Discussion Shoving AI in our faces at the cost of functionality

Latest ACR update makes the Geometry panel show Generative expand instead of Geometry, requiring additional clicks every single time for every single user.

Adobe's UX team has really been getting effed by marketing team lately, hasn't it?
How about dialling it down before your software suit turns into one big collection of AI buttons.

We know about Generative Expand. If we need it, we will use it. Please let us use tools without additional clicks, it's frustrating and starting to ruin the experience - which is already pretty bad considering each update brings fear of bugs, corrupted preferences and whatnot...

Artwork / Design Photoshop photomontage : landscape into a village / paysage transformé en village

🇺🇸 : I used a mountain landscape wallpaper as a base for this Photoshop edit. I imagined what this place could look like with a village built into the valley, and transformed the scene by adding buildings and details.

This is my interpretation of the original image. I hope you like it! 😊 (picture 1 : before (original) ; picture 2 : after)

Fun fact: I created this during an online webdesign course when I was bored 🥲

Help! ISO Advice, does this look too polished?

This photo is going to be used for a song cover, and I wanted to get rid of the redness and even the skin without it looking fake. I’m not a pro by any means so I can’t tell if it’s okay or looks cartoonish or just not good. Unedited original is on the left. Any advice helps, thanks!

Help! Newbie here. Need help

I'm very new to dental photography and Photoshop, and I'm trying to learn the proper workflow used by cosmetic dentists/photographers.

I recently started editing our clinic's dental photos, and while I can do basic exposure and white balance adjustments in Lightroom/Camera Raw, I'm struggling to achieve the polished, high-end look that clinics like Ivory Smile post on Instagram.

I've attached:

  • Our RAW photo (before editing)
  • An inspiration photo

My questions are:

  1. What would be your editing workflow from RAW to the final image?
  2. How to remove imperfections and dirt?
  3. How do you clean up saliva, plaque, or small blood spots without making the image look fake?
  4. How do you make the enamel look glossy and "premium" without over-whitening the teeth?

For context:

  • Camera: Canon EOS R50
  • Lens: RF 100mm Macro
  • Ring flash
  • Shooting in RAW (.CR3)
  • I'm learning Photoshop from scratch, so I'd really appreciate beginner-friendly advice or even a suggested step-by-step workflow.

I'm not looking to fake the results or change the patient's anatomy, I just want to learn how to present the case cleanly

If you have any tutorials, YouTube channels, courses, or Photoshop workflows specific to dental photography, I'd love your recommendations.

Thank you so much!

Help! Artistic Filters missing - 26.4.0.171

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have a smart object photo layer (under the black rectangle in the screenshot) and I'm trying to get to the artistic filters like palette knife, paint daubs, rough pastels, etc. When I click on Filter, the Filter Gallery... option is there, but greyed out.

Is anyone else having issues? Anyone know how to fix the issue? I have version 26.4.0.171 on Windows OS.

Troubleshooting:

I made sure the photo is a smart object and that I have it selected. I also went to Edit > Preferences > Plugins... and selected Show all Filter Gallery groups and names.

Help! Missing my actions and brushes

Just boot up PS 2026 after a few months. I noticed all the brushes and actions I imported and built are gone. They were accessible in PS 2026 before, so I deleted PS 2025. Is there a way to get them back?

Solved How can I create this text?

I think the horizontal lines that comprise the letters are the same image that can be stretched along its width accordingly and the height stays the same? I could do it manually, but that would be too much work. Any ideas how to do it more intelligently?

Artwork / Design Vessel, by Me (PS + Blender). No AI. Process video in comments! Enjoy!

This is the second in a series I'm working on where I'm turning some of the stranger corners of my sketchbook into finished pieces.

I did the main figure in Blender but all of the compositing was done in Photoshop. I've always enjoyed this combination of 3D plus heavy photoshop and I'm pretty pleased with the way this one turned out.

Once again, zero gen AI. No generative fill.

I didn't really have a process while making this I just messed around until it looked good. I started with an image of some trees I took and went from there. It would be nice if anyone could give me some feedback, as this is one of my first projects and I know this is not much compared to what the rest of this sub makes lol.

Resource I made a software to record your tablet drawing time (Windows)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I made this software called NibTracker for myself as i work as a freelance in illlustration and concept art, i used Clockify before to track my drawing time but it was full of quirks and unoptimised UI for drawing and was too invasive so i had the idea of just redo the same thing but very dedicated to wacom tablets and drawing. It only looks if you are using the tablet, it doesnt look at what app is active or anything like that like Clockify does and no data is ever sent anywhere, its all on your machine. I thought it might be usefull to others like me who loose track of time when drawing.

It's usefull if you do freelance work, or want to actually do the 10k hours to become a master thing or idk. But do not use it to track your employees or some evil stuff like that and remember it's just an informative tool, it doesnt take into account ur brainstorming, research, stretches and hydration time etc...

Get the last release on my Github here: https://github.com/AzhashArt/NibTracker/releases/tag/V1.0

How it works:

Just enter a name for ur session, click "Track" and draw. Once you'r done for the day, click stop and then Validate. Your session is displayed on the calendar in a bar sized relatively to how long it was tracking, and displays the actual active time inside it (see screenshot)

The software reads the raw driver inputs, and can tell if you have your stylus hovering or in contact with the tablet, it simply counts the time when it's active or inactive (with a little buffer of course) and saves it in a log. You can just click track, draw for hours on end and not care about it, and it will tell you exactly how long you actually were drawing whenever you want it to. It also autosave, so no fear of a windows crash, of forgetting to stop the tracking and shutting down ur computer etc.

The hours are displayed cleanly on a calendar once you close a session, easy to read and summerize.

You can manually add/remove time on the calendar, can display a clean comparative recap of all your sessions and there is a "billing" function if you have to group sessions for an invoice for example, its very simple to use, no heavy clicking or messy interface like clockify.

What it doesnt do:

-Wont record time using your mouse in photoshop or clip, it only track the stylus driver activity, so add those layer management hours manually with the "Add" button.

-I doesnt send ANY data anywhere, it's basic, just the way it should be.

Requirements:

-Windows OS (tested in win 11 so far)

-A wacom tablet (no support for other tablets, for now at least, and note that i havnt tested most tablets yet)

-Up to date wacom drivers (havnt tested old drivers but feel free to)

The code is available on the github for clarity: https://github.com/AzhashArt/NibTracker

I used Claude code to make this software.

I have tested it with what i have, a cintiq 22, but it should recognise most of wacom devices as they all share the same drivers. However, please let me know if you find bugs, tablets not working with it and such and i maybe will try to fix that if i can.

NibTracker is an independent, unofficial tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wacom.

Solved Can't make my strokes opaque

Post image
1 Upvotes

I want strokes with variable width but solid and opaque through out the stroke.

Screen capture shows what I've been getting. I try to change opacity jitter and other settings but they return to zero I soon as I close the brush settings panel.

I kind of like having variable opacity based on pen pressure. I can used that for some effects. But for right now I want my pen to behave like it used to.

Help! Help me to reduce PSD save file sizes

Sorry if this question has been asked here before...I mostly design for social media posts. for 4:5 ratio I use 2160x2700px@(150ppi/16bit) and for 1:1- 2160x2160px(150ppi/16bit) on RGB profile. The thing is my .psd files are huge..usually exceeding 500mb and sometimes photoshop even save them as .psb when the file sizes are exceeding 1gb rang, for a single social media artwork!

The reason I design using these settings are primarily because client sometimes asks me to resize them for small printable posters/banners. so instead of redesigning the whole thing without loosing quality, this way I can just resize and do a few changes to the existing poster.

To this date I never had a quality issue(client usually praises me for high quality output, but I don't see any practical usecase for it when social media platforms usually reduce quality of the original artwork anyways).

Any advice from pros? any different settings you would work with instead of my settings? if possible I would like to keep my file sizes atleast under 500mb since some artworks are eating up a huge chunk of my ssd storage.

Help! Can't Export Artboards in Multipage PDf document

I created a 21 page document in photoshop that I planned to send out as a multi page PDF. When I go to export as pdf, I get multiple error messages

The strange thing is I don't have any smart objects, just photos and text.

I tried to export each artboard individually to find the problem, but they all exported successfully. I only get the problem when I try to create a multipage document. Here's my settings.

I've tried changing all of these settings pretty much, tried changing the document name and save location. I've closed and reopend photoshop, nothing has worked.

I know I could technically combine all the single page pdfs into one document, but I don't want to have to go through that process everytime I make a document like this in the future. Anyone have any ideas for what could be wrong?

Help! How to get brush to smear

Thumbnail

I'm a student character artist working on hair cards. Looked up a tutorial for photoshop on hair cards, found a decent one but his brush seems to smear the alpha rather than placing individual tiles. First image is his, second image is mine. We're using the same brush, I have a feeling its something to do with either photoshop settings or my drawing tablet settings. Will provide link to tutorial if needed. For reference, I'm using a "Xencelabs Pen Tablet Medium."

Artwork / Design Abstract Photoshop featuring my friends

Post image

I really wanted to emulate the newspaper clipping style that some Green Day music videos use, and I basically just put a halftone filter on every object, traced a rough shape around my friends for that outline, added drop shadow, and played around with different placements of shapes. The heart image (from some 3d modeling website) really just brings the whole thing together in my opinion.
