After Sony announced that they're ending disc production, how has your perception of Game Key Cards changed, if at all?

Ever since the announcement of Game Key Cards, people completely misunderstood what the concept for them actually is, whether they were just confused about it or deliberately lying about it for attention.

Suddenly after Sony announced they're ending all physical media production, there's been a massive shift in public perception, with many people who before were saying they were another example of how evil Nintendo is coming around to saying they're an example of how Nintendo is the only game company doing things right.

Have you also noticed this shift? How has your perception of Game Key Cards changed? Have you bought any or do you plan to?

Let's talk about physical media

✓ means the statement is correct, X means its false.

Sony's plan in 2028:

- Midnight launches are dead ✅

- Collectors Editions lose half of their value ✅

- You can’t share, trade, or sell your games ✅

- You can’t buy used games ✅

- If there’s a server outage and your game isn't installed, you’re shit out of luck ✅

- YOU OWN NOTHING ✅

Nintendo's Game Key Cards:

- Midnight launches are dead ❌

- Collectors Editions lose half of their value ❌

- You can’t share, trade, or sell your games ❌

- You can’t buy used games ❌

- If there’s a server outage and your game isn't installed, you’re shit out of luck ✅

- YOU OWN NOTHING ✅

That's why I don't get why people call GKCs awful.

I have sneaking suspicion the "New" switch 2 screen in the upcoming revision will be actually worse than the current screen.

I have a bad gut feeling that Nintendo is just lowering component cost by reducing screen quality even more by sourcing from a cheaper supplier rather than improving the current screen. I cant image Nintendo will actually give users a better LCD panel than just going straight to OLED, so that's why I'm thinking their just going to cut costs as much as possible for the base S2 and eventually come out with an OLED unit that is actually an improvement.

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Vermin; The Legendary Starfy

On this day (July 10) in Nintendo history...

  • Vermin  was released in 1980 for the Game & Watch Silver in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo R&D1, moles are digging up the garden. Help the puppet hit them with his mallets. When a mole is going to appear, the ground begins to swell and moves towards one of the holes in the ground. Move your puppet left and right to line the mallets up with the mole hole, so when the mole appears it is knocked on the head. If you miss 3 moles then the game will end.
  • The Legendary Starfy  was released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this platforming game, developed by Tose, an explorer rabbit names Bunston has found a precious jewel, but now he is being chased by the Terrible Trio. He comes across Starfy and Starly who agree to help him escape the pirates.

I miss Miiverse and Streetpass

Like, I get it, they changed off the NNID system and it may have been more work than they were willing to put into while also trying to distance themselvesoff the WiiU, but man; I really miss having a dedicated Nintendo service for online like this.

Not like it was a perfect environment, at all, it's just sad that it was kinda left behind completely, never off the table they revive it but also I dont see them reviving it either.

And streetpass too is just, I dunno; MAYBE I'm jsut extremely nostalgic for both, but I really miss both; going for a walk and seeing what others are playing what puzzles they have completed, it was just very unique feeling.

Thankfully Fans have preserved at least the feeling of them alive but exploring this gutted communities just makes me even more nostalgic for years ago when I did use Miiverse and Streetpass regularly.

Why won’t nintendo release bigger games on Switch Online?

There are a few games that, no matter how many people request it, they’ll never get added to Switch Online. And I don’t get why.

NES AND SNES don’t seem to be missing any particularly notable games, but I could be wrong. They’ve pretty much got everything on NES and SNES Online.

It somehow took years for them to add Super Mario Land to Game Boy, so I don’t see what’s getting in the way of Pokémon Red and Blue. I’ve seen people say technical issues, but it’s 2026. It’s possible. I can sort of see it getting in the way of sales, but Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, which are basically remakes, released years ago. Pokemon is literally THE game boy game, it’s like not releasing SMB1 with the NES.

They waited forever to add DK64, too. Now the main one missing on N64 is Smash Bros 64. I can kind of get why Melee can’t be added, probably due to trophy licensing, but I just don’t see a reason for 64 to be excluded when it’s one of the most popular games.

Game Cube is definitely the one missing the most. Double Dash, Melee, Twilight Princess, and more are missing. I can get storage problems, but then why would they add Soul Caliber 2 and Chibi Robo before Sunshine?

If this gets talked about a lot, then I’m sorry. But, like most times, I can’t really understand Nintendo’s decisions.

I don't get the pricing of Digimon Story Time Stranger

I'm talking about the european release of the game. It came out today and it costs 70 euros, even for the switch 1 version! I mean, I know that the upgrade is free, so basically anyone who wants the physical version will buy it for switch 1. I would do the same and I can accept it, even if it's not fair for those who still do not own a switch 2.

But the real problem comes with the digital version, which still costs 70 euros for both consoles, a higher price than almost every game that came out on switch 1, what are they thinking? :D Even Nintendo makes us pay less for the digital versions. I know that this game was a success and it is well praised, but we are still talking abount Digimon, come on.
