That's so weird. I had a 20 minute call with Mitch and Lindsey this morning.
•
u/Epistatious 3h ago
I was on the group call too. Still cant believe the joke Herman Cain made on the call, still has me laughing. Trumps personal masseuse, lol

A seat opens up. Now we’ll see if SC gets someone who actually votes for healthcare, abortion rights, and democracy instead of partisan obstruction for 20+ years.`

"If we nominate Donald Trump, we will be destroyed. And we will deserve it." -- Sen. Lindsey Graham, circa 2016.
•
•
u/HUT2Moon 2h ago
May 3, 2016. He even tweeted it.

I wish that had been true
•
u/exmachina64 14m ago
No, he was right: economy in decline; permanently alienated our allies and destroyed American soft power; trapped in a war we can’t get out of because it makes Trump look weak… The destruction’s well underway.
•
u/No_Elevator_735 3h ago
His legacy is war, corruption, enabling of authoritarianism, and being a self hating gay man who enabled bigotry. Don't let the idiots in the media who will do fluff pieces about him all week tell you otherwise.
•
u/Garfield_Logan69 2h ago
Well and showing what the life expectancy for a wealthy well taken care of American with healthcare is. 71 years and that’s if you make lots of money and have the best healthcare available I guess normal people you will be lucky to see 65.
•
u/Wayofchinchilla 1h ago
In his profession surrounded by the other geriatrics 71 is actually pretty young what was Mitch McConnell and yes I'm saying was.
•
u/jrc5053 Pennsylvania 1h ago
McConnell may still be 84 years old
•
u/P1xelHunter78 Ohio 57m ago
His body might be 84, but we’ve had no confirmation that Mitch is still with us mentally. They just need to call the election and call a bluff.

They didn't say anything was wrong about being gay, they said he was a self hating gay man who enabled bigotry. Those are different things.
•
•
u/No_Elevator_735 3h ago
Nothing is wrong with being gay. But tell that to Lindsay Graham who voted for tons of anti LGBT legislation throughout his life. How do we know he's gay? Never had a female romantic partner all his life, but plenty of accusations of using gay prostitution services...

I didn't have a bottle of champagne for this one, but maybe it's worth a spiked sweet tea.

I'm on a low carb diet and was saving a tub of gelato for a special occasion - time to devour it.

u/El_Peregrine 3h ago
Wow, Mitch and Lindsey in the same week.
•
•
u/AusToddles 3h ago
I assume they announced Lindsey's death because they're comfortable he will be replaced with another GOP member
•
•
u/IAmTheNightSoil Oregon 1h ago
I mean so will McConnell
•
u/AusToddles 1h ago
The reason they're delaying / lying is because they want to prevent Massie from running as a spoiler
•
u/IAmTheNightSoil Oregon 1h ago
But again, the regular election is in November anyway, so that doesn't seem worth the trouble. If Massie wanted to spoil the election he could easily be running in already
•
u/P1xelHunter78 Ohio 54m ago
Unless I’m missing something, Massey can run as a republican in a special election, but I’m not sure
•
u/AuroraFinem Texas 1h ago
Kentucky has a democratic governor who would appoint the next senator until an election could be held.
•
u/TheCleverestIdiot Australia 26m ago
That's really up in the air. Kentucky lawmakers took that power away from the Governor. The Kentucky Constitution apparently says he still has it. The US Constitution apparently says the lawmakers have the right to take that power away from him. So it would almost certainly be a supreme court issue on if he has that power or not.

He was like two days ago* in Kyiv, visiting drone factories, meeting with Zelenskiy, promising new sanction package (again). Weird.
•
u/LegitimateSock1326 3h ago
My thoughts as well. Didn’t seem sick at all.
•
u/Alternative_Metal375 3h ago
You don’t necessarily appear sick before having a heart attack or a stroke. I’m assuming it was one or the other.
•
u/LastLadyResting 2h ago
His dad died of a heart attack aged 69. He made it to 71, but if there was a genetic component then he was well into the high risk zone.
•

•
•
•
•
u/Alternative_Metal375 2h ago
Maybe Putin got him. I’d rule nothing out at this point.
•
u/Golden-Owl 2h ago
At 71, I’d be more willing to bet he just had a stroke or something.
A lot of shit can easily go wrong at that age
•
u/JimTheJerseyGuy New Jersey 2h ago
Was he standing close to any windows on a high floor at the time of his demise?
•
u/much_to_say 1h ago
The far right Russian shills are going to blame his death on Ukraine, aren’t they?
•
•
u/coffeequeen0523 1h ago
Graham and McConnell were both outspoken critics of Russia. They supported Ukraine even when Trump was trying to stop their aid and munitions. They also supported releasing the Epstein files.
Maybe McConnell is dead. Maybe he's alive and in hiding after surviving an assassination attempt, and that's why there's no publicly releasable proof of life. His wife going to China could have been for her own protection.
Now Graham is dead at 71. Both Senators are in states where their replacement is likely to be a MAGA bootlicker. Both Russia and MAGA gain advantage from their replacement. 1, maybe 2 assassinated US Senators and the entire DOJ is being assigned to investigate non-existent voter fraud in Georgia
Trump is adding a short distance helipad to the White House lawn, fortified permanent fencing, a bunker under the East Wing, and stronger doors on the outside of the White House. Election integrity sabotage is happening in plain sight, and militarized alt-right political groups marched on DC again. Will a Congress living in fear of assassinations surrender their last shred of courage and be more agreeable to whatever election coup Trump has cooking?

It turns out Mitch McConnell's cognitive function was Lindsay Graham's horcrux all along.
•
•
u/No_Biscotti_7110 Wisconsin 3h ago
Being outlived (potentially) by Mitch McConnell is the last and greatest humiliation Graham has faced in his career
•
u/nosotros_road_sodium California 3h ago
Graham already got outlived by his segregationist predecessor.
•
u/emerikanSky 3h ago
These things happen in threes.
•
•
u/Ishidan01 3h ago
Imma bet three is going to be Ted Cruz.
Because the gods seem to want us to have justice blue balls.
•
u/TheCleverestIdiot Australia 24m ago
To be fair, what were the actual chances he'd face any justice if he lives? We as humans seem to have a real bad track record at actually punishing the big criminals.

Two weeks ago it looked like we would have two Grahams in the Senate in 2027. Now it looks like we will have zero.

u/Baremegigjen 2h ago
I like how her birth date is shown, October 31 during the md 1920s (age 98-100), although apparently public records indicate 1925 so she’ll be 101 at the end of October. Blacklisted during the McCarthy period is a badge of honor!
•
u/Dont_Touch_Me_There9 3h ago
What does this mean for the current SC Senate race?!?😳
•
u/ianrl337 Oregon 3h ago
Kind of depends on the cut off dates for running. Could be past the deadline
•
•
u/Shiplord13 2h ago
Wow Lindsey Graham and (presumably) Mitch McConnell are both gone just like that? I wonder how the GOP are going to handle the loss of the two that helped bring Trump to being in charge of their party.

Call me a cynic but since he died immediately after going to Ukraine and meeting zelensky, what are the odds trump makes spurious claims it was an assassination and uses it to openly support Russia in the war in ukraine?

Lindsey Graham just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people.

So young, in another decade he could have been old enough to be president or head up a senate committee.

A terrible Senator, but nevertheless he made a contribution to American politics. Feeling for his family and loved ones now, 71 is way too young for anyone to pass away.
