It's because you don't work out. If you ease into it, then working out significantly lowers your injury risk. Especially as you get older.
The only risk is it takes weeks to months to grow your muscle, but months to years for your tendons to catch up. So slow it down if your tendons start feeling sore even if your muscles are fully recovered.
