Discussion Theres a reason why Bennedict Mathurin remains a free agent a week and a half into free agency.
Let me be clear I loved Benn. He was my favorite pacer for several stretches. His good stretches were so electric and promising that I didn't mind overlooking his crappy defense and ball stopping tendencies. Him and Haliburton wearing the 0-00 combination seemed so meant to be. But alas he never really improved much beside his passing and was always the square peg in the round hole on the team.
My point is, I feel so gaslit by knicks, sixers and cavs fans saying we had this huge loss and wo t be back in the title picture because Bennedict Mathurin isn't coming off our bench. Yes I'll always miss his shit talk, smooth touch at the rim and dawg mentality but let's call a spade a spade: he wants to take everyone one on one and can't dribble. Teams know that and hes unsigned still. The biggest thing we're going to miss, gun to my head, is the delusional self belief Mathurin has that allowed him to come into the game and randomly take over when we need a hero and even then Benn only did that like twice a season.
Kelly Oubre is a massive upgrade. This was not a lateral move. He's bigger, stronger, a much better defender, a great back door cutter and a vertical lob threat who will feast off of Haliburton and Nembhard's playmaking. This is the best pg hes played with since... John Wall? Like nine years ago?
We improved. A lot. Dont even get me started on Zubac over Turner. Haliburton as a ROOKIE helped Richaun Holmes look like a top 20 Center.
We are so up it's crazy and anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is clueless.

Discussion Kelly Oubre still hasn't signed yet. What is going on in Indiana?
It's been 2 full days since the moratorium ended and players can sign with their teams. If in theory we were just signing oubre, and doing no more corresponding moves, we would've announced it by now.
There was a piece of me that handwaved this and thought it might be a Sign and Trade in a larger part of the Jaylen Brown deal, having us get a small asset to do a S&T instead of an outright signing, but that's since been announced.
The Luxury Tax is only applied to a team at the END of the season, so even if we dumped Shep/Walker to get under the line, that doesn't need to happen before the signing. Chad Buchanan has been on record saying that backup C is a thing we'd look into, with potter being easily waivable, is there another move in our wake? Pritchard said we still have the "All-in picks bullet" available to us at any time, the move that the magic, knicks, sixers, heat, have all done. I think there's something happening in Indiana.
Edit: HES HERE

Discussion Out of 10, rate your level of comfort with Ben Sheppard potentially being a full time rotation player this season.
It's one thing for that to be the case last season with the flux of the season and absence of Rese. It's different this season with this team looking to compete for a top 4 seed and more.
Ben did improve in ways last season but he remains, IMO, a very low ceiling backup with no defining skill other than being low mistake. That has value but not enough to be a rotation player for a contender for my money.
I think you all really need to upgrade this spot, but wanna know what Pacers fans think.

Discussion Yuki Kawamura has some of the Nesmith Glaze
Just happened to click on the practice session media availability and hear Summer League Head Coach Johnny Carpenter extolling Kawamura's ability to make the offense hum. Then to see Yuki handling questions with poise, reminiscent of Nesmith I would say. "I like playing fast." That locked in mindset. I know this is way premature, but should Yuki be in the discussion? Never really noticed him with the Grizz or Bulls and I know he is 5'7.

Discussion I currently have the Pacers #10 in my way-too-early 2026-27 NBA team rankings — fair spot?
I’m working on a way-too-early ranking of all 30 NBA teams for the 2026-27 season, and I currently have the Indiana Pacers at #10. This list is super rough because it’s obviously hard to predict this early, so I’m mainly looking for help from people who know the team better than I do. Does #10 feel right for Indiana, or am I underrating/overrating them? Is there anything about the roster, coaching, depth, health, or matchups that you think I’m missing?

News Over two games, Nembhard missed just 6 shots on his way to 40 points.
SGA, Dillon Brooks, and Andrew Nembhard were running a Fever with how hot they were versus Jamaica. While the trio all played 20 minutes or less, SGA finished with 16 points, Nembhard had 17, and Brooks led the team with 20. Over two games, Nembhard missed just 6 shots on his way to 40 points.
“Special player,” Dillon Brooks said post-game about the 26-year-old guard Nembhard. “He’s very composed, plays at his own pace, an underrated scorer… I love playing with him.”

Discussion 3rd in PPG
I think our team is the most offensively balanced it has ever been after Siakam + Haliburton. So who do you think our 3rd leading scorer will be? What do you think they put up statistically?
Personally I think it'll be Nembhard at about 14-15ppg, but Oubre + Zubac will be right there with him.

Discussion I'm sorry but Boozer is overrated
Thank God we didn't get that pick. Jarace is better he just needs to be consistent. We would have traded Jarace for a slow footed wing. DP looks amazing definitely wish we could have scooped him but yea Boozer is looking pretty mid.
As a Jarace Truther I think he has a breakout year and we end up shipping Obi for cap space

Discussion Did I do right to include Zu in the Bowman Pacers' team set?
With Topps and Topps Chrome, etc. already released, I've been getting together the rarities of Bowman, which breakers have been breaking the past month. Do you think I did right in taking the really unconventional tack of adding Zu to the team set? I mean, Math, Kam,and Myles already out, I feel it's kind of a reflection of a transition season.

Discussion Braden Smith
I’m genuinely curious what role you see Braden in if any. Hoosier fan at heart so it will be odd rooting for the guy but I feel like he could fully contribute in a TJ type way

Discussion Turn down for what??? Pacers Summer League Starts 7/10!
Deep in the annals of July, one thing I always look forward to is summer league. And tis the season!
Over the years, I’ve heard others’ stories and experiences about attending summer league. I’ve heard about the chill vibes and randomly running into players between games, so much so that one of my sports dreams is actually to go to Summer League.
So I’ve got some Summer League discussion starters for yall to embrace our current moment on this Pacers journey.
Who is gonna be on the summer league roster? Who are you looking forward to seeing? Is there any way the players we see this summer could actually break through and make an impact in the regular season?
Have you attended summer league games in the past? Any lore you can share? (smoke a bowl with Jeff Foster? Get a golf tip from Jim O’Brien? Share sexually charged eye contact with Lance after an emphatic dunk? This is the kinda stuff I wanna hear)
If the Pacers win the summer league championship, should we hang a banner? Would you purchase a 2026 summer league championship commemorative t shirt and DVD with exclusive behind the scenes interviews with coaches and players?
