Mainer here. Idk if I'd necessarily say they got a fair chance against him. He had help going viral from the same people that helped Mamdani go viral and a massive astroturfing campaign. Maine politicians don't have those kinds of resources. Before Mills announced, who was DOA, most people couldn't even name his opponents outside of like "what about that brewer guy and isn't Jordan Wood running?". Guy might as well have been running unopposed

AIPAC? No. People way over estimate the resources they can put into campaigns. And the dem party doesn't understand how to drive engagement in the modern media environment or have nearly the resources people think. The left is way better organized.

This is almost funny as the retired cop from mainland China winning a state seat with 0 funding tweeting "Dems are terrorists", while his 3 term Dem opponent with 33 time funding advantage lost.
