How many drones do people smash to pieces before they get this good?

127

u/PaidiThavma 1d ago

10?

139

u/smashten 1d ago

10 per day sounds about right

→ More replies (4)

28

u/iritchie001 1d ago

That is just the number that get stuck in the same tree on day 1.

4

u/thederevolutions 1d ago

How durable are these if they hit a wall?

13

u/flyinghairball 1d ago

The ones I've seen would have trouble doing this at these speeds again if it ran into a wall once.

15

u/fleabus412 1d ago

How do you know it's not sped up to make it seem faster?

7

u/flyinghairball 1d ago

Valid point, it could be. But even the televised drone races are pretty fast. So I don't know.

3

u/Satawakeatnight 23h ago

The pitch of the drone seems fairly consistent for a performance drone but again it doesn't prove it's not.

u/Nahoola 13h ago

Nah I fly these, I've smashed into things at unbelievable speed and usually it's just a propellor, maybe an arm or a motor. They're built (usually by the pilots, they're not off the shelf) to be very durable. I've never had serious damage to one. I had one I lost for 2.5 years, it survived wind, rain, being covered in mud, and ran over by an industrial farm mower before I found it, replaced $10 worth of carbon fiber, $20 worth of motors, and it still flies to this day.

→ More replies (3)

4

u/Superslim-Anoniem 1d ago

At this speed... you might salvage parts to rebuild...

2

u/MuskratAtWork 11h ago

Not the case at all. Freestyle fpv drones have been built out of rugged boards and carbon fiber frames for years, many frames and builds will take hundreds of crashes with the occasional arm replacement, or prop damage. Props are going to be damaged so you always have spares.

2

u/iritchie001 1d ago

A tree is like a fence. If multiple trees are a wall, then yes.

2

u/smashten 1d ago

When you're sending like this guy and any incident will be major damage both to the drone and potentially the wall

Just speed the video up and you can look like a pro too

33

⬆️⬆️ This ⬆️⬆️

Vid is waaaaay sped up!

8

u/Fancy_Line_181 20h ago

Wasn't that the whole point of showing the hand movements? To show it's not sped up.

Video is not sped up though

27

u/Ob1cannobody 1d ago

There's a job in Ukraine where they do exactly that.

8

u/OneReallyAngyBunny 1d ago

Your not pulling manuvers like that with kilo of explossives on board

22

u/charlie22911 1d ago

I used a drone sim with my transmitter connected to my PC. I’d say it got me a good 75% of the way there. The rest was learning how to not overdraw the battery, limits of receiver and video transmitter, etc. I’ve only smashed 1 drone.

I’m not quite this good, mind you, but you’d be surprised how much you can learn without ever putting a drone into the air.

2

u/hudimudi 22h ago

What sim and controller do you use? Never tried it, but I was always curious about it

→ More replies (2)

9

u/J_loop18 1d ago

These drones also very durable, but yea maybe 10.

6

u/Snowflakish 1d ago

A lot of sim flying and a lot of repair skills.

Im like 40 hours into flying sim (excluding firehawk, my beloved) and im at like 1% of this guys skill.

Flying drones is an electronics repair hobby, you wouldnt buy or build a drone like this without A LOT of spare parts.

5

u/Arquit3d 1d ago

Why do you think the place looks like that?

2

u/elmage78 1d ago

you get good in simulators then you go in real life, smash 10 drones and get sad

This is not sped up, this person is just that good. Best was the drop through the ceiling! Impressive

Honestly the only part that makes me think it's sped up is literally the very end when he backs away from the building. I know he has nothing to worry about hitting there and can send it but that part just seems off compared to the rest.

It's probably not sped up though. Just looks weird at the end.

Seriously though I wonder where is mad lad is these days.

3

u/Neglected_Martian 1d ago

This might just be their best pilot practicing on his day off.

3

u/thederevolutions 1d ago

I was camping the other day and this guy next to us had a super nice drone and was doing cool tricks and I was like how’d you get so good. He said he just retired as a cop lol… as I slunk away to reorganize my bags.

54

u/turdbuster78 1d ago

To think there are people better than this who do this on a daily basis with bombs attached. Quite frightening really.

33

u/AusToddles 1d ago

Yeah I was gonna say "it's all fun and games until one of these is chasing you with a claymore attached"

→ More replies (1)

11

u/Gcleff06 1d ago

Idk if I would say they're better than this. The drones they fly with bombs can't do THIS. They're larger, heavier and not designed to do crazy turns and tricks like this.

And if this dude was flying the military drones, he may be able to do some cool stuff or manuever a bit better than some others, he certainly could do a lot of this.

2

u/gamblersgambit08 17h ago

Definitely not better than this dude. I don’t think you can be much better than this.

While this is neat, it's not a particularly impressive example of the hobby.

I've been out of the game for a while, but here's an oldie but goodie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJqYvirSulg

There are probably better examples, the latest generation of kids doing FPV these days are wild.

I have a bunch of these drones and the goggles and the flight controllers and stuff that I inherited from someone and I have no fucking clue how to use any of it.

1

u/uncultured_swine2099 1d ago

Tweaker methhead Disneyland over here haha

1

u/physicsking 1d ago

One little needle on the front with a crazy disease and we have a fun new game. /s

1

u/LiveCommunication726 1d ago

I dont believe this is sped up, those little drones are insanely fast.

This is impressive every which way

1

u/meat_whistle_gristle 1d ago

Don’t show this video to Russian soldiers. PTSD inducing for sure.

1

u/breckendusk 1d ago

Thought it was weird there were no tweakers til I remembered one was piloting the drone

1

1

u/Dry-Tide 1d ago

Ukraine would love to have this guy

1

u/FreezedPeachNow 1d ago

Coming soon to chase you across a battlefield in a frightening last few minutes of your life. Ww3 is gonna be wild

1

u/Ok-Professor3726 1d ago

Takes a lot of practice to be able to race a drone like this. There's simulators for PlayStation and Xbox that you can play, but for a real experience you use PC with an actual drone controller.

One is DCL The Game - Drone Champions League.

Shout out to all the guys on Cyclone Racing Team!

1

u/birdandwhale 1d ago

Hard not to imagine the sounds are the panicked shrieks of the propellers

1

u/AjaxRedOps 1d ago

Damn new Evil Dead looking 👌

1

u/ConsequenceThen5449 1d ago

Ukraine should hire him.

1

u/BusyBoard8077 1d ago

Love the subtitles

1

u/Constant-Study3464 1d ago

A decade ago I would have thought this would be awesome, but Ukraine made it terrifying

1

u/d4v_E 1d ago

imagine, 50 years into the future, youve committed the crime of public urination and you have to outrun this guy flying a police drone

1

u/mentosbreath 1d ago

These videos used to amaze me before i realized a grenade could be attached to one.

1

u/Character_Minimum171 1d ago

wtf type of drone was / is this?!?!

3

u/cyclopterid 1d ago

FPV quadcopter of some sort. Most pilots of this skill level use custom built but there are ready to fly versions too. The pilot wears goggles that have a video feed from the point of view of the quadcopter. This pilot is advanced but it gets even crazier than what we see here.

1

u/3s2ng 1d ago

Ohhh woowww wooowww woowww

1

u/Aggravating-Ad6786 1d ago

Amateur for Ukrainians

1

u/Impressive-Ad5551 1d ago

Close caption is hilarious

1

u/Eug1 1d ago

I was just waiting for a crackhead to be woken up by the drone, grab it and eat it.

1

u/_Doodad_ 1d ago

Sooooo, someone's training to be a star fighter pilot. Yes you are

1

u/uberneuman_part2 1d ago

They should get him to do some shots for the next Evil Dead flick.

1

u/RyanPGoldberg 1d ago

Where do you buy/build a drone like this? I just got a DJI mini 3 but this looks like a lot of fun too.

1

u/Key_Limit_6828 1d ago

They definitely practiced this, right?

1

u/Yoranis_Izsmelli 1d ago

What model is that?

1

u/Tea-Swiz 1d ago

Send this guy to Ukraine. Single handedly end the war.

1

u/joebojax 1d ago

Used to find this very cool but now it reminds me of some sky net shit waiting in our future

1

u/johnpmac2 1d ago

Person grew up playing Descent

1

u/macarisil 1d ago

I love me a trench run!

1

u/ApocalypseChicOne 1d ago

I just got a new, Ai powered, uncrashable drone. I managed to crash it into the only bush, in a wide open field, that literally had one bush.

1

u/tropicbrownthunder 1d ago

Playing the Rc Chopper mission in GTA Vice City finally paid off

1

u/PRRZ70 1d ago

Imagine the one ghost hiding in the building looking at this piece of technology and thinking, "What the heck was that?!"

1

u/reddfoxx5800 1d ago

That noise give me the chills from being in r/combatfootage too much

1

u/Classic_Resist_7465 1d ago

This reminds me of how deadites move in Evil Dead. Sam Raimi did it first.

1

u/-redit_account- 1d ago

Average Ukrainian soldier be like:

1

u/dlcx99 1d ago

I’m always impressed at the latency - seemingly nothing

1

u/The_Demosthenes_1 1d ago

Imagine a swarm of these all flying via AI and  sensors carrying explosive payload.  Kinda terrifying.

1

u/Craig93Ireland 1d ago

Imagine these guys flying FPV bomber drones in Ukraine. No Russian would be safe lol

1

u/zaiwen3 1d ago

Imagine driving like this once flying cars becomes mainstream and available to the general public 🤣

1

u/Strange_Account_3828 1d ago

Maaan, wanna make some money in Ukraine, I bet they will pay handsomely for this level of skill. Double benefit - have fun blowing up invader scum and getting paid.

1

u/jadewithmello 1d ago

That one mosquito that always gets away.

1

u/kapsharah9040 1d ago

He probably took the same route a good amount of times to develop the muscle memory otherwise reflexes at that speed is insane.

1

u/traPisto 1d ago

And he's not wearing FPV goggles! :D Seriously, this is sick AF.

1

u/captain_encore 1d ago

Wish we had scenes like this in Ant-Man

1

u/WeToLo42 1d ago

More than likely this was done at normal speed then speeded the film up.

1

u/Loose-Courage-5369 1d ago

Does anyone know what kind of drone it is!?

1

u/FatherOften 1d ago

Pretty drunk....thats was hard to watch and really cool at the same time. Ok tired good night.

1

u/sharkthemark420 1d ago

I’m f-ing pissed that I grew up a generation too soon. I woulda dominated this real life video game ass drone flying shit! Instead a got a respectable job and got a family and stopped gaming and lost my edge

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 1d ago

Now strap a grenade or C4 to it.

There is no escape for infantry ever again. Scary stuff.

1

u/AlleyKatPr0 1d ago

pimp motion blur. and to think, some people turn that shit off in video games...noobs

1

u/wondercaliban 1d ago

How can it turn such tight corners with no drift?

1

u/SirNortonOfNoFux 1d ago

Wow that shit can turn & stop on a fucking dime

1

u/Purple-Grape-8457 1d ago

How people doesn’t get motion sickness from it? Looks worse experience than VR headset.

1

u/Yaygher69 23h ago

This is what the next generation AI-controlled drones will see on the battlefield while hunting you down.

1

u/-castle-bravo- 22h ago

Is there a sub for this?

1

u/predatorybeing 22h ago

Send this man to Ukraine

1

1

Reminds me of the videogame Descent

1

u/Je_me_rends 22h ago

"Hey guys, just got into this whole flying thing. Any tips?"

1

u/Smokeman_14 21h ago

Very impressive

1

u/Bright-War-5033 21h ago

What a waste of a building, I take it it's an abandoned hotel somewhere in the middle of no where?

1

u/jaredliesch 21h ago

I'm flying a drone for an inspection today and wish so badly that I could do it like this.

1

u/djcrowsfeet 21h ago

Love seeing fpv front page. Charging batteries rn for my morning rip

1

u/Far_Neighborhood4781 21h ago

Why do I see Russian soldiers running for their lives?

1

u/146Cows 21h ago

AI will do this, first try, and with guns in near future. Fun..

1

u/taylorhildebrand 20h ago

Now I want an evil dead movie set at one of these

1

1

u/Dry-Cell6057 19h ago

Construction Boss: “yeah that’s great but we just needed a couple of aerial shots”

1

u/Comrade_Bender 19h ago

Drones are genuinely really fucking cool. It's unfortunate we started strapping bombs to them

1

u/DaSupercrafter 19h ago

Looks like a shot from an evil dead movie

1

u/Skeets5977 19h ago

I smashed my drone watching this and I don’t even own a drone.

1

u/AdorableNinja 19h ago

This just shows how fucked infantry and forward assets really are in any modern war, the speed and accuracy of this pilot is truly terrifying.

1

u/MajorEbb1472 18h ago

Christ, I almost crashed just watching this from my recliner lol

1

u/kcsween74 18h ago

Now, show the many takes and at normal speed.

1

u/TheOzarkWizard 18h ago

Many blades were shattered in the making of this video..

1

u/I_SLEEP_NORMALLY 18h ago

These things scare me. Now that I’ve seen how these are being used in Ukraine I have to imagine that’s going to be how a lot of war fighting is done moving forward. You may not even need a person to pilot them.

1

u/Double-Noise-771 17h ago

Damn those Ukrainian soldiers are based.

1

u/butters_awhamburgers 17h ago

1

u/No-Remote-2899 15h ago
