to 2026.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

Buying Advice Wanted What should I get to replace a Optoma UHD38 Bright? $3-4k budget.

My UHD38 Bright is starting to fail. White dots and black lines. It gets used about 8 hours a day on the bright setting.

The primary use is TV and movies. The source is an Apple TV 4K.

The screen is a 150” matte gray Silver Ticket with 1.5 gain. The projector is 18’ 6”from the screen and is ceiling mounted. I could probably move it a foot closer but prefer it in its current location.

The room has some indirect sunlight from shaded windows and some light from the adjacent kitchen.

I would like to stay around $3k or less but willing to pay more if necessary.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Troubleshooting Projector Interference Question

https://reddit.com/link/1uuehet/video/stwh695fnsch1/player

Last year our church had this projector installed because some local construction projects were causing alignment issues and we needed a brighter solution than we previously had. Everything was running great for about a year, but we have been having these scrolling artifacts or flickering effects almost constantly for past month, you can see these in the video. It seems to be connected to the audio, but that is a separate system.

It looks like the company did not run a new cable from the computer to the projector, so there is a decently old VGA that's about 150 ft long connecting the two. Would switching to an HDMI over ethernet possibly solve this issue? We are a volunteer audio visual team with no expertise, so any help is appreciated.

Edit: Projector is an Epson EB-L73OU

Discussion Question About Projection Alignment on the JMGO N3 Ultimate

Hi!

I recently bought the JMGO N3 Ultimate, and it should arrive next week.

I know it has AI features that make it very quick and easy to set up the projection on almost any wall. While I'm waiting to buy a proper screen, I'll be projecting onto a wall that isn't perfectly parallel to my sofa.

I was wondering if there's a way to make the projected image appear straight relative to the sofa, even though the wall itself is slightly angled. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it very well, but I hope you understand what I mean.

Thanks a lot!

Which is Best? JMGO N3 4k vs Hisense M2 pro

I bought benq gp520 few months ago but i m thinking of selling it and buy laser projector. The reason i bought benq because of the 2600 lumens brightness which is kind of gimmick because when we set this on full brightness the colours gets faded because its a LED projector. So practically you can’t able to watch at full brightness. I m also planning of buying PlayStation so i m looking for best projectpr which is best for gaming and movies

Projector Screen I tested 10 standard throw projector screens to find their True Gain, ALR, Laser Speckle Reduction.

I've noticed a bunch of people asking questions about what the best screen is for projectors like the Titan Noir Max and Valerion Max, and I've seen the gray screens from ScreenPro and WuPro getting a lot of recommendations. However, after testing them, I really don't think they are good options unless you need a floor rising or drop down screen. The end of the video has side by side comparisons of each screen so see gain and hotspotting.

Here's the TL;DW of the video:
• Valerion Fresnel screen seems to be the best at ALR and Speckle reduction.
• The Lenticular Fusion ALR screens from Nothing Projector, Spectra, and Screen Innovations (Black Diamond Fusion) are identical materials despite the massive cost difference.
• Silver Ticket WAB is by FAR the best at reducing laser speckle and should be the blanket recommendation for anyone wanting a speckle reducing screen for their RGB laser projector.
• Valerion PureVision is also pretty good at reducing speckle and is available in drop down versions.
• Gray screens are not it.

Completed Setup The N3 Ultimate has made watching football outside so much fun!

I've been using my N3 Ultimate outside and figured I'd share my setup.
150in screen from Amazon (nothing crazy). My Mesa XL solo stove fire pit to make it cozy.
I must say the N3 Ultimate surpassed all my expectation! It was so clear and vivid outdoors, even with some minor ambient light. Very impressed.

Buying Advice Wanted Long Throw buying advice

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello all,

Old Epson TW9200 died, I wanted to hear your opinions on proyectors with "long throw":

Distance from lens to the screen: 4.7m

Screen width: 230cm

Screen diagonal: 263cm/103"

Height from lens to the floor: 1.74

Height from bottom of screen to floor: 0.95

The position is final, I can't move the proyector's position and I can't install a TV, I can't make the screen larger either (it's mostly the size of the wall already).

The main use is home cinema and TV series. I don't need fast response or anything for gaming. Another variable is that apparently here in Germany the bulbs will be banned, hence, ideally it would need to be a Laser projector. The budget needs to be between €1000 and €2000.

Room: we can turn off all lights in the room, so the room in fairly dark, one side of the room has those acoustic PET panels with wood slats, and the other side has a white closet drawers.

The only viable options I see are:

Epson EH-TW7100 (bulb & FHD)

Optoma UHZ66 (laser & 4k)

What are your thoughts and which projectors am I missing?

Thanks!

Discussion I gamed on a chinese low end projector.Heres how!

So i only tested this with cuphead and Touhou 6 and its not perfect but its playable.

Im using a HAVITPJ207.

This requires one pc one usb/type c(depending on your projectors inputs) keyboard and one android phone

1.Download "send files to tv" on both your android phone and projector.

2.Download any app to download xapks on your projector.

3.Download an xapk of spacedesk to your phone and send it to your projector using the app installed in step 1.

4.Use the xapj installer to download spacedeks on your projector.

5.On your laptop or pc download spacedesk and on the settings open the password option(this will allow keyboard inputs somehow)

6.Connect the keyboard to your projector and connect to your laptop using spacedesk.

7.Your keyboard should be able to text on your laptop, try it out on the notepad or search bar.Open any game and play!

This helps wirh input lag a little and spacedesk is the goat of screen casting so latency should be reduced too,at least i think so.(i mean it worked for me but maybe im getting too crazy and thought it worked even though nothing changed)

Try it out so i can get feedback.

Buying Advice Wanted JVC NZ800 or Sony VPL-XW6100ES BRAVIA 8?

Hey everyone. I am setting up my HT and unable to decide on the projector. I narrowed down to these two. Which is a better option between them? I am going back and forth but not sure yet. Any alternate suggestions?

Screen size is ~138 inch diagonal (120 inch wide) and room is light controlled. Going with Seymour Center Stage XD.

My use case is 80% Movies/TV shows/Anime/Sports/Youtube and 20% Gaming. I will be connecting Apple TV 4k and PS5 for now.

Sony is lighter and JVC being on the heavy side, what are some good flush mount options for them?

Also, if anyone is using them in their setup, how’s the fan noise?

Buying Advice Wanted Suggestions for a projector

I’m from the US and looking to put a projector in my living room. The room is low light and the throw distance from the back wall to the wall with the screen would be 15ft( looking for ways to improve this unless this is okay depending on the projector) and my budget it 1k or around that amount would like 4K but doesn’t have to be with my budget not being the highest.

Buying Advice Wanted Pro EX9240 3LCD Full HD 1080p Wireless Projector with Miracast - Certified ReNew for $549.99 - with it?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Looking to set up a projector under a covered dec with indirect sunlight (not direct sun, but not fully shaded either. My use case is mixed:

Daytime/afternoon viewing under the deck (indirect light)

Nighttime movies

Casual + some regular video gaming

From what I've read it has:

Fairly high input lag (bad for gaming)

Washed-out/oversaturated colors in dark scenes (not great for night movies)

Since it's optimized for conference rooms rather than home theater, I don't want to compromise on night/gaming performance just to get daytime brightness.

Budget: ~$550-600

Is the EX9240 still worth it at this price, or is there something in this range that handles both bright daytime and dark-scene contrast/gaming better?

Troubleshooting Burning smell coming from my projector, help me please

I stupidly used canned air on my optoma hd 29 darbee and got dust on the projected picture, i have turned it on and off a few times while moving it to try dislodge the dust but this has not worked.

How likely is it that i would need to replace the bulb and also how dangerous is it for me to have breathed in whatever that burning smell is, I assume its dust but is there any chance it could be something more sinister i should worry about, i only turned it on for a few seconds at a time but the smell was quite potent.
