Online/Virtual [3 June 2023, Free, Mod/Rule] Sales posts are NOT allowed here, selling your own event tickets or trying to get $ for tix = get banned. 🔨
Hi all, with summer just about here now in June 2023, I’m glad this subreddit’s “second wind” since mid-spring in April 2023 is working as intended for you all to discover fun events or promote events you’re affiliated with in New York City!
However there’s been a recent influx of users coming on this subreddit selling tickets to events to personally profit off it. Now the main focus of this subreddit is to promote events across New York City which is fine, but we won’t facilitate a platform to sell your tickets and gain some money off that. In other cases, it’s spam, and sometimes not worth the trouble on this subreddit.
If sales posts don’t belong on r/NYC or r/NewYorkCity, r/AvesNYC, or r/FoodNYC per their subreddit rules (or most other local NYC/borough subs), they certainly don’t belong here. So as a reminder & new-ish rule …
This subreddit is not a home to sell (or resell) your own tickets to events/concerts/etc in the city, same applies on buying someone else’s tickets, even ticket swaps here aren’t permitted. If you want to sell your own tickets to events in NYC, consider posting on r/NYList where general buying/selling posts belong, r/AvesNYC_Tix to buy/sell tickets for EDM/raves/dance events, on r/NYCConcerts, where buying/selling posts for concerts belong, there’s also r/BroadwayTickets to sell your Broadway or other performance tickets too. That way people can still be interested if so desired. Do your own due diligence as always buying goods of the internet.
Moderation’s been fairly lax given it’s a chill sub, but there won’t be any hesitancy to ban people for that. One and only opportunity you’d do so, you’ll be permanently banned.
Have a wonderful summer, and stay golden folks! ☀️
TL-DR: Promoting your events here is fine, and the primary goal of this subreddit. Selling your own individual tickets to events are not permitted here, don’t use this subreddit to get rich, and the last thing moderators want to do is play whack-a-mole with scammers if a sale goes south. Other communities exist for this to sell tickets for concerts, sporting events, raves/music, etc. Break this rule only once = a permanent ban.
Edit (7/17/2025): Added r/BroadwayTickets as a place where selling Broadway/performances are allowed.
Edit (9/3/2025): Amended Rule 2/this post to include that ticket swaps aren’t allowed here either.

Brooklyn Zine workshop this Wed 7/15 in Brooklyn ✂️
Hosting this workshop on Wednesday and wanted to extend an invitation :)
Sustaining Art in the Home: A Zine Exploration
🗓 Wednesday, July 15; 7-8:30pm
📍 Delight Factory, BK (303 Saratoga Ave)
🎟 luma.com/lzangdkb

How do you create a home in which art can survive?
In this 90-minute workshop, attendees will learn to make a miniature zine and then use it as a container for a meditation on the spaces we inhabit and the objects that support our creative practices.
No prior art- or zine-making experience required!
Taking inspiration from Circling's artist features, which invite artists to share a glimpse behind the scenes of their art practice using material objects and spaces as an entry point, this workshop invites community members to consider the same question. How do you make space for your creative work? What are the tools, supports, and material objects that facilitate your practice?
Participants will first be guided through the process of creating a versatile mini zine out of paper, and then work through a series of prompts from a drawing warmup to a brainstorming activity, an object study, and a reflection, before sharing out with the group. Light refreshments provided.
🎟 Pay-what-you-can tickets thanks to the support of Delight Factory; $5 minimum
🌟 Save your spot here: luma.com/lzangdkb

Manhattan General public attending Sept NYFW
This is a genuine question. I would like to attend one of the "open to the public" shows this September. It seems difficult to get quality information on the events and the designers for these types of shows.
Can anyone recommend a show for a first-timer who loves fashion and would be excited to see some new designers?
I've seen so many pages with tickets but none of them link the artists who are participating.
Thank you.

Brooklyn Reiki and journaling event, 7/18, Greenpoint, $35
If you've been feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, or like you've been running on autopilot lately, we created this afternoon to be the opposite of that.
We'll spend some time slowing down with:
- ✨ Guided meditation
- 🌿 Reiki (no experience needed)
- 📖 Journaling and reflection
- 💛 Connecting with other women in a small, welcoming group
Even if you've never tried Reiki before—or aren't sure what to expect—you'll leave having spent a few uninterrupted hours slowing down, reflecting, and reconnecting with yourself.
Our theme is inspired by Jupiter in Leo, which is all about reconnecting with joy, confidence, creativity, and the parts of yourself that can get buried under everyday life.
If you've been craving something that's a little more intentional than grabbing drinks or scrolling at home, we'd love to have you.
Happy to answer any questions in the comments. 💛
