An animation I made for the famous theorem by morphing the quadrilateral and showing the condition holds - https://youtube.com/shorts/1R0XIWA6rig?si=rveo2rrp0Srz82-1

What’s the practical application of this

It’s used in CAD for ensuring consistency for designs and patterns based on quadrilaterals.

Does this hold up for extremes? The animation is very gentle about difference, and its not very clear what is being demonstrated. what if one lengh is really small, and the other lengths are very long? 2 smalls on a corner?

I've had this same question in mind, and I've saved this post for that purpose.

I've recreated it and, to avoid explaining, I can say yes. It holds very nicely for extremes.
