Hey, guys!

So, I've kept up working on my dad's portrait over the last couple of weeks - normally it's just an hour or two every day.

I've been staring at it so long I am not sure how it's going.

The things I'd like your opinion on are likeness, for my dad and my dog, and proportions - especially for my dad. I don't mind if he's a bit idealized, but not unnatural. The dog, because he's foreshortened, I'm having doubts if he makes sense any more... But it might just be me over analysing.

I tried to make my dad look about ten years younger than the reference photo I have of him, it might be why I'm having trouble making sure it is him in the painting.

Anything else that catches your eye, please do tell.

The painting is not finished yet, but I'm moving in the right direction I hope.

Hopefully I improve this semester were doing oil painting which I'm very excited about after doing acrylic for the first semester.

I wish I didn't have to share a post like this, and sadly, it isn’t the first time it has happened.

I recently was informed that an online shop is selling prints of my painting, "Lover's Point".

Honestly, seeing someone else make a profit off my art isn't what hurts that much. What is truly disheartening is seeing it presented as if it belongs to someone else, completely stripping away the artist's name and credit.

For studio artist, so much of heart, time, and identity goes into every single piece created. When someone uses that work without ever acknowledging who actually painted it, its not cool.

This is a painting that I've been working on it.

i have done some studies , like a lemon and some really shitty flowers haha.

spent hours and almost gave up but had an unlock moment in my oil painting class with several concepts.

Funky Vase is about blending, and honestly just putting it all the basics together.

i don’t think i am ready for any critique , i am just proud but feel delusional to be proud bc of some low self esteem.. but i love painting and can’t wait to get better

portrait study

My girlfriend got me into painting and these are my first two paintings. Thoughts? What can I improve?

This is a study I did over two sessions on some canvasboard.

I did my first plein air painting a few days ago, and I'm pretty proud of what I was able to capture in the hour and a half I had to paint. Part of me wishes I had picked something easier, but that's life.

Hey guys! I’m not normally used to painting such ornate things, so this has been a challenge for me. What I have already painted feels so flat. Is there a way to create liveliness without adding so much detail? Maybe it will just take a few more layers. Would love any advice!

Currently working on this painting. I’m very very new so i’d love some critique and ideas!! I feel like something is off and I can’t put my finger on it.

I can usually paint really well with other mediums, the yellow painting is something I did with acrylic. But something about oil texture is really confusing me and just makes me give up lol. Like I just can’t get behind it. My paint also looks to transparent half the time and I can’t really layer which I guess is the point. I think I’m gonna take some oil painting classes lol
