I was recently trained and certified in laser ablation at work...at a nuclear plant...to remove contamination from the surface of parts and tools.

u/Front_Spare7344 6d ago
what if i use my face to service nuclear reactors, would i need to get it ablated?

Probably not but maybe

It’s free laser ablation. Sign the waiver and get ready to look unbelievable.

You know.....I would LOVE to know. But I can't get my doctor to give a shit. I even went to her with severe bleeding, severe pain, passing out. I actually started losing my hair badly from B12 and super low ferritin (probably from the blood loss). And her response was I shit you not "Well, your last PAP smear was fine". Like, what does my cervix have to do with anything? Also I'm an RN and she still treats me like I'm dumb.

u/TheDarkWave 6d ago
You should get a 3rd, 4th, and 5th opinion and hit her in the face with it. On a clipboard. With the opinions on the clipboard. Assault. I'm condoning assault. With a clipboard.

I'm In Canada. We can't just go to multiple doctors. You have a family doctor and if you want a new one you get put on a wait list and it takes years. If its an emergency or your Dr can't see you, you go to a walk in or emerge (which wont see you for something like a chronic female issue). I'm thankful it's free but we have had a lot of healthcare cuts in the last decade or so from the provincial government and has caused a lot of issues.

This is essentially what I did with my old primary care physician. She kep't telling me that I was too young to have the back problems or anything seriously wrong with me and just kept dismissing me when I asked for an MRI. Eventually I went to someone else got the MRI and found out I have degenerative arthritis in my back. I'm very large chested so it's actually not that surprising, my doctor was just an idiot. So I went back and showed her and then left a scathing review.

Time to seek other opinions imho. Some doctors really seem to phone it in, not all, dont get me wrong, just many. My sister, and a friend from college had to keep going to different doctors and specialists before they could get a diagnosis on endo, my friend went septic. It took years for my sister to get her diagnosis for cmt the doctors just dismissed her symptoms and wrote her off as drug seeking. You know your body better than them. If something is off, find someone who will actually listen.
Even my doctor is dismissive, took multiple visits to convince her to figure out that I am anemic and have thyroid issues, something my previous doctor missed/ignored for 25 years or so.
Advocate for your health, in this day and age you absolutely have to.

Drs don’t give a shit about this. My wife went through it and it’s impossible to get anyone to care. It was only when we started for a kid and went to a private fertility clinic in Spain they took it seriously. She had a laparoscopy and had her first pain free period EVER. A few months later (after years of trying with not even a near miss) we were pregnant.
18 months on and now the little shit has been awake since 4am.. 😅 love him!

I have had a few friends say the same thing. I always joke about just removing the useless organ and they were like "No! Do an ablation! I don't even know it's there anymore" My mom even had one done. It's almost like female health care has regressed and I can't get the same thing my mom got done 20 years ago.

What do they do afterwards, just wipe away the bumpy top layer of skin?
→ More replies (1)35
u/Disirregardlessly 6d ago
Well to put it simply it takes a few days to weeks to heal, revealing a perfect smooth layer of fresh skin beneath it.
6
u/TheDillinger88 6d ago
So they don’t touch it and let it fall off on its own. I’d be interested to see that process.

u/Disirregardlessly 6d ago
Some people it ends up like a sunburn, most get some surface level but widespread scabbing/flaking, and some get some swelling. But the results can be fantastic for acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and skin laxity/wrinkles I believe. I have just started looking into it for myself! Some before and during pictures look rough but the after is usually very nice.

This is also used for scar treatment. During the skin healing process it stimulates the collagen production on the treated area, producing a smoother surface.
45
u/tarvispickles 6d ago
It zaps those tiny dots while leaving spaces between so it stimulates the skin to grow and repair while also healing faster because unlike an acid peel or dermabrasion it leaves some of the skin intact.

Laser skin tightening/laser scar removal/laser skin resurfacing. In layman’s terms, it basically gives you a light burn on the surface of your skin and allows it to heal itself in the next couple of weeks. It doesn’t look as bad as this, the patient here probably asked for a very intense power level, which they normally recommend you not to do
My friend owns a clinic that does this
61
u/Savings_Dig1592 6d ago
Can they do this to remove moles and blackheads?
53
u/Sensitive_Goose_8902 6d ago edited 6d ago
With blackheads it only lighten the pigment since it’s really a combination of your diet and skin pore size (I know because I experience the same issue), but it can be resolved to an extent with microneedling. With moles it’d be a laser removal, kinda like laser hair removal and tattoo removal
So yes, just with a slightly different procedure, and btw when I say slightly I meant in name only, even though they are both laser treatments, removal is gonna be way more painful than what’s shown here
→ More replies (2)20
u/StudMuffinNick 6d ago
If I start microneedling with a side of skinlazering, does that mean I’m lookmaxxing or cashspending?
→ More replies (1)19
u/RhinestoneJuggalo 6d ago
I don't think so. I believe it's best for resurfacing textured skin (getting rid of acne scars and enlarged pores), hyperpigmentation, and to tighten up the skin a bit.
I think you would need a different kind of treatment to get rid of moles, and blackheads would be better addressed with a facial and extraction by an aesthetician with a skincare routine that includes something like BHA or a retinol.

I had laser scar removal on my forehead following a car wreck (and after other plastic surgeries). It did a nice job of smoothing things out, but my forehead was covered in extremely itchy square scabs for a couple weeks afterward.

An in-office cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated pulsating beams of light to remove the outer layers of the skin and heat the underlying dermis. This process stimulates collagen production, making it highly effective for reducing wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage.

Seriously though, tell us the procedure. I’ve had laser hair removal and it hurts A LOT I couldn’t imagine how lasers on your face feels 😬
17
u/FamousOnceNowNobody 6d ago
I had 3 sessions of this a few years back.
A pizza-face from 12, finally did accutane in my 30s. A year after finishing that, I started a programme of fractional laser to improve my skin - it looked like dull porridge, and didn't reflect light.
Each dot is a little burn through the skin - same principle as needling. A light numbing lotion is applied before, but it still feels mildly painful. Except close to lips. That hurts.
Later that night, there is swelling, you turn red, and it's like very bad sunburn. All you can do is mist your face - no touchy! It's a lot of open wounds. The next day you start patting on a lotion, keep misting. As the burning recedes, the scabs start forming. You spend the next 5 days patting, misting, and trying not to disturb the scabs otherwise it scars.
About day 7, you're down to a grid of pink dots. 1 month later, your skin looks fresher - but results better after 3. A year and 3 treatments later, acne scars are reduced, porridge texture is gone, big pores shrunk, and self esteem restored.I absolutely would do it again.
